Construction Company reviews in Wheaton, Illinois

Great work by great folks.

Great bunch of guys...very professional....

Integrity and character are no small thing these days when it comes to contractors. These guys are 100% trustworthy. Impeccable attention to every single detail.

Derek and Adam are honest, reliable, and really care about their clients. They take so much pride in their work, and it produces an end result that is truly outstanding!

Amazing attention to detail, stayed within budget, trustworthy beyond reproach, honest, friendly, knowledgeable, ...I could go on and on! It was truly a great experience to work with Adam and Derek....Incredible work by talented guys :)

Working with these guys was the best home-improvement experience I’ve ever had. They were professional, on time, and when there was a problem they not only identified it upfront, they were ready with solutions and options that made a lot of sense. They have done even more work for one of the people in my neighborhood and they feel the same way that I do about them. After my experience with these guys I don’t want anybody else working on my house.

If this is what you are looking for in a General Contractor:

1) Honest Opinions
2) Constant Communication
3) Trustworthiness
4) On Time Completion

Then look no further as De Groot is your choice. They helped us get pricing for renovations on a house before we put in the offer but we unfortunately didn't get it. Then we found our eventual house and De Groot did all our renovations. We were extremely satisfied and will definitely use them again for our next big project!

There’s a reason that DeGroot Construction has a five star rating everywhere. They’re the most professional, talented and honest builders you’ll find. Their singular goal is to satisfy their client, and they’ll use every resource to do that. Their subcontractors are top-notch, too. We used DeGroot for a kitchen addition and new garage, and the finished
product is fabulous. We actually miss having them around, now that it’s done.

We couldn’t be happier with how our basement remodel turned out. From start to finish DeGroot provided the highest level of service and expertise. They are also extremely personable and always make your concerns a priority. We will definitely be using them for our next project.

We were told DeGroot was the best, and they are. Even through a global pandemic, with an economy on hold and quarantine measures in place, Adam and Derek managed to safely, quickly and with lots of laughs, beautifully transform our new house into our dream home. The entire DeGroot team truly cares about their expert craftsmanship, and I miss them all now that the job is done! So glad we made this choice. Definitely choose DeGroot...Laura Likey!

De Groot Construction did some outside work for us at our shop(Country Naturals). Derek and Adam were the nicest guys and hard workers. They were there for us when we needed them. So happy with their work. I would definitely recommend them!

We had our basement finished this past May by DeGroot Construction. From the beginning of the process, everyone we dealt with was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The work was done with a high level of quality and was done on time. We are so thrilled with our new basement and are so happy to have worked with DeGroot Construction on this project!! We would recommend them every time!

DeGroot handled our finishing our basement last fall and I cannot recommend them enough. Not only did they work with our budget, but they presented us with an online calendar prior to starting and stuck to it. If any changes occurred, they were proactive in letting us know. Knowing who was going to be in our house and when was huge. Each evening they came back to inspect the work that had been done, cleaned up and *vacuumed* the areas in the house where they had been (front door to the basement entrance). They are professional, hardworking, and I would use them for all projects.

De Groot completed 2 separate projects on outer house over a 9 month period. Both projects were completed on time and on budget. When I say it was completed time - it was the exact day that was projected at the onset of the projects. Of all of the projects and contractors we have had at our house of the years, these guys are the best of the best and any future projects will go through DeGroot. Great work from initial planning, to permits, excellent sub-contractors, and beautiful craftsmanship. Quality people.

Adam, Derek and the rest were as professional as it gets. All their suggestions were spot on and I never felt like they were just trying to spend my money. They were on time always and were very clean throughout the rehab of my basement. They were very friendly and we always felt comfortable with them in our house. We could not be more pleased with the results. Along with the finished product, working with them from start to finish exceeded our expectations. We will definitely use them for future projects.

Everyone we interacted with at De Groot Construction was both professional and personable! Most important, they followed thru and did everything they said they would do and did it ON TIME! The quality of their work on our kitchen was fantastic and the project turned out even better than we could've imagined. We would highly recommend their services and will not look anywhere else when time to tackle our next remodel/home improvement project.

Would recommend De Groot Construction to everyone. Had my master and hall bathrooms done by Adam and Derek and am very happy their work. They were always on time and let us know when they would arrive and which days they would be working. Their coordination of the plumbers, electricians, etc. was excellent. They worked with us even though we went outside of their normal contractors for the vanities and countertops. They laid down floor protection and always cleaned up after their work each day. They are very friendly and provided helpful insight at various decision points during the project. When we had an issue with new village building codes regarding smoke and CO detectors, they were able to work with the village to find us a cost effective solution. Their integrity is extremely high. I'm very glad that I hired them and wouldn't hesitate to do so again in the future.cleaned up after their work day. Very friendly and helpful. Very glad I hired them and would hire them again in the future.

This is a long overdue shout out to DeGroot Construction. Adam and his team did an absolutely incredible job for us on a third floor bedroom/bathroom remodel last year. They were thorough, trustworthy, and did extremely high quality craftsmanship. They will be our “go to” contractor from here on out. We recently called Adam asking if he and his team could make time to put in a wheelchair ramp at our house for my dad who is ill. As usual, we got a quick response, the work completed faster than we could have imagined, and a ramp that’s construction is second to none. We can’t recommend this team highly enough and are so appreciative of them.

I almost don't want to write this review, because as people continue to discover how good they are, they'll be harder to book. De Groot just finished my light kitchen renovation, and from start to finish, these guys were top-notch professional. They stayed within budget and guided my choices accordingly. And in terms of communication--the best I've ever had. These guys are quick to respond, and they even emailed a schedule/calendar of when various aspects of the job would be handled. Most important is their integrity, which came through in every way from start to finish. I've worked with numerous contractors over the years, and De Groot is by far the very best. They go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Five stars--I wish I could give them ten.

We used Adam and Derek to remodel almost our entire house over the course of six years (Kitchen and Family room, then full Basement and bath, then Master Bath and two other full bathrooms). They are worth every penny and more. These gentlemen are not only great at what they do (high quality work, great subs, responsive and never miss a deadline), they are are also some of the best people you will ever work with. My wife and I have the highest respect for Adam and Derek as craftsmen, businessmen and human beings. We can't recommend them highly enough.

It is always a time of anxiety when you decide to do any type of construction, remodeling or improvements to you home. You look for people who are professional, understanding, and, in our opinion, invested in your dream and vision of your project. My wife and I were very fortunate to find such people with De Groot Construction. Adam and Derrick helped us originally by designing and building a deck on the back of our house. The project was done beautifully and within the budget (which is always a positive!) We had such a good experience with De Groot, we decided to have them do a total redo of our kitchen, 1st floor floors, bathroom and bar area - We could not be happier with the way they worked with us and the quality of the finished product. We highly recommend De Groot Construction for any project you may have in mind.
