Buyer Beware: EJQ Landscaping and Lawn Care LLC
I hired EJQ back in March of 2018 to install a flagstone patio in my backyard (I purchased flagstone and Gator Dust), set 14 fence posts (holes were pre-dug for 13) and to prepare/install an area of artificial turf. I was told their lead worker has 21 year experience in the landscaping business.

    • Flagstone Patio – Before EJQ started the work, I agreed with the salesperson that landscaping cloth would be laid down followed by a 4” base of AB3 (which is standard practice for patios) followed by sand for leveling. For the AB3, EJQ poured small gravel over topsoil and hand tamped it. In spots, there is up to 4” of sand, not AB3 under the flagstones. I had purchase some electrical conduit and had them bury it under the flagstones. They put the flagstone over one end of the conduit, close to my house where the electrical wiring was going to be run. They also did not dig one hole for my fence post. I went to Home Depot, had to purchase more electrical conduit and a fence post support for approximately $30. On top of that they wasted 4 bags of Gator Dust that was never installed properly.
    • Fence Posts- Keep in mind, 13 0f 14 fence post holes were dug and I had purchased the fence posts. EJQ paid for the bags of concrete and of course labor. Prior to coming home from work, I reminded EJQ to ensure the fence posts were leveled and braced. When I got my quote, I asked if they had experience in installing fence posts and was assured they did. I stopped the one EJQ individual from working on the fence posts. I asked if he had bracing for the fence posts and he said no. I went to Home Depot, got some 1”x4”s and some stakes. I came back and gave them to the individual. I then noticed EJQ starting to set my fence posts and leveling them by eye. Then he put the 1”x4”s on top of the posts for bracing. At that point, I took his 2’ level and showed him to put it on the fence post. Then I had to show him how to properly level and brace the posts.
    • Artificial Turf – I had to keep reminding the EJQ individual that the artificial turf required I agreed with the salesperson that landscaping cloth would be laid down followed by a 4” base of AB3 (which is standard practice for artificial turf). By this time, my project took a turn a turn for the worst.
I took the EJQ rep to the side and let him know I was not happy. I explained how I had to show them how to set fence posts. I went on to say I was not happy with the fact they installed the patio flagstones over a fence post area and conduit. I then tried to renegotiate the job with them. They wound up getting annoyed walking off the job and threatening to call their lawyer. As they left the job, they walked off with a set of my wrenches, lawnmower that I was going to sell them and multiple bags of Gator Dust. In addition, they did not finish the patio and left a bunch of trash and debris behind. They were paid a sum of $1300 and did a HORRIBLE job. I had Keller Landscaping come out to give me a quote to reset patio and install artificial turf. The Keller Landscaping representative noted that there was no AB3 under the flagstone and it needed to be reset. I have since had Keller Landscaping reset the patio per the Institute of Paving Technology standards and they did an outstanding job. Save your self a lot of aggravation and hire a professional landscaping company. Ask for references and addresses where you can see the work and validate with the homeowner(s) the job was well done in addition to a legitimate contract in place.

I had to give one star in order to post this.

    We had a horrible experience with this group. We had a small patio project in our backyard. It was explained to us as a two day job, we accepted the estimate provided. That is when everything went downhill. Here is the time line of events that occurred;

    1. Made an appointment for a Monday at 9am. Monday comes and goes without any one showing up or any communication until that evening

    2. It was explained that they were backed up because of the Thanksgiving holiday and would be able to come on Wednesday morning to start the job. We accepted, understand that holidays are hectic and it can happen to anyone!

    3. Wednesday morning….no show… did get texts though. They finally show up late that afternoon. They “completed” the demolition and hauled away some (not all) of the broken concrete. They explained they would be back the very next day to finish up the job. We agreed to pay ½ of the estimate (based on the horrible communication we experienced so far) and pay the second half once everything was done.
    - They left our outdoor hose on and running when they left. We didn’t see that until the next morning. Water had been running ALL NIGHT and there was a lake of water in the yard.

