First Due Services has done my routine lawn maintenance as well as spring and fall cleanup for a few years now. I never have to worry about whether or not the work is going to be done to my satisfaction. They are professional, timely and anticipate any additional needs I may have. Their prices are reasonable and the stress and frustration they save me is immense. I highly recommend them.

Hired Adam to do lawncare and landscaping for multiple rental properties. The first season he did great work. No complaints at all. Second season he never took care of the landscaping so the plants never got cut back and unfortunately many died due to this. Even though we gave plenty of notice and asked multiple times for this service, which he acknowledged. This cost us quite a bit of money. Additionally, during the recurring visits, weeds were not attended to, resulting in overgrowth and looking disastrous. It should be noted, this service did appear on invoices even though it wasn’t completed.

To sum it up, the first year when he was getting started, he did a fantastic job and I had zero complaints. Once he began building a book of business, the service declined to the point of items I was being invoiced for were not being completed and costing us a lot of money to repair the damage he had caused.

We called FDS because they were in our neighborhood. Adam came by promptly to meet with us a make an estimate for the work we needed done. This past winter and it’s wind and rain storm had done more to our property then we could handle. We also had several yard items that were no longer needed. His estimate was more than fair so we asked him to do the work. Adam is a professional at what he does and we were impressed with the quality and thoroughness of his work. We highly recommend First Due Services. Roger and Paula.

This gentleman has helped me get out of my driveway multiple times and is always fair. He has dropped what he is doing to help me and can't get better service around here thank you again for helping us .

We asked Andrew to consult for us on updates to our yard. He provided very good advice related to drainage paths and potential solutions. He was very knowledgeable about trees around our property and was wonderful for identifying and explaining how to manage various plants around our property. We loved that he was interested in using various native plants in specific locations (sun, shade, near pine trees, etc) that would look good with little maintenance. He was professional and patient, a pleasure to talk to, and was always on time. He followed up with us by email to answer additional questions that came up. We were very happy with his services.

I don’t know anything about gravel and I had called a few other places others had told me to check out , well all acted as tho I was dumb for not knowing what I needed for gravel . The lady I spoke with from here was so helpful and talked me through the whole thing ! The man who delivered it was so nice to talk with and he did a great job tailgating it for me , instead leaving in a big pile witch I thought I’d have to deal with . I didn’t have enough so he drove back and go me more right away so kind of him ! I’d give you 100 stars if it let me ! I’ll definitely be using them for future stuff ! Thanks so much all my grams drive way looks great !

I stopped by to find out the best way to approach our walkway project, assuming I could get a personal connection. Three people in the office -- no one stood to greet me. (Basic professional courtesy.) I asked about walkway materials and the woman pushed a binder towards me. I asked if I could see the products and she told me I could look in their yard. Left my name, email, phone. No one has contacted me. Very unprofessional. This is not how you conduct business. I live on Verona but will be taking my business elsewhere.

I bought a yard of loam last month and while we were unloading it, we were finding a lot of different colored glass, large rocks and tree roots. Over a 5gal. bucket full. Yesterday, we went to spread grass seed and when ruffing up the soil we are still finding more pieces of glass (photo). We have dogs and and my wife is barefoot a lot. I called Hardscrabble, and the next day a lady called me back to tell me she didn’t find any evidence of glass in the dirt, then said; So, what is it you want?! I took it as, she felt I was lying and wanted something for nothing. I excepted nothing, I wanted nothing. I told her I wanted her to know what we found in her dirt so they didn’t use it for a lawn somewhere. She didn’t seam like she cared.

We hired Mike and son to do the initial site work on our lot which included a gravel driveway, house site clearing and septic system installation. Mike is very responsive and professional, clear about the costs, does what he says and shows up! The job was completed quickly and we are very pleased with the results. I would definitely use this company again.

Mike, Lisa and their son went above and beyond all throughout our patio project. Everything they said they would do, they did!!! Even on the hottest day of the year, the guys worked their hearts out in the sun and heat laying almost 8,000 pounds of stone and fireplace blocks. The work was professionally done, completed on time and is a wonderful addition to our backyard. The guys were not able to complete the project on Saturday, so they came on Sunday morning and finished up. How often do you get treatment like that from a business owner? Not often or possibly never! I would recommend this company for any of your stone work or landscaping upgrades. Great people to work with that I will go to first when my next project comes around.

Mikes crew did a fantastic job rebuilding an old stone wall, steps and walkway. It is a work of art!

I originally called for a simple stone/gravel delivery to fill in some low spots in our driveway. We ordered 16 yards for a total of $425. We recieved maybe 10 yards (I plan to go out tomorrow to measure to get a more exact number to report but have been super busy).

For those of you who don’t know how much a yard is…it is equivalent to a 3’ x 3’ x 3’ cube. We have voiced our complaints to the business to allow them to correct the problem but we received nothing but deflections and finger pointing. If a company is willing to shaft you on a couple yards of dirt, they will do worse on larger jobs and I am just thankful we did not contract them for any of the larger jobs we have planned for the future. Buyers beware.

Mike and his crew built 2 retaining walls for me and lined the whole driveway with the wall
at my place in Orland and it’s beautiful.

They also cleared a site for our garage and finished the ditches with rip rap and it couldn’t have been done any better.

They also built a patio with a sitting wall with built in lights and redid our walkway and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Finally, they also did our septic and leachfield a few years back and they did a great job!

I should have done a review for each one of these projects and I would have given them 5 stars every time. I highly recommend Hardscrabble and wish I had more pics!
