I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH PRAISE FOR THIS COMPANY. I HAVE USED MANY OTHER CONTRACTORS AND THERE IS NO COMPARISON. From top to bottom, we were treated with respect and good humor. We were told what was happening each step of the way, which was important because we were living in the house during the 8 month renovation. They did what they said they were going to do and they ended on time. Unheard of in this business. I highly recommend them.

We’ve worked with Fresh Start on projects that include renovations of our kitchen, master bedroom, living room, and two bathrooms. We’ve been supremely pleased with their work. They’re responsive, honest, and easy to work with. Every project has turned out even better that we'd hoped.

Fresh Start did a major renovation and remodel for us, basically building out an additional ~25-35% of space onto our house. That is to say, this was a long and substantial project involving many different aspects of home construction contracting.

Throughout the entire project, they were transparent, timely, and extremely professional. Budgets and work on the house were clearly laid out and explained, and we received frequent and accurate updates on project budgets. Every subcontractor we dealt with was knowledgeable and extremely capable, as well as relatively fast. Moreover, when we hit a time crunch where we needed to hit milestones asap, both Fresh Start and their subcontractors absolutely cranked under tight timelines to get us to where we needed to be within the timeframe it needed to be in.

We couldn't be more pleased with our experience. Fresh Start is certainly on the pricier side, as GCs go, and they are very upfront about that. However, the premium pricing also gets you premium service and, at least in our experience, they're more than worth it. We certainly recommend Fresh Start for home reno/remodel projects and I'm confident we'll be returning to them again with more projects in the years to come.

Since fully renovating my home seven years ago with Fresh Start, I have used the company for every project including recently upgrading my garage. I am also a very happy user of their List Services service which provides biannual maintenance for my home in the fall and spring. Service is prompt, fairly priced and the employees are courteous and extremely professional. Would recommend this company highly!

We had a very positive experience with Fresh Start renovating our kitchen, bathroom and several other small projects in our Bedford house (all that throughout the difficult time period of COVID pandemic) – we recommend them wholeheartedly. We are very happy with all aspects of the project: everything looks great and functions as promised. Here are some things that impressed us the most:
• Communication – Setting up initial and subsequent consultations with Nick were easy, all emails with questions were answered within 48 hours and if not, there was an explanation for the delay. The same happened with our project manager, Dan, who was similarly responsive throughout the project and after.
• Transparency – we were always kept informed of any deviations from the original contract in both budget and work needed areas. All add-ons that we requested were priced and approved ahead.
• Workmanship – The quality of work was very good and that included the in house people and subcontractors
• Attitude and worker interactions – we liked the work ethics and the attitude: “ if you want something we will figure out how to do it”. All workers were really easy to deal with, respectful and pleasant. At the end of the day, the work areas were cleaned up and accessible
On the wish list, it would have been nice if the invoicing allowed a better tracking and categorizing of the expenses. The budget reports were always available but it was hard to compare them to the original contract especially with new add-ons or deviations from original estimates.
We would definitely go back to Fresh Start for any other projects in the future. Working with them alleviates many headaches associated with house renovations.

We had fresh start contracting completely remodel our first floor half bathroom. They were very professional, always on top of things and the final product is fantastic! I would never hesitate to recommend fresh start contracting for any home remodeling work!

We hired Fresh Start to completely renovate the layout in our second floor condo in Cambridge. They were incredibly responsive (something hard to come by with a contractor), clear and detailed in their estimate and invoices, and managed to complete the project mostly on schedule despite Covid. I am blown away by the final product and would highly recommend them to a friend.

Fresh Start did a fabulous job for us converting a 2 family into a beautiful single-family home--all while we continued to occupy the house. It was a huge job since the house was in bad shape but Mark Tuttavilla and his crew managed the process on budget and on time, all during the pandemic. Communication is so key on a job like this, and Fresh Start's was excellent. Team members were professional and courteous at all times and thoughtful about consulting us on key matters. They were also really respectful of the fact that we were living there -- first downstairs, then upstairs -- with two kids. We are so happy with the results and glad we found Fresh Start.

Fresh Start Contracting has been a great resource for me. My house was plagued with problems caused by poor workmanship of another builder who did my addition 12 years ago. Fresh Start has been instrumental fixing these problems. They replaced sections of roofs and walls, painted walls, replaced chimney, etc. They did top notch quality work, on time and affordable. I wish I had used them in the first place. I know the job would have been right the first time.

Fresh Start has been a wonderful partner on several projects in the last few years. Ben and Nick are responsive, communicative, thorough, and thoughtful, and they establish a great report with their clients. We continue to seek opportunities to work with them, and we see this partnership extending well into the future.

It can be really hard to find a contractor that you genuinely can trust. We were very impressed with the level of integrity and consideration we were given throughout our project. The scope of our project was absolutely gigantic, so there was definitely challenges that came up. Working with someone we knew would keep their word and work with us to bring the project to completion meant the world to us. We were left with a fully gutted and remodeled home that we absolutely adore!

Fresh Start was an absolute pleasure to work with. They're a well oiled machine in terms of preparation, budgeting, and execution. We used them for a full gut renovation of our home (during COVID times). They held weekly sessions with us to walk through the process, talk about what was completed, what was coming up, and whether they needed any questions answered to unblock them. They were very thoughtful about staying within the budget and making suggestions on how to keep costs down. I would suggest Fresh Start for any sized project!

Can't say enough good things about our full-gut condo renovation with Fresh Start. From booking a consult with Nick online (a must for this phone-phobic millennial), to their transparent pricing, to being assigned dedicated project managers (<3 you Scott + David), to the quality of the work - it was excellent from start to finish. We've moved since and already engaged them for maintenance work on our new house, with another big renovation on our long-term wishlist. Can't recommend them enough.

We couldn't be happier with the work Fresh Start did on our renovation—removing two walls and moving our kitchen from one space to another. From the beginning, the people we worked with helped us think through how to maximize the space and were always responsive to our questions. Their attention to detail was superb, from the careful thinking of how to work molding around oddly-placed outlets to adding shelving to nooks to the careful painting, and in the few inevitable cases where there were mistakes they were quickly fixed. The estimate was also right on. All in all, a wonderful experience, even during a pandemic.

I am really happy with the high quality renovation work Fresh Start did recently for my home. They have great taste and fantastic subcontractors. I really like my new modern hardwood floor, new modern bathrooms, LED ceiling lights, new HVAC system, and new paintings. If you look for a high quality professional contractor, choose Fresh Start.