    4. That was the last we heard from anyone…not a word… Completely left us high and dry and with a badly done ½ of a project on our hands.

We have since hired an actual professional to finish the job. They explained that the demolition work that was done was not worth the money we paid for it. Extremely disappointed to have been treated this way, especially over the holidays in this already challenging year.

We learned a very expensive lesson, we hope or experience helps someone else.

    Buyer Beware

Hired EJQ to complete a small backyard stamped and colored concrete patio. Had several issues:

    1. Quoted couple day project took more than a couple of weeks to complete.

    2. The concrete stamps that were laid down weren't aligned. Instead of correcting the issue while the concrete was wet, appeared a worker took their finger and tried to "align" the two joints. Picture attached.

    3. Concrete splattered on our adjacent wood screened in porch. Workers didn't clean it off while wet and it dried on the stained wood.

    4. Part of our concrete patio was rough (right side of attached picture) and part of it was correctly poured and finished (left side of seam in the attached picture). Very uneven quality.

    5. When I tried to get Edyson back out for warranty work to at least fix item #4 above with additional sealant, he continually delayed. After 6 months of delays and more than several dates of him "committing" to perform the work, he stopped responding to me.

Will never hire this gentleman again for any work. Unprofessional, lacks communication, and quality is subpar.

Edyson was quick to respond when asked for a quote. I trusted his work from reviews on NextDoor. Edyson told us tearing out and replacing 2 concrete steps would take 2 days. It turned into 9 days - with Edyson &/or crew not showing up when promised many times. Lots of waiting and being strung along. Scarring to the front porch from the jackhammer, damage to the sidewalk from tossing broken concrete into a pile. Our handrail was damaged and we had to replace at our cost. First set of steps laid were very much out of code (and poured with settled cement). EJQ had to tear them out. Our landscaping has many, many, many small broken pieces of concrete embedded from workers stomping around in a heavy rain, attempting to finish the first set of steps.
Second set would have been laid wrong, if I hadn't noticed the forms they prepared were not what was previously there. I had to show the workers a picture. The second step was in code, but shoddy workmanship left sloppy looking steps.
I paid Edyson half of the contracted price up front, with the second half due "when everything is done". Our landscaping has many, many small broken pieces of concrete embedded from workers stomping around in a heavy rain, attempting to finish the first set of steps. Edyson asked for an advance of the second half two times before the job was completed. I complied and paid him. Obviously a cash flow problem.
Power washing and sealing the stamped concrete patio was to be completed in 2 days, one day after the other. That job was strung out to 9 as well. Many broken promises during that time. Lots of excuses & Edyson disappearing for hours, when he would "run to Lowe's " or other such "short" errands. We now have dried masking tape on our wooden steps of the length of time it stayed there.
I would not recommend EJQ Landscape.

Got a good price for cutting down a termite-infested tree and trimming back a couple of large branches overhanging our roof. The cut wood was supposed to be in a pile in the back of our fencing behind the pool but for some reason, they put it on the other end of the yard where I was starting to work on seeding new grass, so now I have to cut down the really big pieces so I can move them to where I originally needed them.

Busted one of my concrete planters next to my fence, then turned the planter around so the busted part was against the fence so it wasn't readily visible. Also, one of the workers parked their old truck in my driveway and leaked huge spots of oil all over my driveway (that just got poured last year).
When I pointed it out, Carlos said he had tried to use something to take it off but it didn't work, but he promised he was going to go get something that would remove the oil. Guess who never came back to fix it.

Just goes to show you, you get what you pay for. A good price doesn't make up for an indifferent and careless attitude toward your property while they are there.

