They built my house and utilize them for multiple clients, by far best construction company in NOLA for foundation/shoring (which they are known for) and everything else from residential to commercial they give fair market quotes and deliver exceptional work.

Charging for an estimate makes perfect sense to me, you want serious inquires from serious customers.

On that note, I'd like serious quotes from serious inspectors...

When you pay their fee but the inspector spends only a few minutes assessing the problem, makes no notes, takes no measurements, then the quote comes back pretty VAGUE on the scope of the project and 2.5 TIMES higher than other quotes from other BBB accredited companies...sure seems like a nice way to skim a couple hundred off someone.

I didn't expect the lowest quote in town, just a serious one that I could consider, not laugh at and feel ripped off.

They were awesome! everything was explained to us what was going to be done and why. The team and owners were very professional. We live in Port Allen but that did not stop them from traveling here and doing a wonderful job. Will recommend to anyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you-

Not Professional - Called to get a quote. Receptionist stated that she would have to call right back. Understood. I didn't receive call back, so I called back at the end of the day. We scheduled an appointment for 7/18, at 1 PM. Company reached out less than 24 hours, via text, to change appointment to 2 PM. Understood. An inspector shows up 20 minutes late. Poor Communiation. Out of quotes I received, this was the only inspector that did not have a water level on him. Maybe this isn't important and he has a great perception for "level." Lets give him the benefit of the doubt. I was told that I would have a quote by 7/21. No quote received as they didn't even ask me for my email address. I called on 7/21 at the end of the day and the receptionist said she would call right back with update regarding my quote. No call back. I just called this afternoon, and the receptionist said she passed along my information. I will for sure get this slab and house rebuilt. Professionalism and quality of work are more important to us than price, but will not work with this company. Sad because we lived by Audubon Park and would drive down river road and see their building many times. We even met the owners years ago and they were very kind. 1 star review though for their business.

After the owner replied to my review with a threat I'm now happy I did not go with this company. If my insurance was going to pay for the job. I'm more likely to go with the contractor. From my experience with other contractors they do not give proper estimates that the insurance companies can take and thus would be wasting my money. After seeing your other reviews you too seem to be lazy with your estimates...

From start to finish, this is a great company! They were professional, patient when explaining what needed to be done and gave me a reasonable quote. The crew was fantastic, friendly and very respectful of my property and time. Richard Earl's came highly recommended to me and now I will highly recommend them with this review.

Fast, good quality work.
Sagging front porch overhang on 125 year old house was sagging due to two missing columns. Jacked it up, placed two excellent reclaimed columns and did a decent trim and paint-job.

I was really pleased with Phillipa, her crew, and the whole experience. Project cost was fair, work was done quickly and thoroughly, when an unforeseen issue popped up the crew worked with me on a low-cost intervention. I'd recommend them and plan to use them again!

I hired them. If I could go back in time I would chose a different company.

The work quality was bad. I still get upset when I look at what they did. I paid before checking their work, which was a mistake. Lots of important pieces of my house were left unconnected.

I hired them to repair termite damage. They used pressure treated lumber. I'm not convinced that this contractor knows what galvanic corrosion is. Basically the chemicals in the lumber will destroy the nails over time. It can be ok if you use stainless steel nails, which these nails aren't. As the homeowner, I expect them to know these things when I hire them. I pay them because I don't have time to teach myself construction. So when they don't know construction either, it feels like I've wasted my money.

While they were working, I realized there was another repair I wanted them to make. I wanted them to replace one of the rafters. They agreed to do it. Except they didn't replace it. They attached a second board onto the side. That's not 'replacing' it's 'sistering'. If I wanted a board sistered on I would have done it myself for $20 instead of the $700 I paid them. When I told them that this was wrong, they didn't fix it or refund me. I still need to hire someone to deal with this.

This next complaint is my weakest because I can't prove it. I suspect that one of the workers took materials from my house. At the end of the job she told me, "we're great at stealing stuff" which is the last thing I want to hear. Specifically I think she took some of my floor boards. They're heart pine so they're valuable and difficult to replace. I expected them to be pulled up and potentially damaged, but I didn't expect them to be taken. She gave herself plausible deniability by asking if she should throw out other lumber. She asked about multiple other materials but never the floor boards. I never expected that this would happen. It's possible that they just did a bad job communicating but it's also possible this one worker doubled her pay by reselling my valuable material. The fact that she asked about so many other materials except this one, is really what makes me suspicious.

In summary, hire someone else. On my job, the work quality was very bad. I had to fix a lot of their mistakes, and loose ends. Hiring them caused as many problems as it solved. One of their workers may have taken my floor boards. When problems with the work emerged, the manager made no effort to resolve them. Overall I'm bitter about the experience.

General notes for people hiring a contractor:
-Don't assume the contractor knows what they're doing. Contractors are paid to manage labor, not to understand construction.
-Midway through they found more damage in the walls. This must be common. If you hire a contractor talk to them in advance about what will happen if more damage is found.
-Ask what they'll do if the repairs aren't good enough.
-Don't pay until you've checked their work.

Phillipa gave me an estimate on redoing my front stairs. The rail was one long piece on each side and she said we need to put in a middle support to strengthen the rail. They redid the front rails and put in the middle support. She was right! They are stronger and look great. Love their work and would definitely hire them again.

Regarding the recent work I had done on my property …
The work was completed on time. It was expertly and professionally executed. And cleanup was done to my satisfaction.
All of the workers respected me and my property. The inspection was timely and thorough.

Had Abry Bros. come look at some settlement concerns and he talked through the issues in a real friendly clear way and actually recommended I use gutter and carpenters rather than their foundation service to stop the problem. If I have future issues with foundation I will absolutely give them a call.

Abry Bros, and their associates are without comparison in their field in the New Orleans and Metairie, La. area. Their caring professionalism and integrity are comforting during what is an extremely stressful experience.

They take the time to explain in laymen terms what is going on with the foundation and pilings. They make every effort to calm any panicky feelings and guide you to a rational understanding of your options.

My respect and appreciation of Abry Bros is also echoed by my neighbors. My family's experience with them goes back to the 1920s.

It's refreshing to have someone come out and tell you the truth. Not knowing much about foundations and raised houses, I could have been taken for thousands.
