Sims and sons and their team is a fully comprehensive electrical full service company who came to my home with a plethora of different issues. They quoted us immediately completed work in a super professional manner. The Darrell Sims managed and handled the project. we got an EV charger installed, a quarter section of our house rewired ,would recommend to all ! do yourself a favor and call this electrical company !

Highly recommend Darrell and Sims & Sons. They provide high quality electrical work at a fair price and you can feel confident that they are not overselling you on what needs to be done. They are very responsive and professional, arriving on time and being respectful of your home.

Darrell came out to assess an electrical problem in my bathroom and diagnosed the problem right away, fixing it 30 mins later during the same visit, on the same day. Other electricians who I had contacted had advised that more work was needed on a separate appointment and at a higher cost.

Needless to say, I will be recommending Sims & Sons to neighbors, friends and family in their service area.

Sims & Sons got our new home up to date and more importantly, up to code! Darrell was friendly and very easy to deal with for our estimate and explained everything they were going to do in detail but also in a way anyone could understand. The crew that did our work, Dylan, Amel, and Slobo showed up early and got to work immediately. The crew were friendly and each one them were happy to answer all of my questions throughout the day. They even stayed after the main work was done to help me with a few other electrical fixes I didn't feel comfortable doing myself. We look forward to hiring this crew again for our next couple of projects.

My air conditioning unit crapped out on the hottest day of the year. Another company came out and said it was an issue with our breaker and to call an electrician. I called Sims & Sons and Darrel went so much further than "above and beyond" begins to describe. Before sending anyone out to take a look, he talked me through a 10 minute long call of things to check. After spending that time on the phone we determined it WASN'T anything electrical and referred me to an HVAC team that would be able to help me out and they are already coming same day. He saved ME money and he made no money from this interaction. He just didn't want to waste anyones time and that alone has sealed the deal that I will come to Darrel and Sims & Sons for all future electrical needs. Christian and Romero from Sims and Sons were magnificent! Courteous, Prompt, Communicative, and they did exactly what they said they’d do—WELL and for exactly the price they quoted—I have an old house and garage with wacky wiring and everything and they EVEN installed the outlet as I asked so the plug faced the right way for me to hang the charger up - hiring them to do more projects starting in another week!

My 1880s Chicago condo is not easy to deal with. From start to finish, Sims & Sons was one of the most professional, personable, and experienced contractors I’ve worked with. Relocated a panel to be code compliant and I feel much better about the safety of our unit. Could not recommend enough.

Amazing work on a complicated re-wire by the Sims and Sons team! After buying a fixer upper house, my husband called Darrell after working with him at our past condo, and he did a thorough walkthrough of our house's electric and was honest about which projects were highest priority. We decided to rewire the whole house and after agreeing on an all-in price, Darrell's team did much more than just replace all the cloth wiring (a big undertaking by itself) - they customized everything to our liking including replacing all the lighting, adding new circuits in strategic locations, and setting up digital doorbells and cameras. The team worked tirelessly to get everything wired in time for move-in, then returned several times to hang light fixtures and ceiling fans. Thanks to Slobo, JJ, Dylan and Amel for all their work. We look forward to working with the team again when we refinish our basement and rewire our garage.

I contacted Sims & Sons to fix broken conduit and wiring in our condo building's garage and they were able to respond quickly and leave the garage better than they found it! The price was reasonable for how quickly they were able to get it done and making sure it was done right. Andy, Ezra, and Dylan ran new conduit and wiring, and waterproofed everything in a couple hours and even swept up trash they didn't leave. They will be my first call every time!

Andy and Jay installed two new bathroom vents in my condo to replace some very old units. One of the vents was much more complicated than expected but they did an outstanding job changing course when needed to get the job done. I’ll be using these folks for any future electric and plumbing work I need help with. These folks are the real deal—you are getting quality work. They arrived on site a little early, which was great, and were more than willing to wait while I got things ready for them. Very flexible to work with. Easy to book them. Excellent work.

