A technician from Nexttech showed up without any prior call. To my surprise, he mentioned that he had no experience working on this type of appliance. He then contacted Hatco for basic device information and to provide them the error code from the display.

Since his location is just 1 mile from my gas station and the food warmer itself costs only around $6,000 brand new, I was shocked by his quote of $1,600 just to replace a thermostat. He allocated 2 hours and 30 minutes for the initial visit—even though he was only 1 mile away—and another 4 hours and 30 minutes for replacing the part, plus $400 for the part itself. It seems unreasonable to charge nearly 7 hours of labor for a thermostat replacement.

I called another technician who fixed the food warmer for a total of $263. It was simply a blown fan, and everything else was fine. Ironically, Nextech is still charging me $339 for their employee to come out, even though they didn't fix anything. I highly recommend avoiding Nextech, especially their service in Minnesota and technician name ADAM .
