I just had my annual chimney cleaned, by Village Sweep, they fixed and cleaned my wood burning stove, I feel safe having them inspect my house. Reasonable and caring, long time family business.

Terrible experience. I booked a date to get the work done and they never entered me into their appointment system. Now the date is here and they aren't coming. Very unprofessional.

did not do a good job cleaning; installed a top damper but did not adjust it to seal properly - as a result, hot air was leaking out. expensive and low value. Update: the came back and adjust but still have a leak

We were having an issue with our furnace-the emergency shut off would trip. PSE&G said if it trips again call a chimney service. I called Mark Jameson and they came the very next day and was able to diagnose and remedy our problem immediately. It was a complex problem that had been on going, misdiagnosed for years, that was damaging my furnace and hot water heater. They were fast, courteous, left the work area clean and we felt taken care of. I would recommend them to friends and neighbors without hesitation.

While in the process of closing on a house, I called several chimney inspectors to come to estimate condition and cost. Village Sweep was the ONLY one who brought a ladder and went on the roof, took photos inside and around. Beyond satisfied!

On May 8, 2021 The Villlage Sweep was hired by prospective home buyers to inspect the chimney and fireplace in my Cape Cod in Bernardsville, NJ. Prior to their arrival I washed and polished the floors in my living room, dining room, kitchen and hall (this is an open floor plan and all one room) I was told that the inspection would take about an hour and the technician would need access to my chimney, and fireplace in my living room. I have no idea what they did when they were here with the prospective buyers and the representative from my realtor was sent to sit in her car.

I returned to find my living room chairs moved (I have 3 chairs left in my living room there was no reason to move anything) a candy wrapper on the floor, my basement door wide open, mud tracked through my kitchen and ALL of my gates wide open (one to come into the front yard and two to go into the back yard at opposite sides of the house) Both the house and Chimney are accessed through the front gate one of the gates has been deliberately jammed shut so my dogs can't escape. We didn't realize the unused gate was open until we found our elderly dog in the street.

While all of the above was bad, I could have let it go, EXCEPT for the gate as my dog could have been hit by a car. the condition they left my fire place was just sad and disrespectful. The technician thought it would be funny to turn my antique family heirloom andirons upside down and balance them in the fireplace against the grate on their tops. Why? I called and was only able to leave a voice mail, which was never returned. I also sent an email asking for a reason my things were left this way, again no answer. Of course the buyer's agent knows nothing, he is a local agent and this is a small town, if this kind of stuff happened with him, I am sure my agent would have heard about it.

Have been using this company for years with never a problem, until Friday when technician came to do chimney sweep and inspect chimney flue.

While inspecting chimney flue, the plastic housing for gas damper vent was ripped off of the screws from base of the chimney flue. The entire gas vent damper was left lying on the basement floor in pieces. I was not made aware of what happened until Saturday. With unseasonable cold temperatures over Memorial Day, the heat was not going on. I noticed broken damper lying behind boiler in pieces and gas damper was left in shut closed position.

Several phone calls and text messages left on Saturday to find out what happened, and if was safe to use gas boiler without have a gas vent damper in place.

No response until Tuesday when owner finally called and dispatched same Technician. Instead of replacing the broken piece, he attached the plastic housing of the gas vent damper by screwing metal cable directly in flue. He also gave a warranty for replacement of plastic housing including gas vent damper if fix does not work.

Technician admitted his error in not notifying homeowner of the property damage, and not fixing the damper when part broke off boiler. With no immediate response from owner to say ok to use furnace, and unseasonable cold temperatures in the 40s, over a long holiday weekend made the situation worse.

I had the Village Sweep inspect a chimney of a new home. I had very little experience going into the process. First, Joe gave me a good amount of information on the process beforehand. They accomdated my schedule and they did an EXTREMELY thorough job. I worked with plenty of home vendors in my time and these guys were the top most professional and respectful.

These guys are great. Its a father and son operation and the rest of the crew is amazing too. Very knowledgable, fair and most importantly honest. They came to inspect my chimney which was leaking smoke just under the roof line. They said I had 2 options 1) pay to have it relined and they had someone they could recommend or 2) they could do a new technique and glaze the inside with a new coat of cement which fills all the holes and make the inside flew perfect and smooth - this was half the price of a new liner. They did a great job. They even bought me a new cap for the fireplace because the old one was getting old and not working well. We now feel very safe burning fires again in our home. I will use them every year!

We had an excellent experience with Devin at Village Sweep. He came to clean and inspect our chimney and was extremely professional, clean, honest, and very reasonably priced. He did not try to up-sell us at all but gave us an honest opinion on what needed and did not need to be done to repair our chimney. We definitely plan to use them again in the future.

5 Fabulous Stars! What an amazing company/ family to work with! They came out to a home my nephew was purchasing and brought a ladder and climbed up to give him ACCURATE status of the chimney. The other company he called did not and missed thousands of dollars of work that had to be done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A++ job

I have been a customer since 2018 or 2019 ... long enough to say I am happy.
The pricing is also very fair. Recommended +++
