Tree reviews in Jessup, Maryland

Had some tree pruning/triming done.
They came out and gave an easy to understand explanation of their process and I shared some thoughts I had to ensure the trees were not over trimmed since they provide great privacy for our townhouse.
Chuck and company listened to my input and they did a great job of pruning and trimming as needed without cutting to much off. I would recommend them to anyone checking reviews.
Good communications and timely. -
Columbia Tree & Lawn provided a detailed estimate and then did all the work promised. There was a small delay getting scheduled because they are very busy with limited office staff. But they do respond to messages and everyone I encountered was friendly and very professional. Their rates are relatively high, but I needed both tree service and some serious weeding for my neglected yard. Since they have experts for everything, I think it was well worth the cost. I will likely use them again.

Chuck and his crew (including the office staff) are always who I turn to for any kind of tree work. Professional, on time, and good prices. 1st class operation!!

I've made numerous attempts to entice tree service providers to come out and remove some major limbs and two smaller trees. 1 kept ghosting me, and 2 never replied. Columbia Tree arrived the same day I called with a price, and they finished the job the following day!

It was necessary to cut a few trees and remove the stumps from a few more. Columbia Tree was prompt (and amiable) in scheduling us and coming out for an estimate. The crew went above and beyond to ensure the job was done right, and they were efficient and friendly. The subsequent cleanup was just as remarkable.

Three trees and numerous hazardous branches were expertly removed from our property by Columbia Tree & Lawn. They kept us updated on the day of service and promptly supplied an itemized cost for the job. The tree removal was completed quickly and expertly by the four-person crew. Our other crops were shielded from possible harm by the workers. Since the work was completed, there were no surprises.

Columbia Tree and Lawn Service did good work at a good price. Chuck, Lisa, and field crew were great to work with.

Jerrid was great in trimming huge tree and bush in my front yard. He completed work in a timely manner, made sure he listened to how I wanted it done, and cleaned up thoroughly. The business office needs better communication as they take too long to respond to messages if they reply at all. Day of appointment was confirmed, but not the time. Overall, I would recommend. Their price was fair and quality work.

Chuck and his team were excellent. Four trees were cleaned up for us. Everyone was courteous and patient with me as I went through everything. My driveway and yard were left spotless, and my trees look fantastic. To anyone, I would heartily suggest them!

Very happy with the service!!! I had a large tree limb come down in our backyard due to a storm and they were very quick to get me an estimate and even scheduled the work for a Sunday! The guys worked quickly and efficiently and clear all the excess debris. I would definitely hire them again and I highly recommend them!

If you have ever had a copse of bamboo in your yard then you may have an inkling of how desperate I felt. For those who don’t know - bamboo is an incredible plant. It is strong, incredibly resilient and grows overnight. It is incredibly hard to manage. Enter Chuck and his crew.
I was so grateful to find him and I am so happy and relieved with the results, especially as winter looms. Chuck walked the land, came up with a plan and over the matter of a couple of weeks they executed.
Even more I was able to trust him. He loves what he does and it’s evident in his work. -
EDIT after a reply from the company, since I can't comment directly to them: the comment was prompted during a conversation about the dog that accompanied the employee, and the employee stated this about Indian people. I didn't want to have to be so specific, but it is clear that I do. This sort of language should have no place in any conversation, regardless of who initiated the conversation, and never should have been brought up in any context.
Recently, we had Columbia Tree & Lawn Service come out to give us a quote for tree removal, and during his introduction, the owner of the business - Chuck - made an incredibly racist comment about how a group of people think dogs were only for eating. His services were declined after this unprofessional and offensive interaction.
Of course, I can't speak for the work of his employees themselves. But the face of the business reflects on all of them, unfortunately, and in this case, he has shed a very negative light on his own business.
As a human being and as someone who is in customer service myself, I felt that it was important to make sure people knew what type of person runs this business so other customers can make an informed decision. It is appalling and disgusting that someone would conduct themselves in this manner, let alone hold these beliefs in the first place. If someone can spew hatred like that so casually to someone they just met, I can't even begin to imagine what happens when we're not looking. -
I was very impressed with the professionalism and overall service from Columbia Tree and Lawn. They were very quick with coming out for a quote and they were very straight forward and the price was competitive and reasonable. They were very flexible to meet my needs breaking the job up into two parts by getting my downed branch taken care of right away and giving me time to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of the tree. They didn't charge me extra for breaking up the job with two separate quotes which was greatly appreciated. They came out when they said they would and did a great job of removing the branch and later the tree. I would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to call them again for any future needs.

