Landscaping reviews in Hoboken, New Jersey

We worked with GreenCity Design last Spring to redesign our entire backyard. From the start of the process they helped us design the backyard, gave us so many great options given what we were looking for and answered all of our questions and concerns. Once we made all our final decisions, the team went to work quickly and made sure we were aligned to everything that was laid out, built, and planted. The team was amazing, so professional and friendly and did a beautiful job. We are so incredibly happy with how it turned out and have a whole new extension of our living space with a new patio, lighting, and turf. They are now back to do more work to help us maintain but the plants came back already this Spring and are looking incredible. I can't recommend GreenCity enough.

Our experience with Nick and his team was excellent from start to finish. We initially met with Nick to discuss installing turf and lighting in our backyard in downtown Jersey City. He was great at helping us decide what we wanted (we ultimately decided against any plantings to optimize playing space for our boys) and staying within our budget. Installation was smooth and even finished prior to schedule.

This was a final step in a full brownstone gut renovation and I’ll say Nick was the best communicator we dealt with in the whole project. He gave us his timeline for prep and install (less than 2 weeks) and gave daily updates while working. I’d absolutely recommend Green City for anyone looking for landscaping!

I love my garden!!!

The crew at Green City Design are fantastic to work with, very professional and highly communicative. As a landscape architect I have often relied on GCD to install my high-end landscape projects in Hoboken and Manhattan.

GreenCity Design (GCD) transformed our over exposed, sun baked 20x20, concrete slab of a yard into a luxurious, private oasis. In the process we gained privacy, year round greenery, extended the use of our garden to 10+ months /year and somehow made our little yard look bigger. Our project involved soft and hard landscaping, masonry, fireplace, a custom pergola build and install, lighting and electrical. From start to finish, GCD was the height of professionalism and delivered as promised with results that really WOW...and totally on budget. We could not have asked for a better result and can’t overstate the quality of the GCD team. GCD provides creative design which is responsive to customer objectives, a take charge approach to the planning and permitting process, an organized and methodical implementation process with exacting standards and white glove service from start to finish. For GCD the job does not end after the final invoice is paid. We had several follow up questions and needs for guidance, such as plant maintenance and an unusual caterpillar infestation - - GCD was quick to respond with patient guidance and informative advice. Would I work with GCD again? Absolutely! In fact, we are already planning to work with GCD to transform our front yard. Big job or small, you are in great hands with GCD.

Thank you Green City Design crew for making our backyard beautiful. We got a lot of complements. This team cares about quality of their work and try to accommodate all changes/adjustments that comes along the way.

They exceeded every expectation and I couldn't have imagined our backyard space coming together as well as it did. Nick and his team are very professional, client view oriented, and everything was done with quality materials and implementation. They never rushed through anything or cut corners, everything was completed in delivering top notch work.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Nick took great care to figure out exactly what we wanted and the end result was perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to give their backyard or garden a facelift.

Nick and his team did a fantastic job with our Hoboken backyard. He was creative in his approach and practical with design. He built a gorgeous fence, relocated a tree and brought in the perfect blend of shrubs and plants to our yard. His team was on time, clean and wore masks.

I had a very nice experience with Green City Design. Nick gave us great design ideas to landscape our backyard, which was completed on time and on budget. He and his crew are very professional and responsive. I highly recommend Green City Design services.

I hired Nick in the fall of 2020 for a backyard overhaul. First of all, he is the best! Communication is top notch, attention to detail/design eye is impressive and he was on time and did what he promised from the beginning! He scheduled time with me immediately to review my property. When we met, I was impressed with his knowhow and professionalism. He turned a proposal around quickly and started the project immediately. We had some time deadlines due to the approaching winter. Nick and his team worked overtime to get the project done. As the spring of 2021 approached, I didn’t hesitate to hire him for phase 2 (plant installation). Also, over the winter due to weather, there were minor things that needed to be fixed (i.e. chipped paint on the retaining wall due to the weather) I just thought I would have to pay for this since it wasn’t Nick’s fault. He took care of it no questions! Needless to say, my yard ended up so beautiful it could be in a magazine! I know this is a long review, but he is seriously worth every word. HIRE HIM AND HIS TEAM!!

