Cold calling people multiple times when you've already declined is absolutely absurd. Then the guy who called is brand new and doesn't know anything. Couldn't answer any questions why would I use them.

I do not recommend Vivint. They use deceptive sales practices. They tell you various equipment is free and then you end up with a loan?! They keep sending people to my house to "check on" my service and equipment. I will not let them in the house. I will never buy any additional equipment or updated equipment from this company. In addition, their technicians do really sloppy work. I wish I had read reviews before agreeing. Please, if they knock on your door, turn them away without hesitation!

For starters our phone wasn't compatible with their system....why didn't they know this? Finally a month after we canceled the guy came to remove their equipment and he had no respect as to the damage to the walls or our home! He made zero attempt to clean up after himself, he left gapping holes in the walls, and staples in the wall still and on the floor. No apology no nothing. I don't recommend them at all.

Installation of the update to our old alarm system was smooth and had no surprise charges. We highly recommend Central District Alarm.

I'm going to tell the truth so help me God. They told me my cameras would cost 561.00 dollar. I got a call from Fortiva credit card better know as the bank of missourI. Vivint had opened a credit card from Fortiva in my name using my personal information I provided for my Vivint account. They had charged 4000.00 dollars on the card and said it was for the equipment. Charged 720.00 dollars for installatio. Had a IP address to a different IP address I had authorized them to program in to my system. That's how people can watch you inside your house, through the camera installed . They committed fraud when they open an account in my name and changed the contract numbers after I signed the original contract. I have a complaint with the Federal securities commission. I will be pushing charges against Vivint!!! John Corley

Stay away from them. Great product, but very underhanded tactics. They will do every thing to keep you in debt to them, even extent a contract you don't want. Tell them you want to cancel, and you will have to buy your way out. I am getting a lawyer.

I've been a customer for Vivint for over 2 years. It has been the biggest mistake I've ever made.
Absolutely terrible customer support, terrible non working equipment. I am still paying for the over priced non functioning system.
It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with this company.
They will not replace or repair their equipment without you paying for the extra warranty. They will also charge you for someone to come to repair their defective equipment. Stay away

I'm disappointed with Vivint for a number of reasons. First, the sales practices seem very deceptive. I had an associate show up at my house and offer a discount to install the system if I would become a "model home". However, it seems like that was essentially BS. I calculated the cost afterward of just buying the equipment individually and installing and it would have been less overall. Turn these people away if they show up at your door and do your research!!! I had been planning on getting a security system after recent vandalism on my street of several cars, but I regret buying Vivint now.

In addition to the sketchy sales practices, I also think they up-sell their equipment. I was told the cameras were such high quality that I could zoom in and still clearly see the picture. Not true at all... even after upgrading my internet. The picture is okay, but not great or crystal clear like advertised. They also botched the install on my one camera, and it's so low that you can't see anything if a vehicle is parked in my driveway, making it useless. I was also sold a better door sensor than what was actually installed. Lastly, I was told my system would work via cellular service if my WiFi went down, which also doesn't seem to work as the whole hub just seems to disconnect without WiFi. Thankfully I haven't had to test it in a true emergency.

To top it off, I asked the associate before purchasing about potential price increases in the future and was told my price for my service would not go up. Well, you probably guessed it... prices are increasing. And to make it worse, I recently purchased an Alexa Echo device, seeing that it was compatible with Vivint on the Vivint app. Well, it turns out that they discontinued their "partnership" with Alexa, but they haven't updated that throughout their app/website yet. I'm really annoyed, since that was a big reason for me purchasing the Echo.

I am seriously thinking of just canceling my service with Vivint, and trying to sale off the equipment. However, apparently trying to cancel your service with them is just as difficult as everything else. Overall, I would recommend just going with another home security company. Otherwise, do your research thoroughly to ensure this is truly the company you want to be stuck with for a long, long time.

    October 28. 2025
This is my complaint lodged against Vivint Security Systems. In November of 2024 Them Vivint was to install two cameras for me outback of my house I already had motion sensor lights. The gentleman put in a light I did not order He told me I wasn't being charged for it but I needed it to match up with the camera he put on my garage. It turned out the camera was the same as the camera on the other side or he did not replace the light. Two weeks later they had to come out and rewire because he'd picked up an extension cord from the floor of my garage and plugged it into the wall because he didn't wire all the way to the wire socket in the wall He left it hanging over the rafters and used a brown extension cord from the 1970s when I first moved in. then a week later my brand new car was damaged and blood was put on my garage and I had no pictures of it. They sent somebody out who said the camera was working fine and kept sending people out until 10 months later when a real technician came and told me they had stapled through the wiring to the camera He replaced the wiring then the camera still didn't work properly and I had to wait two more weeks to have the camera replaced In the process urine was thrown on my house. I had made a total of 77 calls to Vivid at night when the light would not work and come on properly I was never shown how to work the Vivint AP ever until 10 months into owning the equipment then the gentleman programmed it that the light came on at midnight instead of at dusk. It took me three hours worth of phone calls to get them to let me leave the company. Then I was informed the equipment I owned since I paid over $1000 for the two cameras and the light And the hub all of it was mine but as everyone knows Vivint equipment is no good once you're not with them. So I just want people aware of that the electrician that came to my house to put up new light since they beat the hell out of my light and my light was not usable said he had to leave them also because the cameras didn't work for him and five more people answered my cry for affirmations on how bad Vivid was for them on Facebook. They since have called twice before finally disconnecting me to tell me they would give me a cheap rating to come back to them. I said leave me alone You have affected my health the stress of feeling like I'm not protected affected my getting well from throat cancer. So I want to warn everybody They don't send out technicians in the ten months I had trouble no technician was assigned to replace my light or my camera that wasn't working until the 11th month Then the guy said he put on a camera that didn't work so he had to replace it right away. I don't want anybody taken by this company. They had me stand out in the pouring down rain to test the camera and see if they could hear me beating on the windows of my car and they could not see it on the camera feed they could only hear it on the phone while I was talking to them. This company needs to be shut down from taking people that don't have money and abusing them. The technician that first put in the light I didn't order was sent back to my house and refused to be here when I was available after a specialist appointment and called my brother and said if he didn't come to the house he would list that I didn't want help Nothing happened to that gentleman and he did not show my brother how to use the app like I requested I be shown he walked through my house looked at all the sensors walked to the back door and told my brother everything was working fine and didn't even check the control panels. This company is a joke and don't be the joke they use for money. Because that technician is still working for them who didn't wire my garage correctly and put staples through the wiring. I wish you much luck in finding a good security company but this isn't it.

