Long story short: these guys are great!
I typically repair my own consoles if there is an issue, but these guys have never done any gatekeeping of info and have always been super helpful to me when i have questions or am asking about ifo for a repair or modification. I've purchased quite a few handheld systems like my 3DS from them and they all are exactly what I paid for and expect. They are Also good guys to just talk retro with in general. If you ever need any kind of repair this is the place to go!

I paid over $150 to have this shop install an IPS screen and a rechargeable battery mod on my original GameBoy, and the results are frankly dangerous.
1. Critical Structural/Safety Failure:
The shop used hot glue to anchor a USB-C charging board to the battery cover. Hot glue is not a structural adhesive; the first time I unplugged the cable, the receptacle shell (the outer metal ring) was ripped entirely off the circuit board because the glue held the shell while the board stayed in the console. This has exposed a mangled insulated tongue (the internal connector pins), rendering the charger useless and potentially creating a short-circuit risk. There are visible scorch marks on the adhesive.2. Poor Display Installation:
The new IPS screen was misaligned and was sealed with visible hair and dust trapped between the display and the lens. The screen also suffers from subtle flickering and vertical color banding, suggesting poor ribbon cable seating or a failing voltage regulator.3. Audio Interference:
Since the "upgrade," there is an intermittent buzzing sound from the speaker that was not present before, likely due to poor shielding or "dirty" power from the cheap charging circuit they installed.4. Physical Damage:
The "installation" of the USB-C port involved hacking a crude, jagged hole into the original plastic battery cover.This wasn't a professional modification; it was a "hack job" that has compromised the integrity of a vintage console. I strongly advise taking your business elsewhere if you value your hardware.
