Permidt has always been responsive in emergencies. For emergency and non-emergency the plumbers are knowledgeable and professional. I would never hesitate to recommend them!

I have had nothing but very good experiences with Permidt Enineering. Everybody has been very knowledgeable about plumbing and related systems that are to be taken into account when preforming any repairs or new installations. John has always taken the time to answer my questions and isn't going to try to upsell me anything I don't need. Very stand up guys. Roger was very helpful in answering questions and it was obvious he has alot of experience in plumbing and more. Everyone needs a Roger. I won't go anywhere else even if they want me too, (I'm a handful).

Permidt is great about coming out right away whenever we have a problem. The plumbers are friendly, polite, courteous and professional and their services are fairly priced.

I had my River Forest kitchen sink all but stop draining. I was referred to them from another plumber who couldn't make it out ASAP. Fritz and Sam came out within a day and had the drain rodded out in no time. (The likely culprit: grease. 🤦‍♂️) They were great and let me pepper them with questions about my house and were open to me asking and insightful.

After we smelled gas in our home and contacted Nicor for an inspection, we were scrambling to find someone to help us quickly repair a couple of gas pipes that were leaking. Our usual plumber couldn't make it for a few weeks. They referred us to Permidt, who were able to send techs to our home within an hour of my call. I'm grateful that they were able to quickly repair our issue the same day. Because they arrived promptly and completed the repairs quickly, I was able to have Nicor return the same afternoon and give us the all-clear. So, I'm super thankful that we were able to resolve everything in a matter of hours, and I was hoping that I'd found another primary or secondary plumbing service we could rely on.

But, there were a couple of serious issues that give me pause:

    1. The techs were sent to the wrong address at first. They ended up a few blocks away at an apartment. Not a huge deal since they were close, and the techs called me to re-confirm the address. Not sure how that mixup occurred.

    2. When the techs came to my door, they weren't wearing masks. When I asked if they had masks, they gave an annoyed shrug and said plainly "No." I offered them a couple of my own masks, to which they obliged and wore during their stay. But when they were done, the masks were covering only their mouths (PSA: masks don't work at all if they don't cover the mouth AND nose, y'all). Then, they started to leave with my masks still in their possession (these were good quality, washable, reusable masks that took some effort to acquire). I asked for them back, to which they again obliged. I'm happy to share masks when necessary, but I just don't understand how a profession that requires going into people's homes isn't prepared for that circumstance... like, at all. I have a kid who only got her first vaccine dose last week. We could have had immunocompromised people inside. Don't assume that you can just come into someone's home without the appropriate protection during a damn pandemic. You still have to wear masks to go inside most public places. Why would a house be different? This is a pretty major safety issue for my family.

    3. When they were finished, they turned the gas back on to my home, and checked all the pilot lights. That's great... except that was a step Nicor was supposed to do. Nicor wanted to reinspect the home after the repairs were complete to verify that no further leaks were detected. My bad for not communicating that up front. I guess I assumed they'd follow a known protocol like that? It at least would've been helpful if the techs had asked before they took that step.

Again, I'm very grateful that Permidt was able to promptly and efficiently resolve the gas leak. I was in a bind, needed work done promptly, and it's awesome that they were able to help. But a few simple considerations made a major difference in how I perceive their business.

Upper and lower toilets backed up. Our Stack was clogged, used cleanout to clear roots. Sam and Daniel came out same day, from the next suburb. We were very happy with the service. Cost $400. Thank you Permidt Engineering.

Permidt always does an excellent job when called to our house over a plumbing concern. They’re quick to respond and have always been able to resolve whatever the issue may be.

Permidt is probably the best plumbing company in town. They are honest, professional, and have very reasonable rates. They really do great work and they are very straight forward with what needs to be done, and don't try to sell you on things you don't need. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, my first impression of Permidt Engineering wasn't a good one. On Monday, May 15th, my HOA hired Permidt to investigate a major plumbing leakage that was impacting my condo. Permidt sent two guys out to find out where the leakage was coming from. One of the guys was very nice and professional, but the other guy wasn't and fairly condescending.

While I did step back and allow the two "plumbers" to do their inspection, I did ask one of the "plumbers" if it's possible there's a broken pipe behind my wall that's causing the leak. His unprofessional/smart aleck response to me was "I don't know, I don't have x-ray vision" and later told me I was having foundation issues. My thought: Isn't it your job as a company that specializes in "sewer cleaning and repair" to find out if there's a broken pipe?!

After hiring THREE waterproofing and foundation contractors and another plumber, all FOUR individuals were immediately able to inform me that my issue was a plumbing issue behind my wall (Like what I originally asked Permidt's "plumber"). Now I'm back to step 1 with having the HOA send out another plumber, while there's still rain water and sewage from other units consistently flowing into my unit... Please hire more professional, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented people, PLEASE!

Update: I've been working with John, and so far he has been great with keeping me updated regarding finding out the issue with my condo.

I have used this firm several times. They are prompt, fair and do a great job. They have done simple drain cleanings to sewer pipe replacement outside. I will keep them on my "go-to plumber " list.

    UPDATE:
3Guys came out today and rodded out my main line and checked the flood control. I had also asked them to look at the rear drain by my back stairs. Before they left, they admitted to not looking at the rear drain. I called the office, the crew returned, rodded out the back drain and then charged me an additional $175. After being a customer for several years, I will probably be looking for a new plumber.

I have had Permidt out twice, and both times they were great. The first time my hot water heater went out on me during a cold snap. I called in the morning and they came out the same day to install a new water heater. The second time I called them out to rod out my main line and inspect my flood control pit since my basement flooded. They were helping a lot of other people with floods as well, so I had to wait a day, but I was fine with that since the water already subsided and I needed them to help me prevent any additional flooding. The price they charged for rodding the main line to the street plus inspecting the pump to the flood control pit was very reasonable ($370). I thought the bill was going to be much higher since they spent a good amount of time to make sure no more flooding would occur. I am having them come out today to install a new garbage disposer under my kitchen sink. I called late yesterday afternoon and someon is coming out this morning. They have always been very responsive and I appreciate it.

Permidt Engineering has been my go to plumbing company for years. I have a house that was built in 1926 so there are always plumbing issues. Christina is the office person and is always pleasant and responsive! Tommy was just here last month to fix a leaky toilet! I am glad to have them as part of my house "team".

Hello: I am a partner in a strip mall in Norridge IL. We have two restaurants in our mall which causes a lot of grease and ends up blocking our main sewer line.... Permidt Engineering came out within 24 hrs. and rodded and jetted and was there for quite a while. They were very professional and their price was very reasonable and got the job done. We have been there since 1968 and have had many plumbers over the decades and without a doubt Permidt Engineering is the only Company that I would ever deal with in the future. We have been dealing with John the owner for years now and he is very dependable and honest....THANK YOU JOHN and all your employees.....Truly Appreciate it..... Ronnie Amodeo . Permidt to the rescue, that's for sure. My friend just bought a house after saving for many years and within the first month the hot water tank was leaking. I called Permidt for her and I don't think I've ever experienced anything faster, better, more efficient and affordable...ever. I couldn't be more impressed, she was so grateful and I had to leave a review so anyone looking for the BEST plumbing service would call Permidt. Thank you!

Permidt Engineering installed a new electric hot water heater in my condo along with 2 high toilets and removed the old toilets. I found them to be very courteous during installation. Because I reside out of state I had to ask them to pull the permits for the installation from the city. If I needed more work to be done , I would call them.
