We had a contract with Bartlett which included spraying fruit trees twice in April they never performed. I called them around the first week in May when they should have done the third spraying and was told they did not have the staff. Thye never communicated with us, so I terminated the 2024 contract.

I'd like to do 2.5 stars.
Was disappointed with communication (or lack thereof). We were given day-of notice when they were coming out, and almost always were unable to be home to observe since we weren't given sufficient notice. I have no idea how long they spent working on our property each day. We were billed TWICE for work that was incomplete. We were told a permit would be acquired for work on a busy street in front of our house, but when it came time to perform the work, they just said traffic control was "handled." When I asked, they delayed the work until they supposedly acquired the permit, but to this day I don't know if that actually ever happened.

For the amount of time we had to wait for the work to be done (about 6 months from quote acceptance to completion of work), quality of work, and lack of communication, I would not recommend them or ever consider paying what we paid.

A note: pay attention to the limb size they quote for pruning. There are still numerous small limbs we can't remove on our own that weren't removed since they weren't big enough to fit the bill for what they quoted.

A big thanks to Rick Cater and his team: Raphael, Felix, Oscar, Brad, and Hillary! They just removed a 65 year old Pin Oak tree from our front yard. It was a big decision for us to take down this old majestic tree but it was time. Rick, reassured me that there was nothing they could do to save it. They all worked very hard to get the oak tree down safely. Great job and well done! There is a large void in our front yard, but we look forward to landscaping and planting a new young tree this upcoming Spring! If we ever need any other tree service done in the future rest assured we will have Bartlett Tree Experts do the job!

We had several trees/shrubs trimmed & pruned, and 3 trees removed on Sep. 28, 2020, and 3 stumps ground on Oct. 7. Tyler, our arborist, was very responsive, and knowledgeable. He was patient with us when we made some changes to the quotation. He was very responsive by email when we went over the changes. For future shrub/tree removal, one of our concerns was not knowing what to replace them with. Tyler provided a thorough list of trees/shrubs that could go into their place, that are more native to Indiana than what we had. Bob, the leader of the work crew, was very communicative about what was going on, and answered questions well. He was great with his work crew. He and all work crew were professional, and debris was cleaned very well. When stumps were ground later, we didn't even know they came, and the ground was free of debris. Highly recommended.

Overall a good experience! Last summer I had them over to my house to do a survey of the trees in my yard. Felt like an honest pitch, nothing was being pushed on me too hard.

Decided to come back this summer and have them do some work on a big tree in my front yard. They were fast, cleaned up everything, and were helpful with a couple of extra branches that storms had taken down. Would have them over again!

I hired Bartlett a few years ago to specifically save my oak tree. My tree now has only a few branches with leaves on it that are bright yellow, and most of the branches have brown leaves or no leaves at all. Apparently, it was too much work for them to save my tree. They told me it was going to die and I should just take it down and replace. That's not what I wanted to hear since I specifically hired them to save that tree. I am currently looking for another tree service anyone have any ideas.

I can not say enough good things about Bartlett. From start to finish, they were far superior to other companies we had out for estimates. Tyler was our arborist and he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We live in a fairly wooded lot and I was hoping to find someone we could trust with our tree concerns and we did with Bartlett and Tyler! They removed 2 trees and 3 overgrown bushes at very affordable rate and Tyler also gave us time estimate on our other trees. So happy with their service and have been recommending them to everyone!

Jonathan and Pablo were great to work with...I have 20 Arborvitae trees that were planted 2 months ago and looked like they were not doing well. Jonathan determined the trees were planted too deep and suggested a root collar excavation which Pablo did last week. They also fertilized all my palm trees. I intend to have them maintain all my trees going forward. I highly recommend Bartlett....

I normally trim my own trees because I'm really picky about such things. After visiting with the folks at Bartlett, I decided to give them a shot. I explained that I would be out there the whole time (I'm retired and do all of my own gardening and yardwork), and would expect the crew to honor what I asked for. Michael, the arborist I initially spoke with said that would not be a problem. I also felt Bartlett charged a fair price. (I got bids from two other companies, one national and the other local. Bartlett was the middle bid and closer to the lower bid than the higher bid.)

Bottom line: they did a great job and I endorse them without hesitation.

