On the first contact with Joe, he presents as a likeable and knowlegeable HVAC specialist. He will get your furnace working and provide suggestions for proper long-term care.

In fact, you will want to build a professional relationship with Joe --the guy you call or can refer when there is a HVAC issue.

However, on the second contact with Joe, for a similar issue on a different floor in the house, one quickly notices that now, Joe is charging 2 to 3xs more than the average cost for basic fixes such as filter replacement and tune-up.

For example, Joe charged me $1,675 to change my filter on the furnace--he explained that the charge was because he had to go out of his way (3 hrs)to find the specific filter.

I was stunned at the figure, yet I accepted what Joe charged. Minutes later, as I looked at the extra filter he left for me, I realized that Joe had not replaced any other parts on the furnace other than this square netted component (the filter). I then asked Joe to refund some of the charge. Joe refused--asserting that his hourly rate is $325.

Big take away here: Don't rely solely on a positive past encounter --be careful and diligent -- get an itemized estimate of the cost of the job. Also, learn to haggle a bit on price.

Amazing quality service. After a few years of mediocre service from other companies, I found JSM and was immediately impressed. JSM did the job and did the job beyond my expectations. Had two emergencies at once on a freezing cold Sunday night. Joe came over and unclogged a stubborn main line blockage and trouble shot a boiler issue. He set up a temporary solution to make it through the night with heat and came back the next day with a solid plan for repair. If you like fast, honest, clean, and fair, JSM is for you.

Joe was great. Came over in an emergency situation and got the boiler working. He spent tons of time researching the issue and my specific boiler to diagnose the problem and fix it. Fair, honest, and knowledgeable. Really helped us out in a pinch.

Joe, Milton and their crew are AMAZING!!!!! Started the work right away for a very good price and did exactly what we were looking for (velocity air cooling and heating), and this was not an easy job in our 100 year old Tudor house. Such hard workers and kept us in the loop every step of the way. They finished the very difficult job in the time promised and the work was done expertly and with the utmost care with prompt service and great communication!!! We are so thankful to these guys and cannot recommend them enough!! This job was not an easy one and they did an epic job!!!! We have had awesome experiences with Joseph and highly recommend him. He dealt with a serious (and disgusting) plumbing emergency at our place - he came right away, got to it and fixed the massive systemic issue. We then had him come take care of our air conditioning units in the home to get ready for summer. They hadn’t been dealt with in a long time and were running super inefficiently - all good now! :)

Joe came to our rescue when our boiler went. It was over the Christmas holidays but he got there fast, fixed the issue and helped with cleanup. Really went above and beyond!

Lost heating at our home when temperature dipped down to the teens over Sunday. Found Joe through the NextDoor app. He came within 20 minutes on Sunday morning, accurately diagnosed the problem. The relay circuit board needed to be replaced. We needed it right away because if we did not, there was a good chance that our pipes would freeze overnight without heat. Joe knew a supply store in Brooklyn that had the part. I offered to drive and pick it up. I went to pick it up while Joe went to other appointments. Once I came back with the part, Joe came back and installed the circuit board. Ultra- focused and professional. We turned the power back on and our boiler was firing again. Even though we lost heat at the worst possible time, Joe came through. If he didn’t know that supply place that was open on Sunday that had the part, it could have been real bad. Joe saved the day.
