My experience with Willingham Landscape Design has been nothing short of pleasurable. James (the owner) happened to be driving by my house a few years ago and stopped to introduce himself because he noticed one of the signature trees on my property was in distress. I had noticed the same a while back, however, I was at a loss on how exactly to proceed as was my lawn maintenance service. Within no time, Willingham helped me address the issue and not only was the tree saved, it looked better than ever. Since then, I’ve had James & Co perform a number of projects varying in size and scope on my property. They take great pride and ownership of their work which, after having gone through a number of landscapers I can say from experience, isn’t that easy to find these days. Most recently I had then re-do my entire back yard, remaking it into a Japanese style garden. The removal of overgrown brush, shrubbery, weeds and a few diseased trees was a massive undertaking in and of itself. Willingham performed the work efficiently, constantly making themselves available, even on weekends, to ensure the project did not stagnate.... it you want a landscaper who cuts corners and sacrifices quality in order to be the “low cost” provider... these aren’t the guys for you. They’re a top notch operation all around and were undoubtedly the right team to help bring the dream of a Japanese Garden in my back yard to reality.

Scope of work I’ve had them perform: lighting, fountain installation, fire pit installation, grading, sod, tree removal, fertilizing, brush removal, trimming of trees and hedges, placement or stone, stone walkway, stone lantern installation, power washing, sealing stone walkway and pavers, extension of sprinkler system, buried natural gas connection for outdoor fire pit ..... These guys do it all

About a month ago I needed some help with my landscaping. I contacted Mr. Willingham of landscape designs for help. He arrived on time and discussed what I needed and then sent me a proposal. I agreed to his proposal and his crew with him arrived as discussed. I could not believe the difference after his men left. Since then his men have returned several times to check my garden and do a little touch up. Every thing that Mr. Willingham said has been done here, and look forward to a long professional extension of his landscape designs help. EXTRA !!! Had a death in the family and did not get back to him fast enough. So he now refuses to help maintain the plants he put in. He tells me that I am irrational, that since I did not contact him sooner, he has quit the job that he started. I AM VERY SAD FOR ANYONE WHO USES Willingham Landscape and Design. No more help even if I pay....

Working with James has been an excellent experience. He created a landscape for our home that reflected our design wishes within a reasonable budget. He continues to oversee the plantings and maintain his work. We highly recommended Willingham Landscaping!

It was such a pleasure working with the Willingham Landscape Design team. Our property had not been upgraded for over 20 years and definitely needed a makeover.
The journey began with meeting James (owner) who came to our home a few times and listened to us, offered suggestions, and in the process allowed us to see how our surroundings could become a completely different place to live.
Travis, James’ son and partner, totally understood what we wanted and needed for our new landscape design and he and his team (Thomas and Jesus) got to work. They removed coral rocks, blocks, stones, trees and bushes to have a complete blank slate to work with. They also removed old wood, planters and other debris that had been piling up for many years. Once everything was cleared out, they began to install new trees, bushes, plants and sod throughout the property. All new plantings were thoroughly watered and fertilized. A new walkway was designed and installed using Carapace custom stepping stones and a meditative space was designed for the corner of our backyard.
The team was here for 7-8 days and worked for 9-10 hours each day. They explained things that they were doing and answered any questions we had throughout the process. Everyone appeared to enjoy their work and were eager to get everything done well. After each day, the worksite was cleaned up, materials were neatly piled up to be ready for the next day.
Since the work was completed, James and Travis have come over to make sure everything is looking good and we are satisfied with our new property.
I would highly recommend Willingham Landscape Design to anyone who wants a team who takes pride in their work and wants the client to be pleased with the end result.

We just had our beautiful landscaping completed. Dealing with James, Travis, and the rest of the crew was a pleasure. When we first met with James, he wanted to find out what we liked. Since we knew very little about plants, he spent a lot of time with us, showing us dozens of pictures so that we were able to end up with a design that met our aesthetics.
During the installation, my husband and I were asked for our input numerous times. While they were certainly the experts, our thoughts and opinions were important to them.
The dedication and pride that they take in their work was evident throughout the entire process. Our job was not a major project for them, yet they treated it as such. Total professionals! My husband and I couldn’t have been happier that we chose this company on a referral from a neighbor. We had a small bed project at our condo. James came by and spent lots of time with us choosing the best plants for our space. Once the proposal was agreed upon they showed up on time and completed the project on budget. It has been one year since James Willingham designed our landscaping. The job was finished shortly before we left for our summer home up north. James kept in touch all summer and early fall, sending us pictures and comments on how our plants and trees were doing. He wasn’t pleased with the growth on a few and replaced them.
When we came back to Florida in the late fall, we met with James and discussed how we were going to proceed with shaping and trimming our Bougainvillea. In addition, the new shrubs he had planted still were not doing well and he wanted to replace them. He showed us pictures and we picked out what we wanted to put in. This was done as part of our original contract.
James and his crew are on top of our landscaping. We were a relatively small job for them but we have never felt that we weren’t getting 100% of their time and efforts. He always answers our texts immediately and addresses any concerns we have. I would highly recommend his services.

We used James Willingham and his crew for re-landscaping our front yard and landscaping a portion of our backyard. This was our second go around for our front yard, as the former person we hired did a terrible design job and did not stand by his work when plants died. James and his crew saved and replanted what they could, and their work was nothing short of superb! James is a true gentleman, easy to deal with and stands by his work. They did a spectacular job!! We have been very pleased with the work of Willingham Landscaping. James and Travis are very knowledgeable. Most importantly, they can explain everything in a way you can understand. These are not handymen, they are landscape professionals. Big difference between them and many of the other “landscapers” roaming our communities. We recently used James and his fantastic team for a full front and back yard overhaul on my mother’s home. She loves her garden and her butterflies and her yard was definitely lacking some curb appeal. James met with us several times at length to discuss her property and create a thoughtful design to incorporate her love of a “cottage garden” (in south Florida!) and a home for butterflies. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. He was communicative throughout the entire project and provided impeccable service. My mother had the works done- several old tree stumps ground, existing and remaining plants trimmed, new palm planted, one large one moved, new bushes, new flowers, several bougainvilleas, trellises added, new sod, new fresh dirt, new mulch, and additional irrigation. Not to mention, James spent hours hand attaching multiple orchids to trellises on her patio. The final product is stunning and exactly what we had hoped for.
I was so thrilled with his work, I immediately hired him to work on my own property for a bit of refresh in my own landscaping. James truly cares about his work. He has continued to follow up with us to ensure we are happy and the plants are thriving (which they are)! His before and after photos speak for themselves.
