I LOVE Big Rock! Visiting their showroom is so inspirational! We were really excited to use their old lava flow veneer on our new house and on a retaining wall and it looks FANTASTIC! I could not be happier! All of our neighbors love it too! I've now experienced both: We had a traditional rock wall outdoor shower in our old house and all kinds of critters lived in there, including toads! That is one thing I really like about Big Rock veneer, no place for those critters to hide! Plus with the CMU underneath I feel like it's way more solid construction with the veneer. Plus hearing what a friend recently paid for a traditional rock wall, the price with Big Rock is WAY better. On top of a superior product, the customer service is excellent! Always friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend Big Rock!

We're searching for bougainvillea and so have been to most of the garden stores on the island. What a joy to have found Big Rock Garden! Chelsea walked us around enough to introduce us to the different areas, then left us alone to explore. They have everything you could possibly want in the most beautiful location imaginable. There are pots galore, plants, flowers, statues, fountains and ponds. Go here! You won't be disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all of our questions. It was a wonderful experience.

Good people and Very helpful employees. But I learned the hard way what a pain projects can be if buying here. Purchased a bunch of rocks. Wanted to make sure I did not have to make multiple trips so I over estimated on the number of rock bags. Went to return 1 extra bag and was told there is a 20% restock fee and only store credit. Its hard to estimate any large project so I figured returns would be no issue. I prefer to buy local, but in this case its just much more convenient to hit up home depot or major hardware store knowing I can avoid the return hassle.

Excellent customer service. Chelsea was very helpful and informative. We will be back and will share with others how happy we were with our purchases.

All I can say this team is simply AMAZING!!!! The best customer services I’ve had in a long time. Today I spent over 2hrs trying to select palm trees and plants, pots, etc, Chelsea, Mike and their team were extremely patient and accommodating. They offer great advice and my whole experience is great, every time I see them. Mahalo to the best team!!!

Easy access, plenty parking on road. This place sells more than just rocks. Many colors, shapes and sizes available. I used one to cover water pressure valve.

We live in Kona and placed an “off island” order. We had the pleasure working with Chelsea at Big Rock Fabricators. She was extremely professional, thorough, knowledgeable and skilled communicator. She displayed a genuine concern to “get it right” … and she did. BRF are lucky to have you on staff.

The product we received was well manufactured. We required some extra care and the company made things right.

I would not hesitate to use these guys again and would highly recommended.

Ultimate Innovations were very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Their foreman and workers did an amazing job. They helped guide us on how to maintain and preserve the job that they did. Our yard looks spectacular and our neighbors are in envy of the great work that they did.

The way in which we found this lovely nursery was a bit unique but well worth it. My Wife and I were visiting from Texas and upon arriving back at our hotel in Honolulu, I discovered that my wallet was missing. Right about that same time, I get a call from my credit card company asking to connect me to Debbie who manages Ultimate Innovations. Her and her Crew found my wallet and went out of their way to find me to deliver it back to me. When I got to the nursery I had the pleasure of meeting Debbie and seeing just how beautiful this nursery is. Beyond the beauty of the nursery, I found the beauty of the people that run this business. Not only did they return my wallet, there was not even a single dollar missing. Debbie refused to take any payment for saving my rear-end... :) It is really, really nice to know that honest and hard working people are still in this world. Thank you so much Ultimate Innovations! If I could have brought plants home with me to Austin, TX, I assure you that I would have put a nice dent in your inventory. Mahalo!!!

Life saver! I needed someone to help with my washer and dryer, and he came the same day. Ane and his son were extremely nice!

Specialists in water plants. Really know their stuff. Happy to give advice, even months after purchase.

Good selection of bamboo. The staff there is pretty friendly and helpful. They have plant sales about once a month, be sure to ask about it.

Great knowledgeable staff who gave us everything we needed to get our waterlilies started and now a couple months down the road they're blooming like crazy!!!!!!

