We hired Groundshog Landscaping to install a stone patio and drainage system in our yard, clean up the yard, and do some tree work.

The Groundshog team exceeded our expectations. Thanks to Carlos, the stonework on the patio is a work of art. Carlos also led a team of positive, tireless landscapers who went beyond what we asked them to do. We are confident the drainage system can handle Baltimore weather.

Our yard has never looked so good. David was great at keeping in touch with us and providing advice about what would make us happy at the project's completion. Thank you!

When our parish, Saint Katherine Drexel of Frederick was designing a Memorial Garden to honor those currently buried in the historical cemetery and allow above ground cremations in 5 Columbarium, Groundshog Landscaping provided cost effective solutions to help the parish meet a tight budget. Elements of the design included a curved masonry wall with mounted headstones from the original cemetery, a stormwater detention pond, mass concrete foundations for the Columbarium, an elaborate cut paver Labyrinth, asphalt paving, landscaping, sod and reseeding all disturbed areas. Joe Coates was on site for most of the project ensuring the design was implemented.

Great company to work with. I had them weed, trim and mulch all my beds. Dave came out and walked my property with me to see what I wanted done. I got my estimate and they began the next week. They spent about six hours which was longer than I thought they’d be here. That showed me that they really cared about their workmanship. Carlos, was also great to work with. Great Job. Jeff

Communication was awesome. They were punctual, the men that were here were awesome and so nice. Cleaned up the work area when they were done. Ask for my input several times as the work was progressing. Would definitely use them again and recommend them to any of my friends!

Groundshog did an A1 job on my new sidewalk leading to the front door. They eliminated all the steps, so my wife’s wheelchair can roll right in the door. They buried my downspouts and a sump discharge, and took them downhill to the yard. The one thing they could improve on is informing me in advance, in more detail, the type of plantings I would end up with. In the end, I was very pleased with the plantings, but I did not receive a complete and detailed plan until the day the plantings were installed. All pricing was very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have been purchasing our Christmas tree from Groundshog for years and over the last 2 years, we have used their delivery service. Not only do they have beautiful trees but they do a wonderful job delivering AND setting up the tree... well worth the time, effort and stress.

What an exceptional job! My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with the work that Groundshog Landscaping completed for us! They tore out and poured a concrete pad to extend our driveway as well as tearing out an old walk way and replacing it with a new one. The also tore out the chaos, we were calling our plant jungle and gave us new plants, as well as room to walk around them. We do not have one big bush anymore. They gave us a rock to show off our house number. Finally they placed lighting in various places to show off the work and house.

The design that Cameron made for us was immediately an eye catcher. We will most certainly be using them again in the future. We have gotten many compliments on it_one person even had to take a double take because they didn't recognize the house. Highly, highly recommend!!

This is the second Christmas I've purchased my tree from Groundshog and had them deliver it to my home in downtown Baltimore. From the online ordering to the scheduling to the easy communication leading to delivery, I gotta say: it almost feels like not a business but a *family member* has found you the perfect tree. Heck, they even helped us secure the tree in its stand!

My experience with Groungshog was exceptional. My project was large & time consuming. The crew came when promised & did beautiful work. I had a stone retaining wall with stairs plus drainage installed. They did a fabulous job blending the new construction with what was already there. They were very conscientious in making sure the work was done right. I’m delighted.

We had extensive grading, drainage, driveway, hardscaping and landscaping work done. Groundshog did an excellent job correcting drainage issues that plagued us for years. Our new wall, driveway and sidewalk look great. They worked with us on field changes which improved the final project. Once they started, they worked every day til completion. Our driveway was a curb appeal negative. It had several layers of asphalt, patchwork repairs and drainage issues. Repaving with another layer of asphalt was not a good fix so we decided to remove the old and replace it. We also felt that investing in some appearance features would turn a curb appeal negative into a positive. We worked with Dave Snyder of Groundshog Landscaping and came up with a plan that would line the driveway and granite curbstone and add an apron of pavers with imbedded lighting. David was very patient with numerous changes and adjustments and helpful in suggesting what would, and wouldn't work. The paving was completed in a single day and the curbstone and pavers was completed in less than three days. The crew was very competent and clearly skilled at their craft. We are delighted with the result. Kudos to the Groundshop team.

I hired Groundshog to fix some ongoing drainage issues around our townhome, including poor downspout drainage, sagging concrete, and overall bad water flow. From the start, the process was straightforward and smooth.

My contact was reliable and communicative. Everything was clearly explained up front, they showed up when they said they would, and there were no surprises. Because of that, the project never turned into something stressful.

The crew was great — hardworking, professional, and clearly knew what they were doing. They moved efficiently and took care of the property while they worked.

At the end, the lead took the time to explain what was done and why, and didn’t rush through it, even when I had a bunch of questions.

The finished result made a real difference. We now have a proper sidewalk along the side of our house, and the drainage from the downspouts is finally handled correctly. No more downspout extensions crossing the walkway or creating a safety issue.

Groundshog Landscaping installed a paver driveway after removing our old asphalt driveway. David Snyder their sales manager was great to work with and generated several computer images of what the driveway would look like that helped us visualize the finished job. The same crew worked the project through some very cold days in December. They worked hard and were quite competent and meticulous in laying the pavers. The finished driveway looked just like the computer representation. We really love the finished product. The crew went beyond the contract and added mulch to the new bed that was created at the end of the driveway. Their cleanup at the end of the job was quite thorough. We've been in this house 27 years and never had a firm that was so easy and pleasant to work with and that did what they said they would. Despite coming across some unexpected items (like a 18 foot deep pit under the old driveway that they had to fill in) there were no add-ons to the contract. We also liked that the firm is local, which made the logistics easier. Finally, the crew practiced good safety including always wearing hearing protection when operating noisy equipment. We would hiring them again in a heartbeat if other projects come up.

From start to finish Groundshog has been excellent. From my 1st phone call to Joe and then with David and his site crews the process was smooth. Communication was fantastic and the quality of work was far above what most would do.

We had to replace a sewer line that included the destruction of our walkway and a large section of the front yard being torn up. Once the plumbers were done David has their crew out to prep for the replacement of the walkway. The fact that they used rebar to dowel in to the existing concrete and they used wire mesh and rebar in the new walkway prep - you don’t see companies doing that these days!

They completed the work in just a few days from concrete removal to forming up the new walkway and then the install of the sod.
