Ed o hara is one of the most inexperienced trade professionals I have ever met in my life. His receptionists are poorly trained and very rude which leads me to believe Ed hasn't trained them properly and is inexperienced when it comes to human resource management. I hope he sees this and responds I would lovetl to talk to him about the exact details of what happened. However, I will probably just have to talk to another rude receptionist. I do not recommend using him for anything. I want you to respond to this message Ed.

They've done a few things for me (chandelier, fixing a plug, some other stuff). Good pricing, good people. They're my electrician. Will be calling them for a couple more things soon. Great receptionist; very friendly.

E&M O'Hara Electric does an outstanding job. Not only are they quick to respond, but they are fair priced and understand my needs. The tech is friendly, knowledgeable and works efficiently!!! I would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done.

We have been using O’Hara Electric for many years; replacing outlets, problem switches and installing fixtures, both indoors and outdoors, in our century old house. Always 100 % satisfied with their work and the electricians who come to our home. They are always courteous and will explain what the issue is.

Jesse and his helper were on time and respected my client’s property. When questions arose about the job, he called and confirmed the details. When I returned to inspect, all of the work was tight and clean. They even patched their holes with some gear I had laying around the job. A+. Thanks guys.

Good workmanship but be ready to overpay. They sent two guys which i didn't expect (doubles the rate!), Danny told me I will be only charged $114 for both guys for first hour and then in thirty minutes incremental for both which I agreed. Whole job was finished in one and half hour but final bill showed i owe for both guys for one and half hour. So, they didn't tell me two guys will come so rate will be $200 +per hour. So be aware if you call them, rate is not $114 per hour as they tell you on phone.

Came to check out a circuit breaker that tripped a couple of times. After doing a thorough checking of other possibilities he replaced the circuit and everything seems fine. So pleasant, professional and great to work with. We've used O'Hara before and we love them.

Rude and unprofessional. Didn’t even let me explain the scope of work. Cut me off mid sentence and said “not interested”. Customer beware!

We have now used E&M O'Hara twice and both times the service and work was outstanding. The guys arrived on time and did a wonderful job repairing outlets and installing flood lights. Very professional work. We'll be calling them again for a 3rd job.

We needed a lot of things done: replacing several light fixtures in the basement, adding several electrical outlets in the basement, adding an outdoor outlet, and adding an outlet to our dining room. From our first phone call to ask for an estimate, to the visit by someone to give an estimate, to the actual work being done, we were very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of everyone involved. It’s always scary to me to have any work done in an older home, especially adding outlets where none existed, so it was with trepidation that we had the work done, Now, I’m thrilled to finally have the electrical outlets we needed, and everything went smoothly. Great work!

Was surprised how poor my experience was, given the recs on here. We had three jobs we needed to accomplish, one simple, two more complicated. Two electricians came but weren't able to locate the source of two of the issues; they tried changing one plug, but it didn't fix the problem, and looked into rewiring another lightswitch, but couldn't figure out how to do it, establishing that both would be bigger jobs that would require coming back, which I totally understood. But I ended up getting a $380 bill for this visit, in which one outdoor light was installed, and the other two issues weren't resolved (besides this plug installation that didn't fix the problem.) A return visit would be $480 *more* dollars.

I called and explained why I wasn't that happy with paying $380 for what amounted to a visit mostly to give a followup estimate, and rather than address my dissatisfaction or attempt to work with me on a return appointment, they argued with me over why they had actually done $380 worth of work, even though, again, none of the three issues I'd called about were resolved. He agreed to adjust the price to $340, which I still thought was high, but paid just to be done with it. A really, really disappointing experience with a company that I was looking forward to working with.

UPDATE 6/11: Had another electrician come out and they fixed our front lights and installed another motion sensor light for $185 total in one visit, and didn't need additional materials (O'Hara's estimate was much higher.)

Also, in response to O'Hara's comment below, my wife was hospitalized in December 2023 for a full month and we had a newborn baby who was then also in the hospital; after we returned and were safe I responded about their invoice (thinking the $380 had to be the follow-up estimate, not the charge for replacing one plug and one motion sensor light), and once the confusion was cleared up I promptly paid them to be done with it. I do appreciate their attempt to make me look like an unreliable customer who paid late, though.

O'Hara Electric was great! They were very responsive and came out and gave us a very fair quote. They even wrote a letter on behalf of us to our township to ensure we are in compliance. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between my business partner and myself, and we were unable to complete the job with them. O'Hara was nothing but professional and exemplary. We greatly appreciate their time ( which they did not charge us for). We regret how things ended and that lies on us. Our apologies to them.

We went in person to pay a bill & to pick up an estimate that we needed for future work. Stephanie & Jim both very friendly. All the workers we've had at our houses have been nice & kept the work area clean. This is our always go to electricians! They've treated us well & worked around our schedules.

Two young men (Jesse and Xavier) came to my home to look at 4 specific issues. They were polite, courteous, and answered all my questions for me with patience and clarity. They arrived on time as well. It is so rare these days to encounter such professionalism and respectfulness. Thank you!

The guys from O’Hara came to our house to give us an estimate. They showed up on time and were very professional and honest. A few weeks later when they came by to do the work they showed up exactly when they said they would and performed the worked just under the estimated time they said it would take. They even took it upon themselves to button up a couple of things in my basement that needed attention at no extra charge. They are a fantastic company and if we need electrical work again we will call them to do it. Great experience and we highly recommend A++

    Absolutely unacceptable.
This was my third time using them, and it will be my last.
I had a scheduled appointment for this morning and called to confirm. I was told there were emergencies — fine. After that, no one followed up.
I waited two hours, then called again. I was told the electrician should be there later that afternoon. By then, it was already 12:30 PM, and I had been waiting all morning. I explained that I needed to step out and get my kids and expected a call back since no ETA could be provided.
An hour later, they called and said the electrician would arrive within the hour. I said that was fine and explained that it was a simple doorbell camera installation, and that I would be picking up my kids but would be back within that same hour.
Despite that, I was then told the electrician was suddenly unavailable.
After waiting the entire morning and making multiple follow-up calls, I asked to be scheduled first thing tomorrow to make up for the lost time. I was dismissed and told that he couldn’t, but “he’ll call you back whenever he can.” I said the appointment needed to be rescheduled because I needed this completed. Again, I was dismissed and told the electrician would call me back when he could.
When I said this would be the last time I used them, instead of attempting to rectify the issue, I was met with, “Okay, that’s fine.”
They act entitled, lack professional courtesy, and treat customers as if our time doesn’t matter.
Don’t ever assume that just because you’ve been in business for a long time, you can treat people this way.
You’re only as good as your customers, don’t EVER forget that.

Fantastic electrician. Especially good with older homes and gnarly vintage electrical systems. Extremely knowledgable and professional.

When overloads tripped, they balanced the circuits and replaced faulty breakers. No more unexpected outages. Their expertise saved me from repeated frustrations.

We've used Barry Cohen for years as an electrician and have always been very happy with his service, helpfulness, and friendliness. Today we had a circuit breaker problem that prevented us from using our garage door opener and despite being on an all-day job, he talked us through it in 10 minutes on the phone and got us squared away. He's great!
