Constraction reviews in Cedar Crest, New Mexico

Avoid at all costs. We paid for a new sewage line, but he claimed it was working fine and didn’t need replacement. Now, we're out of our money with nothing to show for it.

Great work, but a little pricey. Wish I got an estimate ahead of time, but the workers are friendly and professional. They fit us in on our schedule quickly for a leak.

We ordered our own tank and they let us ship it to their business yard as they wouldn’t deliver to a residence. They hauled it up to us, did the plumbing and electrical work and got the job done quickly, efficiently and in only a couple of days. Highly recommend Rick and his crew!! They also put in tanks for two other neighbors.
Merry Christmas we’re so grateful for WATER!! -
Rick appears to be a greedy individual who knows everything, however knows nothing about construction. I simply asked him to check and correct the plumbing install on my mobile home to make sure it was MHD compliant. He started picking on my greenhouse watering system saying that was not to code and I wasn't permitted to build and run greenhouses. I called the MHD and they assured me I was fine. I told him, " We were not doing anything illegal and I just want my mobile home to code and to please do it the most economically feasible way to correct the issue". He apparently did not like that statement and he actually called the state on me. I was visited by the chief inspector Rodriguez of CID to verify my permitting. After showing the proper paperwork I was absolved. This man is not looking out for your best interests, just looking to get your money, especially if you don't agree with him on extra work that he feels you need.

These guys have been SO patient with me and trying to rehabilitate the somewhat janky DIY sprinkler system I inherited. Even when I had a "Doh!" moment, they were pros and wanted to make sure I was satisfied.

They were hired by the sellers of our new home to fix some plumbing we found before purchasing the home. Upon inspection a leak was found. 2 days after we moved in they came to fix the leak. They had to cut and take out drywall from a neighboring bathroom to fix the leak in the master bathroom. Several days later while doing laundry we had raw sewage coming up in our showers. We called the septic company who found chunks of drywall clogging our pipe. They flushed it out only for it to happen again the next day. I reached out to discuss this as they were the only ones to have access to pieces of drywall that THEY removed. Rick the owner was very rude and tried to blame it on everyone else and refused to cover the costs of 2 emergency pumps. Even the pumping companies we used said they have had several incidents of things like this following work by this company and would not recommend them. We are new to the area and have encountered such great customer service until this. Please go elsewhere for your plumbing needs! Trust me, it will cost you much more in the long run with this company taking no accountability! Shameful!

Initially got the impression owner knows very little about plumbing or electrical. All I can figure is he has a few good workers that know what they're doing. Sure enough, the owner, Rick Howe, ends up billing us for work that was not performed. When I refused to pay the extra amount, he threatened a lien against our property and a lawsuit! Turns out we weren't the only ones he's done this to. Rick Howe has a long history in the New Mexico court system. Don't take my word for it- look him up. I suspect there aren't more reviews like this because he threatens to sue everyone!
If you've had a similar experience, file a complaint with the NM Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. Only way this crook will be put behind bars. My wife and I never would have let this guy on our property if we knew his background. You've been warned. -
Rick was very responsive his crew was hard working and very knowledgeable. I needed a good electrical Co. To install new service for my Mobile Home, i called talked to a nice lady in office, she said Rick was on other line and will call you back, in minutes Rick called and we set up a meeting date to look at my property he informed me that he could also do the gas line. Rick informed me that they are on another job but would get to me soon as they could. To my surprise Rick called back and said they could be at my property next day my gas line was install about 150 ft from home pressure tested great job. Electrical box installed professionally on side of my mobile Home it looks great and professional. Thanks Turquoise Trail very happy with the work performed

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. OVERCHARGED.
Called the and asked what does it cost to install a ball valve for my boiler. The lady said they charge $130 a hour plus parts. Said okay and scheduled a appointment. When they came in the morning 2 guys showed up. They came in and took a look for 5 minutes and left because they said they need to get the material. Hour and half goes by and they came back. (Their business is about 5 minutes from my house) They did the job installing the ball valve but it was sloppy work. They stuck around for over a hour because they said they need to get air out of the boiler for a hour. Had to call Rick because they believe more air was still in there. So they left and about 30 minutes later Rick shows up and said everything is fine. Later that evening right before they closed I got the invoice. They charged me for 2 people and 4 hours of labor when they were there for 2 hours. Called the next day and asked about the invoice and felt I should have been aware they charge a person showing up. For all I know they could have 4 guys show up and get charged that. I calmly asked Rick questions about the bill and he immediately was raising his voice and was angry and didn’t give me a chance to talk. He gave his spiel and hung up on me. I tried calling back and now they won’t answer my calls. Tried using my wife’s phone and they picked up. I filed a complaint with NM office of the attorney general about their business practices. So avoid at all cost and save the headache. I’ve learned the owner is very familiar with the courts about people suing him and his business. They are not a honest company. Sleazy business practices. 11/22/2022 -
We've had Brian and Kevin to the house several times for various repairs. The latest was our water heater break down. They rescheduled their day and had a replacement installed in half a day. Tourquoise Trail has provided us with exception customer care for close to two years now.

