My house was built in 1890. The trees along my sidewalk were tall, beautiful maple trees and probably planted at the same time my house was built. The height of the trees provided plenty of cool shade. Sadly, it was time to let some go. I had six trees which needed professional advice. Four of which had obvious hollow spots which many of God's creatures called home. My neighbors had similar trees which were starting to fall during bad weather. It was just a matter of time before one of mine fell too... possibly in the middle of the night and on my house. It was time to call Travis at Mickem & Sons Tree Service. If my trees were going to fall, I wanted them to fall on my terms... not on my house.
Travis Mickem visited my yard and provided me with honest advice about the condition of my trees. Which ones could be kept, which ones should go, and how we might be able to salvage the rest. Upon consideration of his advice, I decided it was time to completely remove four of my six trees.
Travis respected the fact that I had a limited budget and he was willing to negotiate a final price in exchange for my ability to offer help with clean up, debris removal & a year of deer hunting privileges. Travis took the time to educate me on the process and explained what equipment would be needed. (My project required the use of his Bobcat, dump truck, lift truck and various cutting tools.)
His professionalism and willingness to negotiate a fair price won Travis the job. Travis arrived on time with a crew of four guys. It must have been the hottest day in July but the heat didn't hinder the process at all. Every member of the team worked well together and with obvious skill. I had asked for smaller trees and plants to remain unharmed. They were able to skillfully avoid damage to all surrounding obstacles. Throughout the process, every effort was made to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Furthermore, Travis kindly included me in the process... keeping me updated on the progress and expected completion time. Even with the unexpected heat and humidity, my four trees were removed in less time than had originally been planned for.
Upon completion of the job. Travis provided me with a well written itemized receipt for the work and explained any deviations from the original quote. I have been very satisfied with the work Mickem and Sons Tree Service gave me. They earned every penny. Upon comparison to other tree removal companies, Mickem & Sons was not only more affordable but one of the most honest and reliable you will find too.

We had several giant limbs fall on our home, deck, pier and boat causing substantial damage. They were able to squeeze us in their schedule the same day and did an awesome job. We highly recommend!!

This week Travis and his crew cut down 2 huge 75 year-old Elm trees in my back yard. They were close to the house, a new deck and a fence but they were careful to not damage any of them. His price quote was much lower than I was expecting, and together with my initial impression of him when we met, I decided to make an appointment without getting any other quotes. He arrived early every day and worked into the evenings, so that the job was done much sooner than I had expected. He gave me the opportunity to do some things myself, so that I could save money if I wanted to, and even saved back some the wood for me. Afterwards, he raked our yard completely, and cleaned up the neighbor's yard where some of the branches had fallen. I was impressed with his work ethic, his equipment and his professionalism. The whole experience went much easier than I had expected and I'm very happy

They were very professional! They did a TON of work in two days. Still do not know how they accomplished all of what they did! The extra bonus is they are very affordable! We definitely do not regret having them do work for us and would highly recommend them to anyone needing tree’s taken down.
