Huff-N-Puff Cleaning Services

I've been using Huff-N-Puff for over 20 years. They are professional and thorough. They are responsive to even the smallest of issues. Highly recommend!

I am skeptical of the good reviews, wondering if the less favorable ones have been suppressed. Problematic booking process for a new customer, and impolite and slightly paranoid phone manner of the scheduler. Very high charges, very little availability, and marked rigidity in terms of assigning cleaners to a household--three cleaners, no matter how small the space, and "6 man hours"--which means 1 hr and 20 minutes, for $200. Wow. And credit card numbers taken for booking, before anyone shows up with a 48 hour cancellation policy, and charges for a cancellation (unwise, in the era of COVID--cancellations necessitated by turns in health should be permitted without this extreme policy). But even if all of this were standard (which it is NOT), when I explained that the initial cleaning would be limited to a few rooms which need more attention (a deeper cleaning), and there were antiques in one of those rooms, so I hoped for care in the cleaning (not to use harsh chemicals, and not too crowd too many people in one room), I was told that, "on second thought",
1) for an 1hr and 20 minutes 3 cleaners would only likely manage in cleaning the kitchen and nothing else ($200 for an average-sized eat-in kitchen which is already cleaned regularly by family and an aide who does housekeeping? Really?!!!!)
2) no adjustments could be made to send over fewer cleaners (in the era of COVID, this is unwise!!!! )
3) The risk of compromising quality was "so high" that with "a reputation to protect" this cleaning was not in the company's best interests
(Excuse me, What?? Pretty basic kitchen and two bathrooms, one bedroom, sitting room and hallway in a small house in a nice area of Silver Spring)
I then agreed to two hours instead of 1 hr and 20 minutes (a whopping $300 charge) so that the cleaners did not feel "rushed" during their one available spot as the scheduler on the phone said they would (and then "the chances of knocking something over would be greater"), but she repeated that they could no longer take the job as it once again, "Huff and Puff Cleaning has a reputation to protect"
Well, I have to say, this kind of treatment of a new customer with no past history of problems with cleaners or cleanings does put some tarnish on the reputation!

The team of cleaners they sent to my house were professional, prompt, and very, very good at their jobs. They were able to get stuff clean in my house that I had never SEEN clean before (don't judge my house - we all have those things that are never clean)! Mirna, Rosa, and Elena worked hard and I will definitely be calling them again.

Special thanks to Elena who cleaned my two bathrooms. As the mother of two boys, I know what a challenge and chore that can be and she did a spectacular job.