Hello, this is my second time using Columbia Tree & Lawn Service and all I can say is WOW! First, I’d like to thank Chuck for the expert advice he gave me on how to tackle our large backyard project. He was very direct and honest about what needed to be done and what to prioritize. The first time they removed 3 problem trees in no time flat and they did this while I was at work. I came home to find a clean yard minus the 3 headaches I had. As of today, they are tackling a huge project consisting of over 5 enormous trees. I am having fun watching the speed and organization of the crew. Its hot and they are more than a third of the way through. Chuck these guys have more than earned whatever they stand to get paid, and I will definitely see you and the guys again soon to continue the next portion of our project. Lisa, you know I’m not going to leave you out of this. Folks, this lady made sure that we were able to budget properly, she offered payment plans that were actually doable! Thank you for that. Taking down large trees is an awfully expensive endeavor for most people and she made it realistic for us. Now for the part you all want to know, Yes, they are very affordable, and their quotes are more than respectable for the work that they do. So, should you use them? Duh, you should have already called them! This is my one and only stop for maintaining our lawn and tree care services from now on and should you utilize their services they will be yours as well. Again, I can’t say enough about the quality of their work. ---Signed Anthony “One Happy Customer”
P.S Chuck and Lisa please don’t forget us after everyone finds out that you company is AWESOME! :0) -
Had our Bradford Pear trimmed back. This is the second time Columbia Tree and Lawn have trimmed it and each time was totally pleased. Crew was friendly, efficient and did a great job. Area was cleaned before they left. Highly recommended

Excellent job removing a large tree. They grounded the stump and covered area with top soil. They worked very hard and charged a fair price. Friendly to deal with also.

I recommend Columbia Tree & Lawn Service for bamboo removal. Whenever I need a future tree or yard service, I will be contacting them.
When we moved into our house, we had a small stand of bamboo in the corner of our yard, which gave us some privacy from the neighbors. We didn’t know anything about bamboo and we liked how it looked, so we left it. During the following years it spread like crazy, and I lost sleep worrying about how to get rid of it before it took over. I found Columbia Tree while I was researching on the internet, and I asked Mr. Peddicord to come out for an estimate. I was unable to have the work completed at that time, but he was kind enough to come out again later and update the estimate. We just had the work completed last month.
Mr. Peddicord is incredibly knowledgable about bamboo, and he has a very calm and confident manner. He explained bamboo growth and behavior and talked about the removal process and maintenance. He and his team worked very hard, and it looks like they did a thorough job--the yard looks so clean now! It was a two-day job: on the first day they prepared the dig site, and the second they did all the digging, debris removal, barrier installing, and grading.
There are two things that I am dissatisfied with, and I think both reflect an internal communication problem.
The first thing involves scheduling. When I was first given my appointment date, I reached out to the office to tell them that it would’t work—we would be out of town until that date and needed at least one additional day between getting back home and the appointment. It was rescheduled for two days after the original date. The reason I needed that extra day was to prepare my yard: I had some plants in the dig site that I needed to move, there were some other items that I needed to set aside (string lights, termite traps, etc.), and I was going to move the bricks, rocks, and pavers. However, as we were pulling in the driveway on the morning that we got back into town, we saw Mr. Peddicord and his team digging up our yard. Despite my saying that the date would not work, they showed up anyway. They did remove all the objects, but in the process they broke the string lights. And even though they ended up not having to dig as far as originally thought, they dumped all their tools on top of the plants that I was going to dig up and move.
The second thing involves the contract. The original contract stated that they would be seeding for grass. I contacted the office and said that I wanted that part taken out of the contract because I am trying to reduce the amount of grass in my yard and because I wanted flower beds and rocks. One of the areas in the dig site was an established rock bed that had no grass or weeds. However, they seeded for grass anyway. I did my best to blow and rake away the seed, but I already have grass growing in exactly all the places where I didn’t want it. I’d ordered plants to install in these areas and they arrived a couple days after the bamboo removal—I had no choice but to plant and mulch them, and now I have the extra work of trying to dig up/kill the grass that’s encroaching.
The price was reasonable for the amount of time and effort involved, and they were very careful while performing the work and cleaning up afterward. I have no complaints about the quality of work. Everyone was friendly and professional. If you have a bamboo problem, give Columbia Tree a call. You’ll sleep better knowing that you have a real pro on your side! -
Charles and his team did an amazing job! We have a corner townhouse with a 45° HOA slope that drains rain water directly to the side of our house. After pointless arguments back and forth I am so glad I finally just handled the job personally. They re-engineered the slope, yard, and higher elevation points to work with the topography.
It’s a brilliant design that adds an aesthetically pleasing and organic look to the space. Charles and his team were thorough in their planning (calling 811 and handing buried utilities, marked problem spots I missed and gave advice on future considerations).
Looking forward to working with them in the future ⭐️ -
We used Chuck and his team for bamboo removal in our backyard, along with taking multiple trees down and ripping up flower beds around our house. We bought a house without knowing how invasive bamboo really is and we were so glad when we found Chuck. He talked us through how his team would remove the bamboo and we felt more at ease. Now we have a beautiful backyard thanks to Chuck, Brian, and co.

I am so glad I went with Columbia Tree & Lawn Service for our tree removal. Chuck was a pleasure to talk to and receive a quote from, he checked out a few other trees and said only the one needs to come down, so I feel I can trust him. The price was fair too. During the removal, everyone was very professional, there was no damage, and they went out of their way to make sure our garden lights, rock wall, and pavers were all safe. They also made sure I was happy with the service and got the stump exactly how I wanted it. Cleanup was quick and thorough too, I'm very happy with them and will be recommending them to everyone!
