Had them do landscaping and other work. Work was substandard and the owner was combative and unresponsive to the issues we had and concerns we raised. I would not use them again

Pretty standard case of over-promise and under-deliver.

We discussed a scrape and backfill of my front yard. Scrape down 6" (deep scrape to get rid of Ailanthus), backfill 2" of clean dirt, install some water lines for future raised beds. Pretty straightforward.

They actually scraped down ~2.5", backfilled ~0.5" and while they did install the water lines they never tested them.

Oh, and they left trash around and damaged my gutter pipes and an existing bed. They left an extension cord behind and despite reminding them twice I think they're too ashamed to pick it up.

Not the right place for your project, at least until they up their standards.

It was a pleasure working with these guys- reasonably priced, work done efficiently and the end product exceeded expectations

Backyard Art re-did our front and backyard. In the front they put in a boulder retaining wall and planted trees and plants (some looked at us weird when we told them what we wanted, but Backyard Art did exactly what we wanted)! They also installed a paver walkway that leads to a firepit they built for us and added some bushes and grasses for us. They showed up when they were supposed to and worked hard. We're happy with what they did.

Great job on our backyard makeover! Did what they said they would do! They were flexible as we changed a few of the plans and they adapted and made it happen. Super to work with and extremely pleased with the outcome. Have used on three yard projects and pleased with all three. Would highly recommend.

Esau and his team did excellent landscaping work, everything from repairing brick and flagstone patio, installed fencing, rock, mulch, sod, irrigation, etc. I appreciated how responsive and honest he was with communicating throughout the project. I found Esau through a facebook group where he came highly recommended by a few different people. I had 4 different companies out to quote for the work we wanted done. Esau's quote came in the highest, and by quite a bit...
But after a reviewing the other quotes I realized Esau was the only one who really paid attention to what we said we wanted and had quoted us for the entire scope of the project we asked for. Because it was a big project with multiple sections and a lot of requests, other quotes were missing one thing or another that was discussed in the walk through.

Because of the attention to detail we chose Esau and his team and are SO glad we did. They did a wonderful job, he had a really great crew. They worked with us on some tweaks and adjustments as the project unfolded. Communication was great and we're so pleased with how it all turned out!! Thank you Esau!

Esau and his entire crew are amazing and very easy to work with. We have hired Backyard Art for gate and fence repair, stone work, custom columns, landscaping and more to come. They are respectful, honest and clean up after every job. They have great design ideas as well and would recommend them for any project.

I wouldn’t hire them as they do low quality job. Installed sod without properly preparing the surface. One week later weeds are growing in new sod. Esau said there won’t be lumps of clay everything will be tampered leveled raked. Did any of that see images. Workers dumped removed clay and dumped on other side without proper raking and loosening the soil.

Alex is our go-to landscaper! The work performed is always of the highest quality, timely, and competitively priced. We couldn’t be happier with the service we’ve received and continue to enjoy the work completed by Backyard Art.

This team did an incredible job with our now concrete driveway, paver border, and paver walkway/front porch/sitting wall! They even poured a 12x16 concrete pad for a shed. The team was efficient, hard working, kind, with prompt communication. I would highly recommend!

We hired Backyard Art Landscape to install a new deck + rail and pavers on an area that originally had concrete and it had deteriorated significantly

Alex and his crew were really easy to work with; polite, constant and clear communication.
There were a few surprises found once the concrete was removed, but Alex found a solution for everything that came up.

The installation was done very quick, the crew was always at my house by 6:50 am and ready to begin work at 7:00am, they routinely worked until 6:00pm Monday-Saturday.
They always left the site clean at the end of every day. And they even helped me get ride of additional trash I had in my backyard, unrelated to this project.

Alex came by almost every day to check on the progress and quality. He is very detailed oriented and made sure I was updated on the progress.

The work was completed ahead of schedule and to my complete satisfaction.
Our friends have complimented our new deck and patio.

Loved our experience with Backyard Art. Our pergola, fence and flagstone patio was done well and on time! Alex and his foreman always ensured to ask where there were questions and when I had some special requests for minute details, they were definitely responsive and accommodating. I would go with Backyard Art again!!

Edit: It’s August now and still no response from Backyard Art. I now have about 11 plants that are not doing well or dead. The estimated cost to fix all the planting that was done incorrectly is nearly $3000+ the cost of the new plants which are quite expensive. Do not trust this company. I am beside myself that I spent about $27,000 and now I’m gonna have to spend another $3500+ to fix all of their mistakes. He said, planting with rocks around the plants was fine, but I would not have half of my yard dying if that were the case.

I do not recommend this company at all.

I continue to reach out to see if they will honor their warranty, but they will not respond. Some of the plants were already showing signs of not doing well when the field manager was there last but he didn’t take a look at the plants or any show concern. It feels like the company has received their full payment and so they just don’t care anymore ($27,000 in!)

If you have hired them to do work DO NOT give them any large sums of money near the end before the work is completely done to your satisfaction, because they will move on to the next big money making job and stop responding.

Also, any warranty is questionable as I have asked and they won’t specify exactly what the warranty is or what it covers. It seems they don’t want to warranty anything.

Esau and the Backyard Art Landscape crew are extremely efficient and priced reasonably. I am so grateful that he was able to inspect my yard and complete the work in such a timely manner. I highly recommend them!
