Our contractor hired Hotwire (St. Louis) to do the electrical work on our kitchen remodel. It took them about 9 days to complete the electrical work, that our contractor said would take about 4-5 days. Fact: their work failed St. Louis County electrical inspections, not once, but 3 separate times.
Our contractor stopped using them as a subcontractor after our job.

They were the subcontractor for our basement finish. They billed my contractor for services and we paid him under the terms of our contract with our contractor. He won't pay them. So, they started coming after us. They have sent lien notice letters and threatened collection. But, we don't have the contract with them. They never sent us a bill. Now they are collecting because they can't collect from our contractor. They are just trying to find the open pocketbook. Also, I believe this is a retaliatory response to a poor review I left on their work on Angie's list.

Besides this issue where they will just go after anyone and threaten and try to scare them just to get cash, their work was sub par and they didn't even complete it the right way. This is truly a terrible company.

They were able to get my job done in the estimate appointment took less than 2 hrs don't go with huge corporations keep it mom and pop and support local. Super affordable as well

Hotwire electric did an excellent job at our home. Joe showed up on time (early even!) was professional, respectful, and could easily handle all of our children's questions. He diagnosed and fixed each electrical problem we had. Call Hotwire Electric and get the job done at a great price.

Omg. I cannot rave about a company more than them! Truly sad we’re moving out of state and they will no longer be our go to electrician! Darryl is super respectful and responsive. Tldr: did not complete work and unresponsive to calls. Work that they did complete seems to be holding up.

My partner and I were recommended hotwire by our real estate agent when we were buying a house. We asked for hotwire to do a total of 2 hours of work (I am not exaggerating, when they did show up they only stayed for 2 hours) which were required to acquire occupancy and, therefore, needed to be done in 3 weeks. They assured us they could do it on time.

2 weeks later we had called multiple times, received half answers and been told our electrician was busy doing other last minute jobs (even though he knew ours was time sensitive). When they did finally come out to quote us they attempted to charge an additional $3000 to get the outlets in the house up to code (even though we had a handyman scheduled to do the same work + more for $700 total). It took them an additional week to fix the bill by removing a few items.

They assured us they could finish the work on a specific day and then... Didn't show up. To be fair, severe weather made it hard to travel but we did not receive any notification or heads up and, at this point, the work had been rescheduled 3 times. At this point we had less then a week before our lease ended and an occupancy check we had to reschedule (was supposed to be the next day). They ended up coming and doing the work, we ended up getting occupancy on time, but this was way more stress then it was worth and... They didn't even complete it.

We were told the work would be completed at the end of August due to Ameren needing to be present. I was unsurprised when they didn't call and even more unsurprised when I called, was told I'd hear back later that day, and didn't hear from them at all (it's been a week at this point). What I was surprised about is that Ameren was able to do the work same week when I called them directly. Not sure why hotwire quoted a month to get the work done but I definitely won't be calling or using their services again to find out.
