I've work with Country Landscapes on two different large commercial projects and they have been great to work with. They've done high quality work and have been dependable during the warranty period, which is crucial in landscaping. They are excellent planners and I would definitely recommend them.

I hired Country Landscapes for some very large projects over the past 2 summers, including redesign and new landscaping of a new driveway, a dry streambed, a new fountain, lighting, and a TON of removal of bad and overgrown previous landscaping.

Our designer, Zach, was fantastic, and came up with very creative solutions to some unique issues. And the guys who do the “heavy lifting” (Brad, I’m looking at you!) were terrific; hard working, careful, good listeners, and they were also very good problem solvers.

I also very much appreciated that they worked hand-in-hand with me on the items I wanted to build or include myself, such as some screening, gates, fencing, and limestone edging for the backyard. They were willing and able to help when advantageous (ex: drilling post holes), and to work with and around my portions of the projects.

I couldn’t be more pleased with the final product, and I would highly recommend Country Landscapes to friends and neighbors (and have already done so.)

I needed some hard-scape landscaping completed in an area where we removed a significant portion of decking. I had seen another hardscape application, so I already had a vision. I reached out to Country Landscapes as I had talked to representatives at the home and garden show previously. I worked with Kate for the design, and then Lucas and John for the install. This team works together to ensure that the customer has a good experience. Many times in my experience, no matter the vendor, different departments conduct their business in a silo, with little communication. But that is not the experience I had with Country Landscapes - they worked seamlessly together. I feel that this team understood my vision, and took it to the next level. They listened, and provided additional perspective to ensure the final outcome would meet my needs. We really love the results of our landscaping and the crew was great. From the first consult, we had a wonderful experience in their recommendations, proposal, and then the install. They followed up with advice on caring for it. It was definitely nice to work with company that took care of all the little details and were great to work with entire time from beginning to end. We would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for landscaping!

Staff were as interested as I was in the options for the initial plan and were willing to make adjustments based on my personal preferences. I loved that Zach really listened and was knowledgeable about the entire process. He wasn’t afraid to voice any concerns with me. The installers were also knowledgeable & respectful. When recently moved into a new home in Johnston, IA. While the inside of home was very bright and comfortable, there was very little landscaping in the front of our home which made the home look somewhat drab and uninviting. After hearing many positive comments from others about Country Landscapes we contacted them for some landscape ideas. Designer, Chris Ehrenberg visited our home and put together a landscape plan that changed the entire look of our home's front appearance. Instead of looking drab and uninviting, we now get complements from others about the front appearance of our home. Zach listened to what I wanted and did a beautiful plan. He was patient with my questions about the characteristics of various plants, and totally open to making tweaks. The install team was amazing. They worked quickly, respected my yard, and were some of the most skilled and professional landscapers I’ve seen. I was blown away by how quickly it was done, the quality of plants and materials and workmanship. They are my go-to landscapers now...wouldn’t use anyone else. Zach and the team were recommended to me by a friend - they did a stunning job with her hardscape as well.

We had an amazing experience beginning with Zach, our designer. He truly listened to what we were looking for in our landscape, and put together a breathtaking design. Zach played and active role throughout the process, but handed the reins to Rick and Morgan, the crew leads for our project. Their attention to detail was spectacular, and we welcomed their suggestions for slight nuances to the design as features went in. The quality of the plants and trees was fantastic, and they even got some special order dwarf conifers that we had asked for. I would strongly recommend using Country Landscapes for your next project! We’re looking forward to phase 2 of our project next year.

Two years ago we had an amazing experience with Country Landscapes and so when we decided to do a pool project in our backyard this Fall, we had no doubt reaching out to them again to help us with the design around it. Once again Zack, our designer, did a great job with the design and coordinating the execution. His input and also the time he took to answer our questions made us very happy and comfortable throughout the whole process. Together with an amazing crew, led by Curtis, but also other hard working people like Josh and Kaleb, who listened to our feedback etc, we couldn’t be happier with the end result. Highly recommend! We used Country Landscapes to replace our retaining wall along our driveway. From first contact to project completion, they were great to work with. Reliable, on time, quick responses, and best of all - fantastic results. We really enjoyed working with Zach. He even gave us some helpful, money-saving tips on other DIY projects. The crew worked so efficiently that the project was done and job site cleaned up in less than a week. But the fast pace didn’t take away from the high quality work - it appeared that the whole crew takes pride in their work. We will definitely use them again!

Country Landscapes just completed a project at our home. As usual they did a great job. We have used them to landscape our home and our office for the past 25 years and we have never been disappointed. They do a great job and stand behind their work. We contracted Country Landscapes to do a complete new design of our landscape and patio of our house in Johnston. Chris submitted an outstanding design incorporating a new block wall surrounding our enlarged patio. His design offered several new trees and shrubs that offered both privacy and beauty. The plantings have now been in the ground two years and are maturing beautifully. We had an open house picnic for my Dad’s 100th birthday and everyone remarked on our beautiful new landscaping.

I highly recommend Country Landscapes of Des Moines for both landscape design and for completing the landscape work. We had an excellent experience working with them.

Landscape design: We worked with Kate on the landscape design for our newly constructed home. She met with us at our home in the fall to find out about our overall vision and desires for the yard, what type of plants we liked or disliked, color scheme, and budget. She drew up the design and quote and then sent it to us for our feedback. We had a few follow up questions about some plants. Her answers informed our decision and we made a few changes. Kate made the necessary changes to the design and quote and then sent it to us for our approval. We were all set for May to arrive so that planting could begin.

Landscape installation: Lucas and John did a wonderful job executing the plan Kate designed. The lines and curves of the paver edging are well done. Lucas is a true craftsman when it comes to cutting and beveling the pavers to fit together perfectly. We were impressed by the great care they took to protect our lawn from the machinery that they brought in for the work. A neighbor even commented on how nice the lawn looked after they were done. Given that my husband and I have enjoyed doing the majority of our own landscape installs at our previous homes, it was hard to hand it over to someone else to do. Lucas and John were very understanding of our need to be involved.. They were very open to us placing and positioning plants (Kate came out and helped us with this too!) and answering any questions that we had.

To have a good experience too, 1) start your design process early, 2) give yourself time to really absorb the plan so that you can make any changes you need, and 3) communicate with the designer and landscape crew throughout the process.

Ben and the guys have been so good to us! They listen to our ideas and plans, tweak where necessary for the success of the project, arrive on time, do the work as agreed upon, and clean up in a way such that we scarcely know they were here! We have a steady dialogue with Ben about garden and tree care, and trust him and his team implicitly with our landscaping, both at our home in West Des Moines, as well as at our property in Boone. We are very happy customers!
