This company has our highest recommendation as they were highly communicative every step of the way, culling through and transforming our laundry list of needs into a beautiful three-dimensional pool, grill & patio living space. Duane and his staff are amazing. I have known the owner for many years and have had the pleasure of seeing his designs flourish. Duane cares for detail. I remember hearing him say that details were more important to him than quick volume orders. Everything from from compound miter cuts on stone to LEDs over incandescent before they were popular. If you’re looking for quality, then VizX is it.

We are very pleased with our outdoor living project with VizX. We wanted to turn our small backyard into a modern oasis, complete with outdoor television, built in fire pit, patio and beautiful landscaping. VizX did just that. We are so happy to have been introduced to the outdoor living lifestyle! The attention to detail from start to finish was unmatched!! We had tried three landscaping companies before finding VizX Design. We were ecstatic at the different and complex approach Duane utilized. We voiced our pain points with out backyard and Duane was able to create a beautiful design to solve all our structural issues and our vision. We were able to work with his team to complete our vision from design to the final plant being put in the ground. Our backyard is now a “wow factor” to everyone who sees it. Duane saw more in our backyard than we did and we are thrilled with the final product. He has continued to be a resource for more ideas and upgrades with our backyard. VizX Design was top notch to take out city sized backyard to an oasis.

I worked with VizX Design Studios from July 2024 to January 2025. During that time, I did not receive full payment for work completed in December and January. I was also told I could either resign or continue working without pay.

I followed up many times and even had my attorney reach out, but as of more than twelve months later, I still have not received the remaining $2,700 owed to me. I have since filed a wage claim with the Illinois Department of Labor to resolve the matter.

This was my experience, and I share it so that prospective employees, contractors, and clients can make informed decisions. Proceed carefully and be sure to protect yourself.

It was the best decision I ever made to work with Duane Draughon & VizX Design Studios. I met Duane when I was newly diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to transform my back yard into a tranquil space I could use to recover in. He sat & listened to my needs to completely understand and then offered suggestions of his own. He guided me through the process so I knew everything that was going on and what the expectations were. His contractors were beyond fabulous. Kind, considerate, on time, hard working & meticulous. I couldn’t believe how fast the project was completed. Duane stopped in during the installation to make sure everything was going as expected & to see how I was doing. He was concerned about the project but also about me as a person as well. I not only got a spectacular backyard, I got a friend out of this as well. I can’t recommend Duane & his contractors enough. If you have a vision, Duane will bring it to life.

It was the home I grew up in, and I had a very clear vision rooted in both memory and function. ✨🏡A Backyard Design You Only See in Magazines 🪻✨

My husband found VizX through Instagram and we reached out by email. Their admin team quickly helped us schedule a consultation with the designer, Duane, who met with us in our home. He really took the time to understand our style and how we use both the inside and outside of our home, which was thoughtfully reflected in the design. His main focus was making sure we felt confident and happy with the plan before moving forward.

Duane served as both designer and project manager, which made the process very streamlined for us. He's very skilled and you can tell he's been doing this for a very long time! There are no other designs like this in all of IL. His team was very professional and trustworthy. While the project was delayed a few times due to weather and material logistics, everything ultimately came together smoothly—finishing just about a week past the original timeline. Duane checked in regularly on-site, and Isabel, his wife, kept me sane throughout the process!

We are extremely happy with the finished patio and were able to enjoy it often in the fall. My daughter, nieces and nephews especially love spending time outside, hanging out by the firepit and making s’mores.

Overall, our time and investment with VizX were well worth it. I can't believe it took me forever to pull the trigger --my advice to my past self would be "just get err done already! You will not regret it with VizX!" Thank you, Duane, Isabel and to the entire VizX team for your hard work and efforts in thoughtfully translating my vision into reality. 🙏💚

Very Professional and respectful. Did a great job in the repairs and cleaning up the work area. I'd call them again and recommend them to others.

Ryan wonderfully renovated our kitchen by giving us an open floor plan and adding an island. He also takes care of our landscaping in the summer months and installed our pool! We use him for all home improvements and have never been disappointed.

Had our old sewer pipe running through our backyard dug up and replaced after it collapsed. Got multiple quotes, and Ryan's was the best by a big margin. He started work the next morning (on a Saturday) and had things in a working state by the afternoon. For comparison, no one else we talked to was even able to start until the next Monday. He was also very flexible, working around a half-finished deck project that the pipe ran under. Very happy with the work he did, and would highly recommend him to anyone else.

BEWARE OF RYAN'S LANDSCAPING for any projects!

We contracted the company mid-May to pour concrete to extend our outdoor patio. They promised they would start at the beginning of June but didn't start until the week of July 4th. They dug the space in our backyard and didn't come back until September to finish the project! A whole summer with a huge muddy gap in our backyard! I contacted Ryan multiple times, asking when he's going to come back to finish the work, and he always had some sort of excuse. They also damaged our lawn completely in the process and asked how they could make it right, so we said asked them to fix what they damaged. They agreed and fast forward to today (6 months later), and the work still isn't complete.

Booking was a breeze when I called in with my idea and availability. More than ample communication for any changes in design from the original idea. The best was the early morning start, the guys were down and loaded before I even came home from work! Thank you - will be rebooking with this hidden gem!

I have been putting off writing this review in the hopes that Ryan would have made this right, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Ryan and his team built a deck for us. Initially we were pleased with the results but there is one board that kept bothering us. The first board that is seen when we walk out of our house tapers to nothing. Cosmetically it looks off and weird. After measuring both sides of the deck we realized the deck is shorter on one side and that is why the board had to be cut to taper to nothing. When we brought up our concerns he told us our house was probably “out of square.” We consulted with another contractor that told us this is absolutely ridiculous and that he did not square the deck to the wall. We also have 2 railings that are loose and have called and texted him multiple times and he will not respond or gives us excuses as to why he hasn’t made it to our house to discuss these concerns and fix the railings. He already has our money so I guess he’s just going to bail on us completely. When we hired him he said he stands behind his work but he does not when he won’t even come to explain and fix the railings.

I find it hard to believe you are going to call us when you specifically said you will only communicate with us in text going forward. We tried to get you to come for over a month and we had availability during the day earlier in the summer but you would not respond. We have asked you to show us in person how you measured the deck and you do not want to face us in person. This is a joke and your way of claiming you care about our complaints for anyone that looks at your reviews.

My apartment was a mess when I was supposed to be moving in. The paint was uneven and had bubbles, drywall above the shower was peeling off, multiple light fixtures and switches didn’t work, the stove didn’t work. He fixed everything in about 2 days and did a fantastic job! I will definitely use him again.
