Steve is outstanding. Over the years, I often admired how he established and grew this business. He and his team are now a large provider, with considerable depth. They provide high quality work, whether yard maintenance or larger irrigation or hardscaping (we would not use anyone else for these projects).

Unfortunately, the experience for those that actually look at quotes and invoices is adversely affected by incessant aggressive billing that does not always correlate to the time and materials applied to the project.

We appreciate that there are costs involved that we do not always think of as homeowners (compensation and benefits, training, fleet and equipment, insurance, maintaining inventory, guarantees on work). More broadly, we recognize that Simonfay seeks a premium for high quality.

So overall, in my experience, Simonfay is a high cost provider. The quality and team are “excellent.” It seems to me that Simonfay’s overhead and profit expectations may both be excessive. Just my opinion here.

When I moved from Manhattan to the burbs I had a long list of hesitations. One of the biggest ones was leaving behind my NYC backyard (Central Park) to owning my very own backyard. I had no idea how to care for it. All I knew was that grass should always be thick and green. Our lawn when we bought the house was not that. It was brown and patchy. After working with two landscapers that did not help the lawn or my mental state by asking questions, I knew nothing about, I found Simonfay. They turned my lawn into Central Park in a few months. I personally enjoy speaking with Lisa at their office and feel zero judgment about how little I know about lawn care. I look forward to many years under their care for my landscaping needs.
