Ignored several calls to discuss project. I got the feeling the project wasn't within his scope and rather than passing on the job via a discussion, he ignored my calls/texts. I have no idea if they do good work, just seems to me a bad way to pass on a job if you have no interest.

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Regan of Templar Contracting. I was in the process of buying a 1957 fixer upper house with a FHA 203k loan and Regan met me there to do an estimate for repairs. I was immediately impressed because he was upfront about cost of contracted repairs (I'm a DIYer) and through our dicussion, I felt I was dealing with a WYSIWYG person with integrity.

He let me know he was there to hear my dream about the house, and as we walked from room-to-room, I could tell he knew what he was talking about.

After working our way through the inside of the house, my spirits were a little lifted thinking this rehab might be doable. However, when we went outside to inspect the "3rd room addition," I learned that this addition had T1-11 siding that had rotted away due to water damage over time, causing expansion and rot. Rather than just replacing the siding, Regan advised me that in his experience, the boards under the T1-11 were probably rotten as well, which basically meant it would need to be rebuilt, and furthermore, since it also appeared to be an unpermitted conversion of an enclosed porch, fixing this would add significantly to my rehab budget.

And if this wasn't enough, as we were inspecting this addition, Regan discovered that the cast iron sewer clean out pipe was crushed!! Fixing this would require replacing the sewer line from the house to the public sewer line. He also speculated that the pipes under the house would need to be replaced since they obviously had been exposed to air and had detoriated.

Needless to say, I was more than surprised since I had already had another contractor out to give me a bid and he didn't catch this. I canceled my contract and am still on the hunt for my new house. I will definitley give them a call for their expert opinion on repairs needed for the next one.

I'm so GRATEFUL to have met Regan and truly believe that the "shield" of Templar Contracting saved me from a potential money pit purchase. I highly recommend Templar contracting!!

Great company ran by great guys. Joey and Regan are two top notch individuals and have extensive knowledge In this industry. They truly care about the customers, and I’ve personally seen them direct customers to an alternative saving them tons of money, when they could’ve just took the job themselves.