I'm extremely displeased with the customer service and the arborist. I signed the proposal June 3rd. Silence. Then Friday June 6th, Bartlett sent a safety crew to assess the removal. I happened to be home at that time by pure luck. The crew asked me to contact my neighbor to make sure it was okay to use their yard. I was then asked to let the arborist know what the outcome was. I don't expect your arborist to work the weekends, so I was going to let the arborist know on Monday.

I arrived home after work on Monday June 9th to a trashed yard, and a huge dumpster in the driveway. NO EMAIL, NO CALL. I was never notified when you were coming out, or even the progress of the project. If I wanted contactless service, I'd order from DoorDash.

Then I receive an invoice, with a proposal that's still in progress. I just don't understand why I can't get one simple phone call to schedule this out or let me know when a single part of the proposal has been completed? For $8,600, I think you guys could at least call and talk to the homeowner before setting up shop at their property. Maybe even call me and let me know when someone might be out to grind the stump?

The reason I called you guys back a second time to do work at my property was because when I worked with Tyler Hirschinger last time, his communication skills and professionalism were top notch. I know he doesn't work with you anymore, but I'm just asking for some simple and reasonable customer service. Just call, text, email, please.

EDIT 6/26/25: Received a voicemail from them explaining how their business was incapable of operating due to storms.

We've had a good experience with Bartlett multiple times. Most recently they trimmed our mature Sugar Maple. They have also done soil tests and treatment to help prevent future problems. Enjoy working with their local rep Sean.

Working with Bartlett for the past 4 years they are the best in tree care, knowledge, and professionalism in the area.

    UPDATE*
The owner of the company responded to my review leaving his name and #. I called him, left a vm & never received a call back. In addition, I just saw the company response has changed. The owners name & number has been removed.

Bartlett completely disrespected our property & our neighbors property.
I honestly don't know where to begin. They trimmed way to much on the trees & yet still left branches hanging over our roof, which was one of the specified goals.
They left a huge mess on the road & left for lunch, leaving a huge branch laying in my front garden smashing my flowers. One of the guys ate his lunch in my neighbors yard leaning against their house. They left a tote sitting in the front yard leaving a big dead area in the grass. They didn't clean up behind our cedar, I had to do it the following morning. Trampled through our front garden & actually pulled flowers out... I had to replant them. They literally dug up new grass we had planted in the Spring by dragging heavy limbs across the ground.I used this company in 2019 and they did a great job, what has happened??
BTW, when I sent a message with pics detailing the issues to their Arborist Daniel Richardt, his response was " it's unfortunate that we didn't meet your expectations".

We had a very large Siberian Elm tree in our backyard that needed to be removed. The tree was tightly situated in the middle of three major structures, utility wires, fencing, and decking. I was extremely concerned about having this tree removed in a safe manner, and I knew there was small group of professional arborist in the Indianapolis area that could competently perform this work. The removal required extensive roping/rigging and the drop zone was extremely tight. These houses are located in the historic neighborhood of Fletcher Place and the structures are extremely close to each other.

Sean Rock and his team at Bartlett Tree Experts did an amazing job in delicately removing this tree. The crew roped every piece of this tree down into our backyard, and down a very tight path to the alley for removal.

The team was extremely professional in their approach and execution. No harm was done to the structures, pathway, fencing, and utility lines. They also coordinated with IPL for removal of power lines across three days of work.

I am extremely satisfied with their work and would highly recommended them to anyone looking for tree removal.

    See attached photos.

    Thanks so much!

I have been waiting since June, now the end of September, for my tree stump removal. It took one month for Rick to call me back and admit that he is terrible about returning calls, scheduling services. How is someone like that still working at a well known company. I have repeatedly made calls, left messages for a manager to call back, for that request to go ignored. Two weeks ago, Rick told me he would send out utility to mark and then Bartlett would be out to remove stump. That still has not happened.

Then, I see that Bartlett has been at my neighbors house for days doing work. I will continue posting negative reviews until Bartlett addresses my tree. Oh, and of course they keep sending invoices.

DC Tree Services does great work! They were quick to come out to give a free estimate, reasonably priced, and scheduled within the same week to complete the service. Once they arrived, they completed the service quickly and we will use them for future services and recommend them to anyone else in the area!