Dylan Luke a Vivint sales associate, offered a free home security system. He said that, I would just have to pay $102, and a monthly fee, the installation fee of $200 would be waived, and the 1st months bill would be waived, if I put a Vivint sign in the yard, which I agreed on. He had me sign a few documents and enter my ssn saying it was for id verification, and scanned my id. I reviewed the documents
after the installer left. Little did I know I just signed up for a $6000.00 loan/financing. I received an email about confirming a payment to another institution. The bill was $2500.00. I called the institution and was informed the the security system was not $2500.00, it was $4200.00. No fees were waived, nothing was free. I had entered in a 60 month contract for a security system, that has not cought up to todays time. The installer's work was a 3/10. No attention to detail, cords were hanging from the walls. He didn't have the right equipment to complete the job and had to leave and come back. I was told it would take 1.5 hours, it literally took 8 hours. What I thought was a good deal has given me the worst anxious ever.

Sergio was nice however , he was not well-informed about Vivint's buyback limit. I strongly recommend that potential customers be advised to confirm the remaining balance on their current security contract before moving forward. This would prevent wasting their time as well as the technician's--John, who was excellent.

After speaking with Sergio for about an hour, we decided to switch from ADT to Vivint. I made it very clear to Sergio that we had just moved into our home and recently signed with ADT. He assured us multiple times that this would not be a problem and that Vivint's buyback program would cover it. Based on that assurance, we moved forward. Within 30 minutes, John arrived to begin the installation.

During that time, I called ADT to cancel our contract and was informed of the remaining balance on our equipment. I relayed this information to Sergio, only for him to tell me that he would need to check with his manager because the amount might be too high for Vivint to cover. He then said the installation would need to be paused--despite John having already started setting up--until we got confirmation.

The next day, I had to reach out to Sergio myself to get an update, only to be told that Vivint would not cover the amount after all. He suggested I call him back in a year when the remaining balance would be lower. Frankly, I found that response unprofessional and disappointing.

Vivint should absolutely advise prospective customers to contact their current provider beforehand to confirm any buyout obligations. It would save time and prevent situations like this from happening.

Let me start with this, the salesman that came to my door was one of the pushiest people I've ever met. As a young women owning her own home, I felt very uncomfortable. After 3 HOURS of this man selling me everything under the sun, the people from Vivint came to install my cameras and such the same day. THEY WERE AT MY HOME TIL MIDNIGHT!! That should've been my first red flag. Then after they finally left, the next day we were getting ready for a party (in which this salesman knew we were having because I literally told him I was going to be busy the next day) and he showed up to my home unannounced, came barging in and asking if I would refer friends to him and wouldn't leave my house til I made a call to a friend. This was 6 years ago. I let it go and figured he was just trying to do his job. Since then, Vivint has been nothing but problems and they just keep raising my price. Anytime I call to have something fixed, they're up selling me on something else. I want out of this contract with them so bad. We don't even use this stupid security system. The reviews for this place are awful and I'm very upset that I didn't look into it prior. DO NOT answer the door if they come knocking.

This is a bad business alert.
Do not buy anything for Vivent Home system sales rep that might be coming thru your neighborhood!!!! They lie about prices and what you will be charged for. The pad the billing to get more money. They say the system works without WIFI but that is not completely true. We got a basic home system which is a touchscreen panel, doorbell camera, outdoor camera with spotlight, a few door sensors and they billed us for $3800 worth of equipment.

I'm sad to say that my vivint system, in the past few weeks has been very disappointing. I have called over five times and spoke to multiple representatives regarding our camera system with Vivint. They would have me go through a 20-30 min step by step each time I call to try and reboot my system/cameras, which by the way NEVER works! I am now in the process of looking for another security system for my household. I wish I could give no stars! Thumbs down!

Vivint should be a shame of themselves. How is it that you have perfect credit and get denied for a security system.
I am beyond pissed cause I called for just a quote nd ended up with a hard inquiry on my credit report!!!!! When I told him I didn't want him to do a credit check. Then they tried to get me to pay them 230.00 for 5mos for their system. I think Not!!! I am really pissed to the highest. By the way I already have they system nd just wanted to upgrade. Why did I have to go thru all this just for a QUOTE! I REALLY THINK THEY GET MONEY FOR ALL APPLICATION ON THEIR PRODUCT NO MATTER IF THEY APPROVE OR NOT. I will not RECOMMEND THEM. NOMORE.
I have had they service for years nd this is what Loyalty look like.
