About the business:

Howard H. Nearing began an individual practice after having worked with the venerable Edward Tanner, Architect. Mr. Nearing excelled in design of luxury custom homes and his designs soon became noteworthy classics in the community.

Partnering with Stan Staats in 1963, the firm Nearing & Staats expanded into larger scale projects including multi-family and small commercial projects. The firm excelled in these areas and their exceptional work was revered by all.

William H. Prelogar & Richard E. Jones joined as partners in 1988 and the firm became Nearing, Staats, Prelogar & Jones Architects-Chartered. The firm continued to expand their outstanding design abilities in all areas of residential & commercial design.

Over the years, the firm has also added interior (1999), retail (2005), landscape & landplanning (2007) as well as LEED-AP and green building (2006) design divisions, and now offers full-services and unparalleled design in all design fields.
