My husband and I were having a new countertop and sink installed so we needed a plumber to turn off the water to the old kitchen sink and turn on the water to our new kitchen sink. We chose V & L Plumbing to do the job because we wanted to establish a relationship with a local plumbing service and supporting a St. John business is important to us.
On 5.23.24 a plumber came out to our home to give us an estimate for the job. He said that V & L charges $130 an hour. They charged us $95 for this estimate and did not charge us an additional travel rate.
When the plumber returned to disconnect the water on 6.5.24 he charged us an additional $65 for travel. This additional charge was not disclosed to us when he was at our home giving us the estimate. But, we paid the extra $65 anyway.
The following morning I sent an email to V & L to share that my husband and I think that it is only fair that this additional, inflated travel charge be disclosed at the time of the estimate since it is apparently part of the price for the job. I also requested a phone call from the owner of V & L. We did receive an email from the service department, which wasn’t helpful as her reply completely missed the mark as she never addressed the lack of transparency with the travel charge. Days have passed now and the owner still has not called as the service department stated he would.
The plumber was scheduled to return to reconnect our water to the kitchen sink on 6.7.24. He did not show up. V & L did not call cancel so yes, they stood us up.
Needless to say we feel deceived and fooled. We will be sharing this review on social media sites and we have not decided whether we will file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Be cautious and consider this review prior to choosing a plumber. You might also want to consider asking if there are any undisclosed charges. Please know that this review is based on facts, our opinions and our feelings.

Jerry was great and very professional. V&L plumbing is awesome. The ladies in the office very nice and sweet. If I ever need anymore help with plumbing I am definitely calling you guys!! Plus the fact Jerry came out the day I called that is amazing!!

I’ve used V & L twice now for two different services and have been happy with the services provided both times. Today they really saved me when my sewer backed up and they made it out to my home within a couple of hours to resolve the issue. I sincerely appreciate their professionalism and efficiency.
