Landscaping reviews in Des Moines, Iowa

I gave 4 stars because all plants I purchase are healthy and live when planted. However, I think you should price yourselves on Lowes level. Houseplants are outrageous and they may not live. I was in to get a houseplant and left empty handed. Your help however is excellent.

Looks like it will be and awesome garden center. I was too early and they had nothing for seasonal 'scaping.
-
They have some gorgeous flowers but were more than I wanted to spend. So I went to Hyvee and got 4 for almost the same price as 1 hanging basket I looked at.

Stay away from this store. The manager has no idea what he is doing! He told a family member of mine when they bought sod from the story not only would they delver it but they would also lay it as well. When it got delivered the manager then said " I don't recall telling you I would lay it" ! This A Hole not only needs to pay for it but Should be Fired for Lying to the customer(s) what the company can and/or can not do! He was told if they can't lay the sod down they would take their business else where but No they(He) said they would! I will be contacting BBB because of this!

I didn't shop here but doordash brought my food to them instead of me. I called the garden center and told them I'm on my way. They were closing but said they would stay open for me to come and get my food. Really nice people! I would def give them my business.

I have always loved going to Earl May. They always have a good selection of what I am wanting to buy. Or, they know what I need to buy to make my plants grow.
This particular time, I was looking for a flocked Christmas tree but decided that I would try to do it myself this year. This should be fun. If not, they have a good selection of real and fake (if you are into that thing) tree. -
Was an ok experience, had lots of nice items. Some items were a little pricey for this gal; but not all! Was looking for something particular but couldn't find staff to help assist with what I needed bc they only gal there was checking people out. Other than that it wasn't too bad of a place.

We stopped in to buy some plants got our plants and waited at register for 20 plus minutes. No one around! Check backroom, bathrooms, outside, office's, break room. No 1 person in the building!!
We left along with 2 other customers without buying anything!! Pulled out of drive and 2 people standing by fork lift!! Won't be going back -
They have a good selection of garden and patio items. Service was very good.
Many things are priced a little too high.
But I'm sure that I will go back again. -
Me and my mom went there and we got some good plants there for my mom's Garden.

Great customer service. As soon as I walked through the door someone offered me help. One of the associates working took the time to explain multiple things to me. My plant was looking a little worrisome and I called the store and they were so kind and helpful. Gave me an email to send photos for further help. My plant is alive and looks beautiful now thanks to them. You don't find great customer service like this anymore.

Nice selection of planters and indoor plants.

I have been shopping at this Earl May for 15 years. I enjoy their selection and customer service. I am willing to spend a little more to get expert help. Recently the management changed. The manager is clueless and absent. He hired young people with no expertise or training and drove off my favorite expert who went out of her way repeatedly to help. If this doesn't change soon I'm done with this location. I've heard good things about Ankeny.

Love my Earl May store! I can go to this store and they always can answer my questions. They always have what is needed to give your garden the little something to make it stand out. You won't be disappointed

Went after bags of compost and a bag of worm casting. They had what I needed. Staff was friendly and helpful. If I'm not mistaken, they honor a military discount for veterans, and active duty.

I am always happy to go to Earl May, they have such polite workers and their plants and flowers are beautiful always. So many different pots and decor. I definitely will be back there are so many things I want to buy . You should check them out whenever you have a chance.

Very helpful staff, great shopping experience. He listened to our attempt at describing some jellyfish hanging Babylonian garden's version of a plant. I'm still confused yet with in just a couple of seconds he was able to figure out what we were looking for, or at least the closet kinds of hanging air plants they had in stock. Thanks again two thumbs up to the Earl May Gardens team!!

This used to be a good store when I was younger. I went in here on Mother’s Day 2024. I was worried it’d be busy but it wasn’t. Everything was really expensive here which I figured. Usually stores overcome this hurdle with good service. There was none of that. Nobody would help and I walked around all the plants 3 times. I asked someone for help but they didn’t know anything. I thought buying plants online seemed weird, but maybe that’s how everything is just done nowadays. Would be me absolute last option for plants from now on.

We went here for a Christmas tree. The selection here is always good, though the trees are expensive compared to many other local stores that sell precut trees.
The staff is helpful but not pushy. They assist in getting and packing up the tree, and even put it in the vehicle if you ask. -
We needed a few items for the yard, Earl May had them all and in several varieties. Yeah Baby!
We again walked through Earl May and found a real cool American flag star, looks great on my small barn! See picture. -
I called around town for a special order. South side Earl May was the only place willing to help me. Top notch effort & customer service
