Terrible experience at your Boise Idaho Fairview location. My family and I had to run in to get some emergency items for our aquarium. When we were in my kids saw a Glow Angel fish they really wanted. We asked the employee if we could get the fish and he said “you can’t get it right now we close in 5 mins”. I said “your not going to sell us the fish?”. To which he said “no we close in 5 minutes by the time someone gets it for you we will be past closing”. We were the ONLY customers in the store and there were 3 employees just standing at the checkout. I put all my stuff down, walked out and went to Petco. We spend A LOT of money at your stores and no one deserves to be treated like this. If you don’t want to work after 6:55 then don’t say you are open until 7. I will no longer be shopping with you guys and I will be sure to let my friends and family know how they will be treated if they shop with you.

Got some topsoil last week that was completely full of clay chunks the size of my fist! Called and spoke to the manager, no offer to make it right, just “thanks for letting us know”. Go to Cloverdale if you need any soil. Zamzows used to be a good place for pet and yard needs…. I find them to be overpriced for substandard goods these days and they don’t seem to stand behind their stuff.

This place has great prices, great supplies, and healthy pets who are ready to be adopted! The staff is very knowledgeable about pretty much everything they sell. I love coming here because it feels like I’m in a man-made jungle when I’m in the plant section! You can find almost anything you need for your pets, and much more.

I was in this afternoon (12/27/22) and I just wanted to give a shout out to the staff. They were all so friendly towards the customers as well as each other and I really appreciate that. Lots of pretty plants fairly priced too! It made me happy to be there after a long work day. Thanks y’all! :)

Very friendly people and staff with a great selection of even pet food

Called ahead of time to ask if something was in stock the person on the phone checked immediately and told me it was, when I stepped in I was able to find it along with a few more items and they person at checkout was also extremely nice. Had a great convo about our tank animals (mine being a gecko and a scorpion and theirs a frog). Very nice people and lots of variety in stock!

I went to the Fairview Zamzows to see if I could find a plant light for my succulents while I store them inside my shed. Last year they froze without a light and some heat. I learned my lesson. I met the manager and he showed me a few lights that would work depending on what I wanted. He then suggested I look at a heat light that lizards use in their cages. Sure! To make a long story short....I LOVE MY PLANT LIGHT AND IT HAS A TIMER AND MY SUCCULENTS LOOK GREAT! The manager was attentive, innovative, and a great problem solver, especially since I am on a budget. I've visited several times since and am so impressed with the level of care and professionalism this Zamzows exhibits. Top notch customer service and they really know their products. THANK YOU ZAMZOWS FOR BEING A PART OF IDAHO!

Shopping local is very important to me and it's easy to do so when I can find whatever I may be looking for from pet supplies to plants at Zamzows! The staff here are not only incredibly friendly and greet you with a smile but they are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Amazing place and great customer service. Knew the knowledge of animals and how to care for them.

I had been across the street and locked my keys in my truck.So I walked over to Zamzos on Fairview to look for one of those cat toy sticks to maybe unlock it.And was met with the utmost help I could’ve ever asked for Ben And Jerry not only helped me find something to use but helped me do it.these guys saved the day it was 97 out so I am very thankful for there help.I owe them some beer!

We came here to buy a fish to replace a gold fish from the fair sadly did not make it. Zamzows offered us great service and friendly advice on how to care for our new pet Beta. I'm happy to say we are a week in and Fighty is still looking good!

Found the most perfect beautiful ceramic dish to hang for the birds to drink water out of! Thanks Gail for showing us exactly what we were looking for! And it was on sale!

Huge indoor and outdoor plant selection, tons of local soil and dirt options, and very helpful staff. It's my favorite for home, garden, and pet stuff!

I get all of my backyard pond plants here as well as really clean and affordable and clean bulk fill (topsoil, compost, sand or gravel). Anyone taking on yard projects can probably find what they need here.

I want to thank the staff, for not getting upset with me while my puppy poo'd on the floor. They were so quick to help me clean, not get upset, and we were actually there to pick up dog food! We have been with their lawn service since we moved here. We really appreciate it and sorry again!!!!

I still love Zamzows for plants, feeders, and cat supplies — they’ve always been my go-to for that. But outside of those areas, my experience has really gone downhill. I used to feel welcome when I visited, but now I mostly get ignored or watched from around the corner, which feels uncomfortable.

As someone with a background in exotic animal care and husbandry, I have to say their reptile husbandry is lacking. I regret not taking photos, but every time I check, the reptiles are in poor setups: tanks are too small, UVB lights look like they haven’t been changed in ages, and most enclosures use reptile carpet, which I’ve seen covered in mold — especially in the chameleon’s tank.

The fish section generally looks great, but their reptile care sheets are outdated and inaccurate. I frequently stop by the Water Tower location and have been keeping an eye on a butterfly agama there. The poor thing looks absolutely miserable. After asking questions, I found out he’s wild-caught and terrified of people — no surprise, since he’s a wild animal. He clearly has MBD (metabolic bone disease) and mouth rot, which I personally observed getting worse over the course of a week. An employee claimed they "just noticed" it the day I asked — really?

I’ve worked and shopped at Zamzows before, and while it’s a great store for many things, they clearly need a knowledgeable herpetologist on staff. Reptiles shouldn’t be left to employees who aren’t trained in their care. Until that changes, I’ll only be coming in for plants and feeders.

I love Zamzows so much, I go to different locations frequently. I mainly go there for my reptile supplies, but after coming to this store I was pretty disappointed. I’ve always chose Zamzows because of their fantastic animal care, always choosing the best options even for temporary care. Several of lizards were on reptile carpet which is actually really bad for them. On top of this there was improper tank sizes and hides. The Leopard Gecko had little to no humid areas. While I love Zamzows, this location definitely disappointed me a little. I know that these animals are here for a temporary time, but the care they’re given in that time is why animal lovers choose Zamzows over other pet stores and lawn places. It’s still better than Petco or Petsmart, but I can’t help but feel a little angered by it.

Jared was super helpful!! (Long blonde hair) he helped us pick out a ton of different fish and two rats and it wasn’t even his department!!! We are so happy about our new pets but he definitely deserves some recognition! :)

Manager Enoch has the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I brought my vehicle here to get my propane filled . It’s an older class C motorhome van so the valve to fill the propane is underneath the van not on the side. Still accessible. I’ve had my propane filled at this location 3 times before with a really nice young man with longer hair. I wish I knew his name because he’s always been amazing. Well I go tonight and Enoch tries to tell me I’ve never had it done there and that they don’t have an employee that I’m describing, then flips the script when I insisted I’ve had it done by that employee and he says they’re gonna fire him or they had fired him. Dont know why he’s the only good employee I’ve encountered here. Then proceeds to gaslight me that I’ve never had it done there when I had. He didn’t even TRY. Yes I know it’s an older vehicle it takes a little bit more effort to get it done. Enoch didn’t even try at all claims I can’t come back and get it done there. The lack of effort was insane. Hopefully they fire this manager or tell him to treat customers better.

I went to Zamzows today for a succulent potting class and it was so much fun! The instructors were knowledgeable and helpful without making anyone feel silly. My friend and I had so much fun. Can't wait for another plant class to help turn my black thumb green!!