Turquoise Trail did an outstanding job for us. We had a gas leak that was the fault of another company who did the original work on our home. Turquoise Trail was out to our house within less than an hour and coordinated with the gas company immediately. They were on top of every detail including the most important one making sure our home was safe. They got the repairs done in a timely manner and their workmanship was of the highest quality. I give them the best possible rating. The owner Rick is responsive and knows his job thoroughly. Do not hesitate to call them they are the best!

Worst service available. Had to have another electrician come in and fix there work, they were also rude to my wife during this service.

Can’t say enough good things about Rick and his staff. Always so helpful and responsive. Highly recommend.

Avoid at all costs!!!! I'm in the process of buying our new home Rick was recommended thru the company who we're buying our home from when we first met with him he gave us reasonable affordable prices but when he sent the price quote on paper it was sufficient higher way over priced when we asked him simple questions he was angry and had attitude in the way he was talking to us he was very unprofessional and very bad customer service we did some calling around to look for someone else n found out he was way over pricing and even other contractors said he's the worst in the business and to avoid at all cost my advice to others who are thinking of going with him DON'T it'll save you in the long run just look at all these terrible reviews

We had an issue with the home that we bought and the seller called turquoise trail to have them come out because there is a leak in our insulation from the house that we just bought in May 2025 they said that they would contact us before coming to the house. They never contacted my wife upon arrival and ended up inspecting a different house down the road

They came and installed a new A/C unit on our new home and did a beautiful job ! We had two crews, one to install the unit and another crew to do the electrical and they all were very friendly, knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Very satisfied with this company. Thank you to all staff of Turquoise Trail !

This company is top notch! Rick's crew came out and installed new service to my house. They were on time, professional, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend and will be hiring them again!

Unfortunately, this company charged ~$7K for a simple, standard ~$3-4K submergible water pump replacement. Among other sad issues, the signed estimate was based on a 600ft depth when indeed the depth was 100 ft. They did not send the bill to the away owner but to the tenet who naively paid it. The owner, not the tenet is responsible for the work. Furthermore, video evidence showed only ~3-4 hours of actual work when 14 hours at ~$220/hour was billed. When directly asked by the owner of the well to send the bill to him, the belligerent owner of the company, rapidly cashed the tenet's check. He would not even explain the charges and highly inflated parts when politely asked. Also, this owner was sadly aggressive and refused to discuss the matter in a civil and fair way. Other local, respected contractors later warned me, the land owner, of this unethical contractor. The case is still under review in small claims court. Finally, it is not about the grossly inflated cost, but the principle of the matter - civility and fraud.
As 77 years old native and a local cattle rancher, I deeply support local businesses. I have never gone to court about anything. I have never before written a bad review. I wish that this never happened. Please beware and hope they change their ways. -
I worked with Rick for a new home setup from the beginning. At first, upon seeing all the negative reviews and a small misunderstanding at the beginning, I was a little weary to move forward. Hooking up electric, water, water softener & RO, and new septic is a huge expense and want it done correctly and without unannounced bills. Yes, it was expensive. I got a few other quotes on some of the pieces and they were very comparable and I'd prefer to work with a single vendor. Rick would call ME saying he just went by the land and saw xyz happening; he was on top of things and ready to go whenever the house was ready for his team to start. His team(s) worked quickly and efficiently. He answered my call or called me back right away no matter what. Never once tried to raise the price on me, in fact honored his original quote on one of the items that he hadn't listed tax on, all on his own accord. I can only speak on my own experience but can't imagine being kind to Rick and being immediately met with hostility as some reviews have claimed.

Give your money to another business. This company came and fixed some leaks and issues at my house less than 2 months ago, atleast one is still leaking. They will not answer the phone or call me back. Poor quality of work and poor customer service. Money better spent somewhere else. (Edit) I found the leak, they didnt even fix or fit the pipe under my sink. They left a pipe loose and not sealed just flowing water into the pipe below it. So if I drain the sink it backs up and overflows out of the lower pipe which is not connected. Luckily for them I cannot post pictures or videos. Horrible craftsmanship with this "business" of hacks.
