Landscaping reviews in Oak Park, Michigan

Owner came out and gave a reasonable quote, workers were on time, did a good job, and cleaned up after.

I just wasted a month on this company trying to get a bid proposal, in which case I never received and they never even got started on it. If your a company looking for service I would not recommend this place

Always On Time, Very Friendly! My #1 Landscaping Company, Located in Oak Park. South of 9 mile.

There is nothing like getting a great job done for a great price. Steve at Excell gave me both a great job done on re-building my paves front steps at very good price. Thanks Steve,

We had Excell do all of our landscaping and a brick paver patio for our new house! They were professional, courteous, and very reasonable! We continue to receive compliments on a job well done! We would highly recommend Excell!

I needed a retaining wall on my property. I spoke with an engineer first so I knew what was required. Excell was the only contractor I talked to that didn't try to ridiculously oversell what I needed. They showed up when they said they would, worked straight through, and cleaned up after themselves. That alone puts them in the top tier of contractors in my experience. I will absolutely use them again.

I did search around, and got several estimates before finding Excell Snow & Turf Maintenance. Starting by Steve, the estimator, is a very professional, and very quick responder. Speaking about the job to be done: The team did a great job, they were quick and efficient and they did exactly what they said would do when they said they would do it. The work crew didn’t stand around. They really worked as a team. They are knowledgeable about the entire process regarding paving. Wit that said, we do highlight recommend Excell Snow & Turf Maintenance for any paving work.

I have worked with Excell for 6 years now. They do both my lawn and snow here on the property I work on and I even use them for my home when needed. They keep my community looking the absolute best! No matter what new projects come up here, big or small, Excell has always taken care of things quickly and priced right. There are many times I have called them on issues that has arisen and they always get me squared away as soon as possible. The crews are professional, caring, and hard working. This company does MORE than just excell!

They did a good job on our pruning and a great clean up job! Thanks, Vincente!

Posting for a friend who had Arborvitae trees put in. She was extremely pleased with the hard work completed by Santiago and Juan Carlos Garcia!

Michael and crew have been taking care of my landscaping for several years. I appreciate their attention to detail and excellent service!

David was very professional and true to his word. Showed up on time and stuck to the timeline. The finished product turned out better than I expected!

Felipe and the crew did an amazing job

Vincente from Great Lakes Landscaping did such a wonderful job pruning all the landscape. Looks fabulous! Thank you!!

I appreciate the dedication and devotion to quality work. I have a nice home that needed landscaping. A lot of people bid on the job (of course) - but I needed someone I can trust to do the job right and be there to back up the work. Great Lakes Landscape Design has been around for decades and Ivan and his crew and real pros. They really know hardscapes and landscapes - and installed a great and beautiful design. They even had a designer on staff that helped me. I noticed there are a LOT of companies with the name 'GREAT LAKES' - don't be confused. This is the one you should hire. A great Michigan company doing incredible work.

Fantastic work done by Great Lakes. We had our landscaping redone after a prior landscaper just didn't put much creativity into the design. We worked with Steve and his team, they were knowledgeable, creative, responsible, and very easy to work with. I highly recommend.

Michael and crew did a fantastic job with my pruning and other miscellaneous work that I had done at my house. Everything is growing and beautifully thanks to their expertise. Thank you!

Michael and crew are amazing. Thank you, thank you for arranging them to take responsibility for my landscaping. They do a perfect job each week. I don’t have to follow up.

Great Lakes has excellent service. Easy.to work with, very willing to go extra mile to please customer. Provided expert horticulture service when I inquired how to care for my new plants. Would highly recommend.

I don’t like writing reviews like this, but I’m making an exception. The guys at Great Lakes Landscape Design are a NIGHTMARE. Terrible communication and completely incapable of taking responsibility for their mistakes. 0 out of 10.

When their rep showed up for the walkthrough of a front yard project i had planned, he pointed instead to a retaining wall that he said was wildly irregular, served no function, and was in bad shape. He also claimed the removal of this wall would not cost much. (Though he said the same thing about the back walkway which he ended up quoting me at 35k.)

I mention the walkway because when he sent over the estimates, I quickly agreed to the more manageable number of 5k for the wall. Unfortunately in doing so, I missed where he had unexpectedly written “Remove the wall - and replace it with another one”

At no point did the rep and I discuss rebuilding the wall. It would have made zero sense in the context of our conversation which was “this wall serves no purpose except eventually falling on to your home due to the grade.” So we had agreed to remove the wall and correct the grade.

So here I am 5k in the hole, and thanks to Great Lakes Landscape Design this entire situation will repeat itself in five years tops when this wall will once again endanger my family and my home.

When I contacted the rep again about this issue he quoted me 13k to remove the wall and correct the grade. He took no responsibility for his actions and said there would be no discounts. “It’s not warranted.”

In summary if you would like to spend 5k on a job you never wanted done in the first place, call Great Lakes Landscape Design. What a headache.

Vicente and team mulch install and yard clean up was perfection.
