We have been using John Lock for many years. They have always been competent, but in the last several visits we have been VERY impressed. In May, Technician Rich quickly came to troubleshoot an AC problem. He found that the AC disconnect had melted. He efficiently fixed that problem, but took the extra steps to change the furnace filter and he checked the circuit breaker box to ensure that there wasn’t a loose connection or that there was not a bigger problem with the circuit. Excellent job!
Last week, during another heat wave, the AC quit again. John Lock sent out Technician Brennan and HVAC apprentice Matt. They found some of the wires near the capacitor had melted and shorted out the system. They again worked to quickly fix the problem and showed genuine concern for our family (possible fire risk etc.). They also did a great job.
We had been talking about a new furnace and AC since they had both been installed in 1998. The furnace was a regular efficiency and, given the house is 98 years old, has less than perfect insulation, window seals, etc.
We spoke with Mike and Chris in the office to discuss options about new furnace and/or AC unit. They patiently answered all our questions about the different options. Our family discussed the issues and decided to upgrade to a new high-efficiency, 2-stage, variable speed furnace and a new AC unit.
We were scheduled within a week. The installation crew of Paul, Paul, and Cody were very professional and freely answered our (many) questions. The 2-day installation went smoothly. At the end of the first day, the AC was fully functional and the new furnace unit was installed. The second day they completed the flue lining and the new duct/vent work required by high-efficiency furnaces. They left the work areas clean when they finished.
All in all, our family has been very satisfied with John Lock and will continue to use and recommend this company for our HVAC needs.