We worked with Nick in summer 2020, he designed and helped us to select landscaping for our front and backyard. It looks AMAZING. I liked it right away but really came to appreciate all the thoughtful selections this summer (2021). Throughout the summer we always had something new blooming and changing. From textured grasses to native perennials around our patio and pergola, there is so much to take in. We had butterflies visiting all summer and even saw a rare hummingbird moth. I knew nothing about plants so I would have never been able to pick what he did. He totally understood the vibe I was going for too. Can't recommend enough!

Nick and his team did a phenomenal job transforming our concrete backyard that overlooked a parking lot, into a private relaxing oasis. They installed fencing, a privacy wall, turf, planters and trees. Green City Design exceeded our expectations, they were professional, knowledgable and overall great to work with. I can't recommend them enough!

The experience our family had with Green City Design was absolutely outstanding.

Green City Design completely redid our 600 foot terrace and provided a final product far exceeded our expectations. They gave us the “wow” factor we were looking for.

From start to finish, the team at Green City Design was extremely professional, courteous on time, and dependable. During their time in our home we felt comfortable and at ease due to the level of extreme professionalism and outstanding service.

From the initial quote to the starting sketch and all the way to the 3-D design the team was very accurate and detail oriented and it shows in our final product.

Anyone considering an outdoor project should have a consultation with Green city design. they do not disappoint. Once, you see the professionalism GCD brings, you will be hoping to get them on your side!

Nick completely transformed our back and front yards creating a place we want to spend all of our time. From the first meeting, Nick was consultative and helpful without being pushy and really listened to our goals. His vision was spot on from the first design specs and he executed flawlessly along the way. We trusted Nick's expertise in plant selection and the placement of decking and patio and could not be happier with the outcomes. Nick's business acumen also put us at ease. His quotes were detailed and he communicated frequently along the way. He stuck to our original expressed budget AND created final results that beat our expectations 10 fold. We couldn't be happier with Nick and would highly recommend Green City Design!!

Nick and his crew are hands down the best in the area. They overhauled the courtyard and parking lot plantings in our condo building in Jersey City Heights. I interviewed many others and none came close to the degree of professionalism and understanding of keeping our garden spaces natural and beautifully designed. The plantings have majorly upgraded our common spaces and are low maintenance with zero chemical sprays, or plastic coverings. They also put in irrigation for us and have been really helpful in making sure it's all working post-winter. I'd definitely hire them again!

We had our entire backyard re-done in Hoboken - Nick and his team were great to work with. Very creative, yet detail-oriented, patient with our many questions and flexible as we changed a few design items along the way. Also very careful as they had to go through our house with all equipment and plants etc. We highly recommend Green City Design for your garden project.

Greencity Design completely transformed our outdoor space from something completely unusable, overgrown and dangerous to our toddler, too an amazing play, dining, lounging and BBQ space! From design to execution (in the face of COVID restrictions and delays) Nick and the team were on point, communicated everyday and worked with our neighbors to ensure a respectful environment in our neighborhood.

Nick was on site 99% of the days rain, hail or shine and always available on the phone if anything came up (like the audible we pulled on him same day to reduce the retaining wall height!)

Challenges we tackled as a team. Ideas and advice always shared. Overall a great experience.

Green City Design transformed our neglected backyard into our own personal backyard getaway. Nick was there every steps of the way helping guide us through all the design decisions. Nick and his team worked effortless to deliver quality work while keeping within our budget and timeline.

Nick did an amazing job with our relatively small balcony (about 180 SF) in Hoboken. The quality of the materials he sourced was excellent and he completely understood the modern, tranquil look we were looking to achieve. He was patient with us despite our indecisiveness during the design process, and always followed-up. Would recommend GreenCity to anyone looking to spruce up their outdoor space, its a worthwhile investment!

Many wonderful things can be said about Nick and Green City Design! We had a great experience working with Nick and love the finished product. Nick listened to our goals, provided great expertise and collaborated with us to deliver a high quality, finished product that met our objectives and was within our budget. He was very easy to communicate with throughout the entire process and is a true professional. He helped us weigh different alternatives throughout the process and was always conscientious of our budget. I would highly recommend Nick and Green City Design!
