Advantage installed a new electric line for an induction stove, and because we have an old house, had to do some extra work to reorganize the panel circuits. Everything from scheduling the estimate through the completed work was a good experience, especially the great communication at every step.

Jake Q was amazing. I had little/no power throughout my home early on Christmas Eve morning. Jake diagnosed the issue, calmed my nerves, and got my important appliances powered until the utility company could come out and fix the root cause. A++ job.

Excellent workmanship! Technicians removed existing knob and tube wiring and replaced with new code compliant grounded wire, this was a difficult task in itself while avoiding damage to walls. Highly recommend for all your electrical needs.

Ok, this company is awesome. At 7:30 pm on Dec 24th the power went out in half our house, including the kids rooms (who are 8 months and 6 years old…so either of them waking would be a nightmare on Christmas Eve). Anywho, I called Advantage Electric and a real person answered and she connected me to an on-call tech almost immediately. Jake was awesome at trouble shooting over the phone to assess whether he would be able to support or if we needed to call the utility company. Regardless of the holiday timing, he was incredibly thorough, very kind, and super helpful. It ended up being a utility issue that required xcel energy to come out, but Jake and Advantage Electric definitely gained a new customer tonight. Thank you for being kind in what could have been a stressful start to the holiday!

Advantage Electric really came through for us in completing electrical work in our attic on a tight schedule as part of an abatement project another company was doing for us. I reached out to them to schedule an estimate for removing knob & tube wiring we suspected we had in our attic. Not only did they estimate the job for free, but they also blocked out their schedule for two days the following week in advance to allow for the knob & tube removal if necessary while staying on our abatement schedule. To everyone's relief, all we found in the attic once the vermiculite was safely removed by our abatement contractor was an open splice. Brooks quickly fixed it allowing our attic to be safely re-insulated without delay (this was in December), and then spent about an hour with my husband explaining how he could improve our home's wiring on his own and follow up with a safety inspection from Advantage once this winter's DIY Odyssey was complete. If you're still reading and looking for an electrician team who will do quality work as part of a complex project with a tight timeline, look no further than Advantage. They're the best we've found!

Advantage Electric did an incredible job replacing knob and tube wiring and generally updating the electrical and lighting at our early 1900s home. They were wonderful communicators, worked on the schedule we needed, made helpful suggestions, disclosed errors when they were made and immediately implemented a plan to address any issues that arose from them, and overall were a pleasure to work with. Brooks was wonderful to deal with from estimate to project updates. The team clearly has fun working together. This was a huge project and very important to us. Advantage knocked it out of the park. We will be using them for all our electrical needs in the future (if we ever have any because they did that good a job). Thanks to the entire team.

Dillon came out and completed a few random jobs I had and what a great experience!! Everyone at Advantage Electric was so helpful, from scheduling to arrival time to completion. Dillon was up front with pricing and gave several solutions for the job needed. I didn’t feel rushed or pressured and he answered all my questions thoroughly. Work was fairly priced (in comparison to the competition). The crew was professional and did a good job of installing and cleaning up after themselves (had to cut a hole in the wall). I would absolutely use them again and would recommend them to others.

Advantage electric diagnosed and corrected a weird problem that occurred when I replaced a two prong outlet with a three pronged outlet in my garage. It was late on a Saturday on a cold winter evening. My house is older and still has fuses. When I replaced the fuses after replacing the outlet, about half the house didn’t have electricity, including our heating system. I figured I had screwed something up with the new outlet. So I started calling electricians. The first I called wanted us to wait until Monday. You can’t wait 2 days in a Minnesota winter with your heat out. I called Advantage and they could send someone right away. Of course, a weekend emergency call would cost an arm and a leg. But there was little choice since I needed the heat back on ASAP.

The electrician they sent started by looking at the outlet I replaced, told me I had actually done a good job (for an amateur) and the problem had to be between the main panel and the outlet. So we went to the main fuse panel. He found that two fuse circuits were dead however the fuses themselves were still good. After a little more investigation he discovered that two fuse sockets themselves had worked loose. I didn’t even know that was possible. Apparently my pulling fuses at the main panel caused enough vibration at the panel to loosen two of the sockets. So he tightened them back up and the power was fully restored.

While it cost more than I would have liked to pay, at least I got my heat back on a sub-zero winter night. And the problem he found and corrected was one that I didn’t even know was possible to occur. Only an experienced professional would be able to do that.

I replaced the outlet because I need it to charge a new PHEV. The outlet is a little far from where I really want to park the car so I eventually want to add a completely new outlet at a more convenient location. Once the weather warms up, I will definitely be contacting Advantage to do that work.

Our neighbors house was struck by lightning and we had collateral electric damage at our house. Advantage was excellent to work with. Very thorough in their inspections. Excellent repairs and were very good at explaining everything they were going to do and why. Highly recommend Advantage Electric!

The electricians who came out to fix our breaker box were great to work with. A space heater had tripped a switch that would not reset, and they diagnosed the issue quickly and made the repair without fuss. They were clear about what they were doing and left everything tidy when they finished.

They were also friendly with our cats, which was a small but appreciated touch in a stressful situation. Overall the visit felt calm, professional, and easy, and I would gladly call them again if we need electrical work in the future.

I contacted Advantage for an estimate for a basement remodel following a full drain tile installation. Walls and drop ceilings are removed, exposing decades of 'updates' in our 100+ y.o. house. I received a prompt reply and visit within a few days to discuss a dozen superfluous junction boxes, knob and tube remediation, baseboard heater removal, bathroom updating, and other miscellaneous corrections. I received a very detailed estimate and follow-up call within a few days that accurately captured expectations. I'm considering how to proceed but my experience so far has been great. It was not a free estimate, but well worth the price.

We've used Advantage Electric twice in different houses we've owned: to troubleshoot, repair and replace interior/exterior outlets, and to add outlets on different circuits with varying requirements. In both cases all interactions from prompt scheduling, to actual service and repairs were great. In the recent visit, electricians Chris & Carl explained the pros, cons, and implications of options we considered and in one case suggested a simpler, less expensive solution. They also took the time before they left to review our electrical panel, answer questions, and make economical recommendations for future projects we're considering. We'll definitely call them first for the next job. A good, honest, fair and independent electrical service company.

Advantage did a phenomenal job inspecting and ultimately completing a full modernization of the wiring in our 106 year old home in Minneapolis. Prices were fair and reasonable, and customer service was impeccable.
