Aaron and his guys are the best. Super knowledgeable, fast and efficient! They came out at midnight, on a Sunday, during a blizzard and fixed my leaking shower for me with no complaints.

hired this company to fix my whole house dehumidifier that was pulling a error code. On 7/19/2024, was charged $411.00 to fix this problem. The error code again showed 2 days later when I went in basement in morning and found the system off sometime at nivht, I immediately called the company on 7/24, 7/25 and 7/26 was repeated my told someone would call back. No one called on 8/2/2024 called again, was once again told someone would call, office called back a week later and scheduled an appointment on 8/14/2024. The same service man came and replace oxygen sensors, was charged $530.00 and was told the unit was fixed. The u it shut off within a day, showing same code. I attempted to contact company several more timez, again no call back until 9/1. The service man called back and told me how to clean the unit to try fix it. I followed his instructions completely but that also didn't work. I have contacted this company numerous times and told the service man would call. NEVER has!I’m

Prompt response to a few issues that other plumbers didn’t fix. Super friendly staff with quality service. Very knowledgeable. Definitely our go to for Plumbing and Heating services. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend. Called mid-afternoon for help with our sump pump. Wasn’t sure of the exact issue when I called in, but I knew we would be flooded within a few hours if it wasn’t fixed same day. The gentleman in the office said he would call me back to see if he had someone available to assist. Prompt response and arrival- within the hour of my call. Tech came well equipped for the job. Re-routed our pump plumbing and replaced it. The pump works more efficiently now. Thank you!

Ben & Aaron have been extraordinarily good to us, both servicing our heating needs, and also responding to a crises when our pipes burst due to the severe cold this past winter.

Aaron and his team performed absolutely outstanding service! From start to finish, this company exceeded all expectations. The team was punctual, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. They diagnosed the issue quickly, explained everything clearly, and completed the work efficiently. Not only did they fix the problem, but they undid the bad work of a previous company who botched the original job. It's rare to find a company that combines skill, honesty, and great customer care—these guys nailed it. Highly recommend to anyone needing HVAC services. Thank you for the amazing work, and cannot wait to have you back again to service our furnace and AC yearly for tune ups!

Aaron and his team replaced my unsafe oil furnace with a new high efficiency ducted heat pump as well as a new heat pump water heater. They also upgraded my incorrect flex ducting to insulated rigid ducting. The new system is absolutely amazing and my water heating energy has dropped 5 fold. Aaron took proper air calculations and determined my 2nd floor return was not sufficient and ran new returns to the upstairs. These guys are super knowledgeable, professional and courteous to my family. I haven't met hvac personnel that actually know the science of what they are doing and putting in properly sized systems.

I contacted Christenson Plumbing to replace the anode rod in my water heater as routine maintenance. Ben Christenson was able to recommend and order an electrically charged anode rode that can extend the life of the water heater. Ben took the time to explain the components and installation needed. He also added an expansion tank and identified a failed release valve on the tank. All of which improved safety and longevity of the tank. I much appreciated the timeliness and quality of the work completed. They also sent someone onsite afterward to check up on a pressure setting afterwards. I high recommend this local business for plumbing for their service, pricing and quality of work.

Hilltop plumbing and heating has been there for us for years. Whether it is a routine camp opening/closing, upgrade or an urgent repair they always come through.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does a contractor do?

A contractor handles repair, renovation, construction, and property improvement work. Depending on the project, that may include labor, materials, scheduling, coordination of other trades, and oversight from start to finish.

  • When should I hire a contractor instead of a specialist?

Hire a contractor when the job involves multiple steps, multiple trades, or broader project management. If you only need one narrow task, a specialist may be enough. If the work touches several areas of the home, a contractor is often the better fit.

  • How many estimates should I get?

For most medium or large projects, two or three detailed estimates are a smart range. More than that can create noise unless the scope is clearly defined.

  • Why are contractor quotes so different?

Because scope often differs even when the price sheet looks similar: one quote may include prep, protection, disposal, permits, and finish work, while another leaves those out.

  • Do contractors handle permits?

Some do, some do not, and some only do for certain project types. Always ask before work starts, especially if the job involves plumbing, electrical, structural, or layout changes.

  • What is the biggest mistake homeowners make when hiring?

Choosing based only on price without checking scope, communication, and job fit. The cheapest number can become the most expensive project if expectations are unclear.

  • How do I know if a contractor is a good fit for my project?

Look for experience with similar jobs, clear written estimates, realistic timelines, solid reviews, and direct answers about how they'll manage the work.

  • Should I expect change orders on remodeling work?

Sometimes, yes. Hidden damage, code issues, material changes, or added requests can change the scope. The important part is whether the contractor handles those changes clearly and professionally.