Mulkern is a great company to work for. They have an excellent nursery in Waimanalo. The best landscape service. They'll take care of you.

I visited the Mulkern Nursery this past Saturday and was really impressed! It's set in the back of Waimanalo against the gorgeous backdrop of the Ko'olaus, and their nursery is stunning! They have an amazing variety of water lilies and a great selection of unique plants. Their staff is really friendly, and love the family business model-- Dorothy & Kevin are super knowledgable. Definitely recommend visiting them and checking out their landscape services! Mahalo nui for the tour!

Sorry, they don't have a -10 because that how I would rate Milkern Landscaping. It took them almost 2 years to start the project. They kept coming by to draw maps instead of cutting down the trees first and then plan on how to do the landscaping. They spent over $50,000 on this ridiculous amount of flowers and plants. Plus, most of the irrigation systems don't work properly. One of the values broke, and we lost over 200 gallons of water because we didn't know the values broke. Luckily, I was at home that day, or we would have a lot more water. They put sprinkler heads behind tree stumps and in front of large hanging over leaves. The sprinklers don't even hit their mark. That is why some of the grass doesn't get water. Timers don't go off when they are supposed to. And sprinklers go off when it pouring rain outside. Clients beware of this Landscaping Company. We were delighted with Mulkern Landscaping & Nursery. We wanted to redesign our landscape, including an irrigation system and an eclectic mix of plants that was relatively low maintenance. Both Kevin and Susan Mulkern really listened to our wishes, but also provided suggestions and insights from their years of experience. It was a continual negotiation of ideas (throughout the process, they never stopped listening to our ideas or confirming that we were happy with what was being done). As a result, we are elated with how our yard looks and continues to evolve. And so far, it has been taking us around 2-4 person-hours per week for the two of us to keep it maintained. For us, this is very doable, and we’re finding that, because the yard looks so great, it’s enjoyable as well.

Kevin’s sense of humor is from left field (or perhaps from outside the stadium altogether), so we laughed a lot and enjoyed being kept on our toes to get one of his asides. This made the process fun.

Another thing we really appreciated about Kevin was his respect and appreciation for his employees. Not a day passed without him telling them “Thank you” for doing tasks right or for asking questions to confirm that they knew what to do. The fact that he cares enough about his employees to let them know that he appreciates them is yet another reflection on the professionalism of Mulkern Landscaping.

He was also very creative about ways to save us money, including using existing plugs of grass to re-establish the lawn. The plugs looked to us like little chunks of dead grass, and we could not imagine that they would ever turn green, let alone fill out the whole lawn area, but it has only been a few months and we now have a full and beautiful lawn! Likewise, some of the plants were “babies” when planted (another money-saver), but they are growing taller and filling out really well.

Kevin also went beyond the call of duty. For example, he noticed that one of the neighbor’s trees was leaning well over into our space and shedding leaves and twigs onto our roof (up to that point we were regularly pruning back the tree on our side of the fence). He asked my permission to talk with the neighbor about it, and found out that the neighbor wouldn’t mind having the tree removed but didn’t want to pay to have it done. Kevin had his crew remove the tree, at no extra cost to us and at no charge to the neighbor.

Even though the work (and contract) ended, Kevin still stops by from time to time to make sure everything looks good and to see if we have any new questions or concerns.

In short, I enthusiastically recommend Mulkern Landscaping & Nursery.

We have a large cement planter that has been neglected and wanted to make it into a beautiful pond. We visited Mulkern Nursery to pick up a water lily to fill the space and transform the ugly planter pond. Kevin was very helpful and showed us the different types of water lily varieties, and explained there are some day and night blooming types. He also had a special on the beautiful red Kalo and showed us how to integrate it into the pond to give vertical height and add more color. We decided on the smaller purple day-blooming lily. He also explained how to care for it with fertilizer tablets. I now want more ponds to have more lily varieties! We don't notice how ugly the planter is anymore since we have a magical and colorful little fish pond. The plants really transformed our space.
