Our dishwasher stopped working and we called Mr. Appliance based on the reviews - the issue was that our dishwasher would stop mid-cycle and wasn’t completing loads which we tested 3 or 4 times prior to the tech coming out.
They charged $125 for a tech to come and take a look - the tech came to our home for about 15 minutes tried a few things and told us our dishwasher was actually working, which we surprised us. When he left we tried to run a load and once again stopped mid-cycle. We called the company and were told that because he didn’t find any issue it must be the control board and would cost $695 to repair (on an old whirlpool that’s maybe worth $300).
We requested either a refund on the $125 visit where they didn’t find the issue, or that they at least send out a tech to ensure that was actually the issue since the first tech didn’t find a problem at all - they refused. Then offered to send one again for another $125 as a compromise? They claimed the tech just knew that must be the issue and claimed it was working intermittently (it has not run a single full cycle in 7-8 attempts from before until after he came).
I was honestly surprised they were unwilling just to drive here and look after their tech was not able to discern the dishwasher wasn’t even working. Unfortunate experience with a company not too concerned with doing things the right way.
