This company did not show up to the appointment made several weeks in advance because I wasn’t able to confirm the appointment the day prior. Stated they had other jobs so unless the downpayment sent two days prior was received they would not come to the appointment. Shouldn’t they make clear at the time the appointment was made that there was a deposit required for them to show up?

I just had my deck washed and repaired. It looks so much better! I also had a screen door replaced. I appreciate the great work and service. I would use this company again and recommend them!

Last August, I was moving apartments and was looking for a contractor to come touch up the wear and tear I had put my apartment through over the past year. There were various holes I had drilled into the walls to hang picture frames, etc, and i have a pet that had chewed the trip on my windowsill, and baseboard throughout my apartment. Being fresh out of college and new to the workforce, I was looking for someone to come by and fix it for cheap so that I could get my security deposit back.

Dave came by, took one look at the various needs and refused to do the work because he didn't want to charge me for his time. Instead, free of charge, Dave supplied me with the materials and showed me how to fix the damages myself. He went out of his way to make sure I had the materials to do the job and even made himself available over the phone to assist me with any questions that I had as I went about the repair process. Dave even checked back in on me a few days later to make sure that I was all set. All free of charge.

I have never met a more honest, kindhearted businessman who truly wants to help his clients. 10/10 would recommend.

I was the summit NJ bathroom renovation. I had my floor tiles replaced and my wall tiles replaced. The project took weeks longer than expected. Dave showed up to the project mid day to complete. He left all of his materials throughout the house. The original baseboards were replaced without option to replace them and were put on with damage from its original form. He blurred it out on the pictures. Tile was cut inappropriately at the entrance of the bathroom. This project took over a month to complete and then rushed at the end. Coffee table (was not part of the project) was damaged because paint was spilled. As the owner, I had to confront Dave about this spill and he was aware of the spill and never reported it to myself. Dave blamed me (I moved out for the project). Integrity is key when trusting someone to enter and exit your home, and I do not trust the honesty of modern home improvement. As a young homeowner, I felt bullied and manipulated by Dave and his wife (business partner), Julia. I was told countless times that they were losing money on the bathroom. It was completely unprofessional. As a business owner, I would never conduct business with this poor form. I will be using a new contractor to complete this project.

Dave remodeled master bathroom and kids bathroom. First of all, I would say the workman ship with the tiles is really great. For a full remodeling project, he was very meticulous with work and end result for the master bath is really great. He has some great ideas, he also listens to your ideas and suggestions. The other great thing is you can control the budget by ordering from Amazon or any other sites. In fact he suggested us to go with these sites to save money. He likes to help with any minor stuff..which usually other contractors don’t do. He worked over some weekends to finish the job. Apart from some time management, he is best contractor to hire.. I would definitely recommend.

David from modern home improvement transformed our dark and dusty unfinished basement into a beautiful bright and open space that our family now loves to spend time in. He also turned our old, unused basement bathroom into the most beautiful bathroom in the house! Given the old age of our house, this project was full of oddities and challenges, and almost every part of it needed to be customized. David delivered with such creative and thoughtful work to adapt to these challenges and make everything blend together in a tasteful way. Given the customized nature of the project David’s craftsmanship and attention to detail was instrumental to making it a success. We truly appreciate his creativity and ability to help us find the best solutions to all these challenges, all while being mindful of our budget.

It’s hard to find a contractor that provides the same level of attention and detail to contracts, both large and small, like Dave and Modern Home Improvements.

After buying and renovating the interior of our home, we still had some touch up work needing to be done and we are so thankful (and happy) Dave was available. The painting, caulking and other touch up work was top notch. Additionally, all the advice and guidance he spoke to us about regarding anything home-related was great. Our only regret was not finding him to do our initial interior reno!

We hired Modern Home Improvements to fix problems we discovered in the home we purchased that had been flipped by another contractor. We found David to be refreshingly upfront - other contractors had recommended making certain changes and improvements and David helped us to determine what was truly necessary, understanding that we were on a tight budget. David did renovations to improve my kitchen layout/cabinets/backsplash, electrical work, painting, plumbing, and a number of other jobs. We are really happy with the end results of everything. The one downside was that the work took longer than expected, however this is because I kept adding things to the work order and because David and his team are perfectionists and make sure to take the time to do the job right, rather than rushing through it. David and his team also encountered work that was done poorly by the previous contractors and went above and beyond to fix it - including bad electrical wiring. We had no idea that this problem even existed so we really appreciated that David told us about it and took the time to fix it. At one point, David was not satisfied with the way a paint job came out and took an extra day to redo it himself, even though I hadn't noticed anything wrong with it! We really appreciated the attention to detail. It's also rare to find a contractor that you can trust to leave alone in your home (with pets too). Modern Home Improvements is also really easy to communicate with about pricing and availability, something that is rare for these types of companies these days. We will definitely be repeat customers.

We hired Dave and Modern Home to repair our family room which was severely damaged due to a water leak. The quality of his work combined with the reliability of his schedule makes it very easy to highly recommend Dave and Modern. I'm not looking for home repair issues in the future but if they occur Modern Home will be first on my list to handle them. Last but not least Dave is a pleasure to speak with, he is the type of person you feel comfortable leaving in your home alone working, just a nice person.

Modern Home Improvements did a tremendous job remodeling our bathroom. Throughout the process, David was very communicative and reliable which we greatly appreciated. He is extremely knowledgable in this field and it shows in his work. He has great attention to detail and is focused on taking time to do things the right way. It was a pleasure working with David, he is very profressional and personable. We are very pleased with the work carried out and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor in the local area. We look forward to working with him again on other projects in the future!

Despite a few glitches, David took beyond extremely amazing care of this project. We just moved into Madison and we needed a door, and the door is beyond perfect. It is by far the best door in the house! We would definitely call him in again and recommend him to people in the area.
