Appliance Repair reviews in Lenexa, Kansas

I'll start by saying I'm not a big fan of signing in to talk to a salesperson. It worked well not signing in when we were just browsing. No one bothered us at all. The downside to that was no one was there to answer our questions. We made another trip when we were ready to buy and when we signed in we were helped by Anne. What we saw on our first trip and decided on was all sold à la carte so to speak. Anne told us how all of it worked and what we needed to do what we wanted. I don't understand all the bad reviews saying they aren't sold all the parts they need. Everything we said we wanted we were told exactly what we need to make it work. So everything being sold seperate,it all came in seperate shipments. The first was the valve body for the shower, very heavy, very beefy. High end stuff here. Had a small issue with one part and left Anne a vm after hours. Within ten minutes I got an email saying a new piece was on the way. For the price of this setup I'd almost like to find something to complain about, but right now I just can't. This will outlast me and I'm sure the next homeowner unless they just want something different. I'll try to post pictures when I get it done. Thanks again Anne!!

I was in the market for a new wall-mount oven. My husband and I went to their showroom in Lee's Summit and talked to one of their salespeople. They did not have on display what we needed to replace our current oven. The salesperson was helpful and pulled up online an oven that would have probably worked--to the tune of over $2300. Next was to have their person come to our house to pre-measure. They wanted me to pay the entire amount before the pre-measure was scheduled--which I refused since I wasn't going to pay for something if it wouldn't fit properly. Also, the oven I wanted was out-of-stock with Whirlpool and nobody had any idea of when one could expect delivery. If the measurements all worked out, I agreed to pay half upfront to get it ordered. Their associate showed up for the pre-measure on a Friday afternoon and after running some compilations, said he would have to get back with us that following Monday. We said that would be fine. That was the last I heard from anybody at Ferguson--neither from that guy or from the salesperson who originally emailed me a formal quote. Not even a courteous follow-up on the project. That's been over a week ago. I guess they don't need our business--I was wanting to buy local--but their customer service is terrible. I'm done with them and since I never heard back from them, went to NFM, spoke with the most knowledgeable salesman, found the perfect oven, and saved probably @ $800 in total. Delivery is already scheduled. The ratings on Yelp for this business were somewhat to be desired but I thought I'd give them the benefit of doubt. Now I know why and I'm adding my own one-star rating.

I called for service on my Hobart mixer (clean and well cared for older model)
The technician showed up and was there for 50 minutes trying to pry a metal plate off using screwdrivers. I said how much are you charging an hour “$175 an hour” and you’ve been here 50 minutes and you haven’t even looked at it. “Yep.” I’m having a hard time getting the plate off.
I said, “how much longer do you think it’ll take?” He said well it won’t be fixed today because I don’t have the parts.
I said well, let’s just call it a day and you can go on and I’ll figure out something else out.
In other words, he did absolutely nothing except waste my time and I was billed $375. What a scam! -
Great service!!! Always fair on pricing. Have used this company for both home and business service. Always great!
-
We had them come out and fix our refrigerator this morning and the gentleman Greg was so nice and did the job in good time. I would highly recommend them
-
I thought I would need a new refrigerator, but they fixed it for very little cost. They are so honest... I will use them for my heating and cooling from now on, too!
-
Last visit with Kirt was very disappointing. After years if using Abbey, we changed services.
-
Called on Friday to set an appointment for Monday. They showed up, very Informative about the issue they found and the cost. Replaced the part, confirmed the repair work, cleaned up after themselves and were very efficient.

I waited all day for their visit, they fixed my water flow from refrigerator but wanted to sell me a new ice maker for 840.00 which I said I rather buy a new one, and I did, but then, my ice maker started working again so I had to cancel my purchase. They only wanted me to spend in a new ice maker or didn’t know about refrigerators, or I was just lucky it started working? Whatever it is I would not use their services again.

I was completely impressed with the kindness and honesty with Abbey. I greatly appreciate their work ethic. Kurt was easy to speak to and was beyond courteous and priced fairly. We will definitley be calling again when needed.
-
Fast and professional service on my dryer.
I would like to have a detailed itemized invoice, the company does not take American Express credit card which is also disappointing and some conflicting communication between the booking and the invoice.
I will use again. -
Kurt at Abbey Heating & Cooling is THE go-to guy for all your appliance needs! He has been helping us with out-of-warranty issues on our refrigerator, washer/dryer (Bosch is terrible, BTW), microwave oven, dishwasher, and HVAC for over a decade. We have a basic service contract with a big-name HVAC company here in Kansas City (for 23 years) yet they aren't nearly as efficient as Abbey Heating & Cooling. It looks like we will be having Kurt and his team put in a new system very soon!

Came home from work to find our house a toasty 90 degrees. The air conditioner was making a terrible noise and was unable to kick on. I called Kurt. He answered the phone after hours and walked me through some things to try to troubleshoot the problem. He immediately suspected the blower motor was the issue. He was at the house at 8:15 a.m, the next morning with a new blower motor and capacitor. He got those two parts swapped out and got our AC up and running in less than hour. We've used Kurt to repair our refrigerator and our washing machine in the past. He is always on time, gets the diagnosis right the first time, has the parts on the truck, gets it fixed correctly, and is extremely fair on price. Definitely our go to guy for all HVAC and appliance repair. Would highly recommend.

Called this (Abbey Heating and Cooling in Kansas City) company for a washing machine repair.
Their service call advertised as $49.00
Owner Kurt come and diagnose the problem, told he had the part for pump in his truck for $20.
Did the repair and gave a bill of $207.04 for a repair.
Pump is $25.00 at Sears store (charge $171.00) 3" hose is $6.00 (he used a used hose from his truck, not even an original hose and charged $20, almost 350% more compared to original new hose).
TOTAL service time in and out 30 Minutes.
Charge $207.04 DOES NOT equal 30 minutes + $25 pump + $6 hose.
OVERCHARGED, EXCESSIVE CHARGE. Not a professional service.
Ripping off customers does not help your business. Just because people trust you when you walk in does not mean they will not tell the others when they are cheated.
Will not use again. WILL NOT recommend. -
I am so happy I called this place! They were able to send someone out same day to fix my washer. Kurt was so nice and he even took the time to explain to me some issues to look for and suggestions for the next time I need to buy a washer. If ever needed I will definitely be using this place again!

Our second experience, dishwasher repair, was as prompt and well done as the first, refrigerator repair. Kurt, our serviceman, was well informed, efficient and courteous. Everything was handled promptly the same day at a reasonable cost. I would recommend them highly.

My ice maker stopped working a week ago. After trying a few of the DYI things, it was time to call Kurt. I have used him for over five years now on everything from AC, humidifier, dryer, and now ice maker. He always fully explains my options and willing to talk me through the mechanics (not all repair men will do that for the women of the house). I found Kurt after I had had several bad experiences with repair guys. Now I recommend him and several of my friends use him as well.
