Citizen Carpentry

About the business:

Citizen Carpentry began as a small scale collaboration in a south city garage workshop. After outgrowing that space, it existed as a consultation-only service as well as a teaching endeavor through a great local non-profit - Perennial. In late 2014, Marcis and Emanuel decided to pool resources and move into a shared workshop following extensive training on both their parts.

Marcis has a background in construction and rough framing, as well as drywall, light electrical and plumbing work, project management, and a lifelong obsession with art and process-based work. Emanuel is trained in traditional, hand-worked furniture foundations, visioning techniques and drafting skills, and is deeply committed to enabling broader community access to tools and skills.

Together, an excellent productive tension exists that pushes our boundaries constantly between meeting the client's needs in a timely and cost-effective manner and producing work of the highest quality.
