Extreme Price Gouging: Charged $2,000 for a 1.5-hour Snaking Job that Failed IMMEDIATELY. Totaled $3,500+

​I called them for a main sewer line clog. The technician gave me two options:
​Hydro-Jetting: Quoted at $3,500.
​Snaking: Quoted at a significantly lower rate, approximately $300 for the first 10ft and $175 for each additional 10ft.

​The Massive Overcharge
​We chose the snaking option, expecting a final bill well under $1,000 based on the verbal quote. The job took less than 1.5 hours, but the final invoice for the snaking was an unbelievable $2,000. This is an outrageous price for a routine residential main line snaking.
​My research shows the industry average for this service is typically $300-$600 (Source: Major industry service sites), making their final charge 4-6 times the standard cost. We feel completely taken advantage of and misled by the bait-and-switch on the initial quote.

​The Service Failure
​Compounding the problem, the $2,000 snaking was completely ineffective. The main line clogged again the very next day.
​When they returned, they insisted on the $3,500 hydro-jet service. They eventually agreed to perform the hydro-jet for an additional $1,500 (since they had already collected the $2,000).
​Our total cost for a single main sewer line clog is now over $3,500 ($2,000 + $1,500). For reference, the industry average for a combined main line cleaning and hydro-jetting service is typically under $1,500-$2,000, making their initial $3,500 quote and our final paid amount far outside the normal range.
​In summary: Jersey City Plumbing and Drain performed an emergency service that failed immediately and charged us an exorbitant, non-quoted price for the failed attempt. Avoid this company if you value fair pricing and effective service.