Darrell is a fantastic electrician. This was not the first time I've utilized his services, and it certainly won't be the last. He's extremely knowledgable and, when requested, takes the time to explain what he's doing and why. During his most recent visit, he installed a pendant for me (pictured) as well as a dimmer switch. As someone who knows nothing about the trades, this was super valuable for me! Not only is he extremely talented, but you can also tell that he is a good man who genuinely cares about his customers and doing a good job. I highly recommend his services!

We’ve been turning to Sims and Sons—and, in particular, to Darrell and his incredible team—since my husband and I moved into our home nearly a decade ago. From the very first call, Darrell impressed us with his patience and clarity: he’d listen intently to our questions, break complex wiring concepts down into everyday language, and never once make me feel as though I was asking a silly question.

Over the years, Sims and Sons have tackled every electrical challenge we’ve thrown at them. They completely overhauled our lighting on all four floors—dimmers in the living areas and smart-home integration throughout. They ran dedicated circuits for our bidet seats, installed three bathroom fan/heater/light combos (each on its own new circuit), and designed and fitted custom under-cabinet lighting that turned our once-gloomy kitchen into the bright, bustling heart of the house. No matter the scale of the job, Darrell approached it with meticulous attention to detail: drop cloths laid down, workspaces scrubbed clean, and wires tucked away so neatly you’d never know they were there.

But beyond the impeccable workmanship, it’s Darrell’s friendliness that keeps us coming back. He and my husband often find themselves deep in conversation about videogames such as Mass Effect. Those lighthearted chats somehow make every visit feel less like a service call and more like catching up with an old friend.

Throughout every project, Darrell and his crew remain unfailingly polite and discreet. They remember to say hello to our two dachshunds (and give them a friendly pat), never rush through a job, and always double-check that we’re happy with the results before packing up for the day. Even a simple outlet installation feels like a five-star experience.

Nearly ten years on, Sims and Sons have never let us down—whether tackling a major redesign or a quick fix. Darrell is simply the best! His team is trustworthy and they do absolutely excellent work. He was so easy to work with and communicated the entire process. They not only did excellent work but cleaned up so well it looked like nothing had been done. We highly recommend!

Sims & Sons really went above and beyond for us, and I don't think I'll work with any other electrician.

We needed a power outlet installed behind a new TV mounted above our fireplace. This wasn't a straightforward task and required them cutting into the old plaster walls to route new conduit. They took care to safely move and cover our furniture to protect it from dust, and wiped down all the surfaces and floors in our living room after the job was complete.

After they left, we re-mounted the TV and realized that it didn't cover the outlet as much as we expected. We called the crew and they came back at the end of the day to help us troubleshoot. They were very patient and generously worked with us to make sure everything was perfect.

That's where the story normally would have ended, but days following the electrical work we hired a company to patch and paint the damaged areas of our walls. That company did an awful job with the repair and ruined the new power outlet in the process. I called Sims & Sons' owner and he immediately got us in touch with a trusted drywaller that they've worked with for 15+ years.

More than just showing up and doing the work, they were partners on this project of ours along the way.

My wife and I recently purchased an older house with outdated electrical systems. We called Sims and Sons to ground outlets, reground our water main, update our circuit box, and replace some rag and other unsafe circuitry. Kamal came out and did our estimation and was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He set us at ease with what seemed like a complicated situation that could get out of control. Their estimate was very affordable, and when they came they did great work. They were professional, communicated clearly, and really did an excellent job at a fairly large set of tasks. The entire crew was friendly and experts, Slobo, JJ, Dylan, and the head of the crew Darrell. We are doing future electrical work and made a plan with Darrell about the best way to proceed and to reach out when we are ready for next steps (converting some gas appliances to electric). We could not be more grateful for the Sims and Sons team. We had water damage to our circuit breaker that required a full replacement urgently. The team came out extremely quickly to assess the situation, and had a wonderful group out to fix the problem expediently (in fact, they had the job DONE before any other company could even complete an accurate assessment for us.. and before two even called us back)!

The weather damage that caused us to need an electrician was extensive, but they took extra caution and a LOT of time to leave our home in significantly better shape than it was before they came, even taking steps to clear off our roof and add additional seal to keep us safe from the elements moving forward.