My neighbor hired this company to trim the trees in their back yard. Apparently they thought they had free reign to use my property however they saw fit in order to get their work done, and didn't care about any damage they caused.
If they had asked to use my property, I would have told them that would be fine if they cleaned up after themselves, but they didn't ask, and they didn't clean anything. By reading other reviews, they don't have any respect of the property that they were hired to work on either. I had to power wash my driveway to get the dirt and mud off, and will have to add soil and grade it beside my house for proper drainage.
Not only should you not hire them, but don't let your neighbors hire them either.

Had a tree fall in one of our rental homes and this company was out same day to assess and within 1 business day of my company approving the estimate , to remove the tree. Excellent work! Definitely would use again and recommend.

I used Heartland Stump Removal today to grind a stump that was in the front yard of the house my wife and I bought 6 months ago. I was very impressed with the careful and meticulous work, the results and the reasonable price. I would highly recommend Heartland to anyone needing to have a tree stump removed.

Fantastic service! 10 out of 10. I needed a tree stump removed. Matt was able to come out 1 week after I contacted him. He grinded the whole stump in about 30 minutes. He also gave advice on how to get the spot filled in with grass. Very professional, competitive prices, I highly recommend

Matt with Heartland Stump Removal was an absolute pleasure to work with. Communication was excellent, rates were fair and reasonable, and the work quality was excellent. We had 12 large stumps removed by Matt today in the matter of a few hours and the result was tidy and clean mulch piles and happy homeowners. Can’t thank Heartland Stump Removal enough for a job well done!!

We had a tall sick 22 year old pine tree that needed to be taken down so that it wouldn’t affect the others around it. Matt was very responsive on the phone, gave us an estimate promptly, had the utilities marked and fit us in quickly. I asked for the mulch to be left behind. The area was left clean after he took off. Highly recommend!

Matt was responsive almost immediately when I requested a quote. He was great to ask for more pictures and explain exactly what he needed to accurately quote me. He was fast in grinding the stump and gave insight to what I could do regarding planting another tree. I appreciated being notified. of any delay related to rain and the accuracy in arrival time as well. , Matt a great job. Thank you

I can’t say enough about Heartland Stump Removal. The ground is level and the stump gone! It was an iceberg for sure. Probably a 5 foot diameter root stump.
Matt was incredibly professional and fast as well as reasonable in price and time to book! My little one loved watching the digger and now has a bigger yard for him and his siblings to play in!

Patagonia removed a large tree for me and ground/removed the stump. Very professional and friendly. One of very few tree services that had a reasonable price. Did everything safely, and did an excellent job in cleanup. I'm now going to have them do tree pruning for me. Make sure you ask for Simon.

So pleased using this company. Very professional and polite. They checked with the neighbor before going into their yard tower on my tree. They were very tidy, timely and affordable. I would recommend them over and over again.

We used Simon and Patagonia Tree Service for general trimming and shaping of our approximately 15 trees, removal of 2 trees (1 quite large), and stump-grinding of 3 trees. We couldn't be happier from the choice we made. They did great work at a very competitive price, and were safe and professional in the process. Simon also gave great recommendations and was very easy to talk with. We will definitely be using them in the future. Thank you Simon and crew!

Outstanding job by Patagonia Tree! The team was professional, courteous, and transparent in pricing and work performed. Did some major trimming, tree removal, and cabling on several parts of my property and we couldn’t be happier. Would definitely recommend them to friends and family looking for tree services!

Simon and the team did a fantastic job trimming 10 of my trees and cutting down another one that was leaning towards my house. Their work was very clean and they cleaned up all the lawn before leaving. They also took very good care when trimming the trees tying up every branch with a rope so that not a single one fell on the house. The price was very good also. I'd definitely recommend their services to anybody needing tree work done.

I had a great experience with the company! From the first day of receiving a quote to the actual day of service, Simon was informative, helpful and explained in detail what was needed to remove several long and large limbs and care for the extremely large cottonwood tree in my yard.

On the day of service, Simon and team took care to remove the limbs properly and clean up all the yard debris. The team was fast, efficient, friendly and professional. The quote was also reasonable and i was please with the service and price. Thank you Simon and team!
