Service Star Air Conditioning and Heating

Do Not Hire - and if you already have - have your UV lights checked!
Thought we were happy on install, few years later experiencing some health issues so we ordered an air quality test ($495) - turns out there is a lot of mold growth in the AC installed by Service Star because... They never hooked up the UV Light!! So here we are with a ton of mold growth, my health bills, the air quality bill, and the bill for cleaning the AC and ducts and properly installing the UV bulb (all this an additional $800).

If the techs do not know why a UV bulb is an extremely important part of the install, they should not be installing the ACs.

Service Star even did a service call and did not say or do anything about the UV light not being installed. How does this happen?

If this company wants this post updated or removed, I'm not sure what they can do to restore our trust, since no amount of service calls will make up for this unless I see that UV light functioning. Maybe they'll think of something I cannot right now, since I'm very upset by my year so far experiencing health effects of mold in our AC. The consequences go way beyond the dollar amount.

Totally irresponsible to not install the UV light, and not catch it on service call.

We had our AC shutdown this Saturday and made a call to Service Star to see if someone might be able to take a look on short notice. Within about 2 hours, Mike showed up and did some thorough diagnostics. Our system was well over 10 years old and the prior owner didn’t seem to take great care of it. In short, he could get it running but it would likely need further significant repair, only to need to be replaced real soon. We opted to replace the system as the coils were in terrible shape and the unit was on its last legs. He got us running to make sure it made it through the night and next day (thanks and our kids thank you!), and he got us on schedule today (Sunday) to have the entire system replaced. And, with all of that, it was highly reasonable. Moreover, he did not even charge us for the Saturday call and service (he was here for quite a bit). The guys showed up as promised early Sunday morning and did a superb job. We couldn’t be any happier. And, of course, Mike called this evening to follow up and make sure all went well and we were happy. In short, this AC company is fanastic, reasonable (more than reasonable actually), and just simply honest. Thank you very much!!

I had James the duct cleaner come out today. He was set between 9am-12am. I received a call around 9:15 from their office asking if James come and he’ll be 30-45 minutes away. James and his partner Chris showed up just before 10am. They did a wonderful duct cleaning leaving my house smelling great. My Dyson fan told me after they left, that my air quality improved 50%. I was absolutely shocked but really impressed to leave a good review about my experience.
