I had the best experience with Darla at the Fairview location. She was very patient and informative. I had so many questions. She answered every one of them with a vast amount of knowledge and truly showed me her dedication to the customer first, then the company after.

I know I will return as a happy customer!!!!!!

Great selection of pet supplies it's always a good thing when the store is pet friendly and you don't have to worry about leaving them in the car. Also a great selection of plants for the garden as well as the house. I like to be able to ask questions about the plants I am considering for the house so I know weather or not I am willing to put it the effort required to them alive. Nice enough for a small garden center. Staff were friendly and helpful and it was a nice set up. Bot not a lot of lower priced bedding plants, and no herbs that I saw. Still, I found plenty to purchase, and went home happy! I usually go to the larger ones in the area, but it's nice to find them in many locations around here!

Go Elsewhere for Propane, Price Gouging.

Jan 25th 2024 -- went in for a propane tank refill. Was excited to see a "$0.50 off sale" was going on. I checked local rate on google and saw average in the area was $2.60/gal so I was expecting a good deal at around 2.10 per gallon. The man who filled the tank didn't know the exact price (the board was blank) but was very nice and talkative while filling the tank, which is what is earning the 2nd star. Went inside to pay and a thin gal "Kaiya" (according to the receipt) rang me up at 2.99/gal. I asked if that was with the discount and she said yes. I said "wow, that is not a great sale then, with the discount it is more than anywhere else around here." She responded without any apology or empathy or sympathy whatsoever, and in a very flat voice "well its a discount here and we've already filled you up so please swipe your card". I contacted a manager at a local Jacksons and was advised their bulk propane fill rate was $2.58/gal without discounts ($0.02 less than what I googled). Clearly Z's is gouging prices to discount and still rip people off. Wont be back. Now I don't really care about $1.01 per gal over other local places when we're talking only 5 gallons, nor do I care that they are misleading about it being on "sale" with clearly heavily marked up prices; what I DO care about is the way I was treated. Customer Service at Z's is slipping and getting worse and I've had enough. As a local repairman and remodeler I will take my yard care, seed, sprinkler, and other needs back to Home Depot or Lowes and will skip a local company that does not seem to show concern regarding their reputation in the community.

Update to owners reply: respectfully I disagree that your pricing is fair and competitive. I've already verified it's not and cited my source. As to your request to alter my review: having read your other reviews I see you don't mind employee names mentioned in other reviews and have both thanked other reviews that use names and used employees names in your responses so I will not remove it in mine. Perhaps you might educate your employees that you print their names on receipts and being rude or acting unacceptably can get called out. I see no reason from your reply to come around again and wish you good luck in your future staff training.

I basically live here, Boise is soooo SMALL and this is the only place I can find most of what I need for my reptiles. Staff is always very assisting from the moment you walk in to loading your vehicle. Thanks for being such a reliable business for so many years. I also recently have started a freshwater aquarium and occasionally they have some really cool finds.

I like this place. It's fun to window-shop and learn about the animals and fish while I can't own them in my apartment.
You might find a slightly better deal on some staples elsewhere but here you'll find professionalism and knowledgeable help.

Zamzows is amazing. They know their stuff. I love their lawn care program, all my neighbors are jealous of my lawn. I also appreciate how they are able to help you diagnosis your lawn issues. Rather you take in a sample of the lawn or often explain the issues they can guide you to the best treatment for your yard. Thank you!

I love this store and will seriously drive past two or three other stores to only shop here. This store has awesome variety, is well maintained and stocked, pricing is fair. If ever they don't have what I'm looking for, they're happy to place an order. The animals are well cared for by knowledgeable staff who are always personable and eager to help. Highly recommend!

I like Zamzows, that's why I go. Believe in Jim's products and share in his beliefs.
Today, customer service was nonexistent. 4 employees, 2 customers and I had to make three trips to carry out 10 cu ft bale of shavings, 50 lb dog food and the propane tank. Not even a hint of help.
It makes me wonder where great customer service has gone.
The question should be asked of the employee, would you want help taking your purchase to the car to save you a few trips? Would you feel valued if someone were to help you? Hmmmm.

Excellent store and staff!! Yes you can get things from Amazon, but when I don't want to wait and need advice immediately, the staff at this location is my go-to. The store manager remembers me by name and always goes the extra mile to take care of my needs. I've referred 4 of my friends just for the lawn program there, what a steal!! Wish they had more exotic pets!!

Nice layout. Clean and very friendly and helpful staff. We also love to check out the live animals every time we stop in. It’s my kids favorite. Sometimes they have a humane society pet for adoption it looks like showcased at the front of the animal section which I love. Helping find homes for pets in need. Beautiful idea. In the spring we love to go check out the greenhouse area and pick up some of our starts.

This is generally my absolute favorite store to buy feed and hay locally. There will sometimes be some price mismatches, but in general everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They have a lovely selection of pottery, and the atmosphere is soothing.

Great neighborhood pet and garden center! I like it because it is smaller, you don't have to hike a mile to get to stuff, but they have a good selection. I go here for cat and dog food, supplies, wild bird seed, pest control and fertilizer. I love their greenhouse, in spring and summer I always find plants for the garden. They have been friendly about my curbside pickup requests since the pandemic. New in 2025 they have a dog treat bakery case!

Terrible experience at your Boise Idaho Fairview location. My family and I had to run in to get some emergency items for our aquarium. When we were in my kids saw a Glow Angel fish they really wanted. We asked the employee if we could get the fish and he said “you can’t get it right now we close in 5 mins”. I said “your not going to sell us the fish?”. To which he said “no we close in 5 minutes by the time someone gets it for you we will be past closing”. We were the ONLY customers in the store and there were 3 employees just standing at the checkout. I put all my stuff down, walked out and went to Petco. We spend A LOT of money at your stores and no one deserves to be treated like this. If you don’t want to work after 6:55 then don’t say you are open until 7. I will no longer be shopping with you guys and I will be sure to let my friends and family know how they will be treated if they shop with you.

Got some topsoil last week that was completely full of clay chunks the size of my fist! Called and spoke to the manager, no offer to make it right, just “thanks for letting us know”. Go to Cloverdale if you need any soil. Zamzows used to be a good place for pet and yard needs…. I find them to be overpriced for substandard goods these days and they don’t seem to stand behind their stuff.

This place has great prices, great supplies, and healthy pets who are ready to be adopted! The staff is very knowledgeable about pretty much everything they sell. I love coming here because it feels like I’m in a man-made jungle when I’m in the plant section! You can find almost anything you need for your pets, and much more.

I was in this afternoon (12/27/22) and I just wanted to give a shout out to the staff. They were all so friendly towards the customers as well as each other and I really appreciate that. Lots of pretty plants fairly priced too! It made me happy to be there after a long work day. Thanks y’all! :)
