Do NOT waste your money here; this guy does not provide the service he promises and his charges are exorbitant! We asked him to come look at possible blockage and clean the flue that discharges exhaust from the oil furnace that drives our heating system. He charged $200 just for removing and cleaning the smokepipe. I explained that we had noticed exhaust odors and were concerned that some oil burner exhaust may be escaping into the basement rather than going up through the chimney flue due to a blockage but he claimed that he could not visually spot any blockage up to a height of about 15-20 feet by looking up through the chimney flue. When I asked why he could not see any further, he said his vision was no longer the best so he could not see further up than that from the spot where he had conducted the inspection. I asked why he would not climb up to the roof to inspect - he claimed he did not bring the ladder that would allow him to do so and that climbing up was dangerous work. I asked in that case why he would did not investigate the chimney flue further up with a long brush and he said the charge for that would be another $375. After cleaning the smokepipe he held his hand against the draft regulator and claimed that he could not feel any hot air coming out from there when the furnace was turned on so the problem was fixed. I asked if he could measure the draft readings (standard procedure) to which he replied that he just checks that aspect manually.

In the midst of renovations we needed someone who could quickly come out and verify that our chimney was safe before we finished the fireplace front.
E Liverman was able to do the job within our timeframe and could confirm that out chimney was safe. We are very happy and will use him again for future maintenance.
