Landscaping reviews in Webster, New York
-
I scheduled a Job with Thomas Landscape around 4 months ago. None of the job has been completed. They are impossible to reach on the phone to get answers on when the job will start. It got to the point where I was frustrated with the lack of communication so I expressed that to them. Tony one of the workers who claims he is going to own the company soon told me he wants to cancel the job because I was frustrated with the lack of communication. This seems like a reasonable request from someone who is spendings 4000 dollars with a company to atleast receive a phone call in under a couple weeks. The lack of professionalism from Tony who says he is going to be the owner was mind blowing to me. I will never go back to this place and i hope no one else deals with these issues with them.

Surprised to see the negative reviews as we just had a whole lot of work done to our property and our experience was really wonderful. We had our entire front landscaping redesigned and installed including a new walkway with pavers, a brand new irrigation system, and landscape lighting. Tony and his team did a phenomenal job. Tony made numerous suggestions about the color of the pavers and mulch, and the lighting system and we were initially skeptical, but all of his suggestions ended up being perfect! We have already received numerous compliments on the new landscaping and we are really happy with it.

Thomas Landscape & Design replaced a walkway, patio and retaining wall as well as bushes and trees for us. We had to wait due to supply chain shortages and weather, but it was well worth it. The Cambridge pavers and all of the plants they helped us choose have changed the look of our whole house. The staff worked very hard, took time to explain what they were doing each day and cleaned up at the end of every day. We had explored other options and are very happy we chose Thomas Landscaping.

This is the second year in a row that I have gone to Thomas Landscape to purchase my mulch and I have been very happy with the service. I've gone into the store several times this Spring because I can only get a certain number of bags in my vehicle at a time, and each time everyone is just as friendly and helpful as the last visit. I purchased a few annuals the last time I was in and they were priced very well and seem to be be very healthy. I will continue going to Thomas' for my gardening needs.

Great selection and availability for bulk materials, best black mulch around and as a landscape contractor I won't use any other mulch. Most of all other companies and garden centers' mulch has inferior dyes and processes that wash out quickly but not Thomas!

Thomas Landscaping was doing a good job with my very experience landscape project, that is up until I trusted them to complete the last phase of the project. I trusted them to complete the laying of sod without my being present. That was a big mistake. The sod was not placed to specifications and according to the contract agreement. My property boundaries where clearly marked however sod was not placed up to the boundaries. I have been unsuccessful in getting them to return to my property and make the necessary repairs. Very disappointing. I will not have this company return for winterization of my sprinkler system even though it is still under warranty. Nor will I continue with there annual lawn maintenance service. I need to feel that a company has my best interest as well as my trust. That I did not have with Thomas Landscaping. So sad!

Thomas's Landscaping has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Owner's daughter openly accused me of not paying for work completed last year in front of other customers. I went to the store to question the bill as it was twice the written quote I had in hand. She called over another worked to help me understand the document. I understood it perfectly. This is the second year I used them to lay mulch. NEVER again. Who would do business with a customer that "cheated" their business. Anywhere else is where you should go. Business should go under due to lack of professionalism.

I started a landscape project a month ago and got way over my head. I reached out to Thomas Landscape and got a free estimate on what I needed done. They were very competitive on pricing. I decided to give them a shot. I needed shrubs planted, 25 yards of mulch and a small walkway installed. The workers came out and did a great job. The little mess they left on the property, they cleaned up on completion. Dick was on site to answer any questions I had throughout the course of the job. I would recommend these guys whether it be a small job or big. Dick was on site to ensure his staff were thorough with each process. They did great work and I would recommend using Thomas landscape.

We've worked with Thomas for a few years now to do our mulching, trimming and edging at the house and overall felt pretty good about them. With that said we hired them to do a larger project this spring to clear an area to make room for our new pool. We signed the contract and didn't hear much from them so we continued to follow up. We called until they set a date to start the work and the day that they were supposed to arrive they no showed. When I reached out to them they explained that they would be out the following day (which at this point was three days before the digging for the pool was starting). The following day they no showed again. When I called to ask what was going on the owner relayed through his receptionist that they would no longer be doing the work. He wouldn't even get on the phone to explain himself. His reason? He saw some poison ivy in the area they were clearing. This is coming from someone who has worked on our property for a series of years. There was nothing different in that space at the time the work was to be done than there had been for the three or four years they'd been out here. Ultimately we were left with no options whatsoever to clear out this area in time for digging to begin so we had to cancel the pool dig. We now have wasted over a month lining up a new contractor and the project has been thrown completely sideways from a timeline perspective. If something changed and for some reason they decided not to do the work the least that they could have done was proactively communicate that in a way that showed some shred of consideration for our time and project. As a long term customer I was completely insulted by the lack of respect shown to us by Thomas. We will never work with them again.

Unfortunately, I had not seen the reviews here before I decided to try Thomas Landscape out. Our experience was not great either....they did not deliver on the day they arranged claiming they could not get through to my phone. They delivered firewood which (a) was not the full 4 face cords they were paid for, and (b) the wood was sopping wet (with ice on many pieces) and filthy with mud. Just recently moved to Rochester and guess that's what one gets so late in the season, although I was assured when I called that the wood had been seasoned for a year. Certainly not doing business with Thomas Landscaping again and would warn anybody else to stay away from them.

Thomas landscaping was delivering 5 yards of topsoil for us for landscaping projects. We called the Thomas Landscaping office two days before to request it be dumped in our driveway turnaround. We asked if the spot needed to be marked and they said no, a note would be made on the order. Not only did they not dump it in the turn around, they dumped it in the middle of our driveway blocking most of our driveway so that we can’t even get both our cars in our driveway. We planned to use this topsoil over the next weeks/months for various projects but now we are forced to try and quickly move 5 yards of topsoil (with a baby due any day) so we can use our driveway. After two calls on Thursday to the office in which the staff was very rude, we were basically told “well what do you want us to do about it now?” We will not be using this company again in the future.
The office staff also said they would pass along what happened to the management who would follow up to see what could be done and we never received any call as of Monday (5 days later) -
Wonderful experience! Delivered my mulch on time. Driver was very courteous and respectful of my property. Customer service was very friendly and helped me figure out the proper measurements for my mulch delivery.

Have used Thomas for years with spring mulch. First time we used them for landscaping on two jobs. Both were done well and in a timely fashion. Richard was responsive to questions and to a slight change in one project. His workers were friendly and easy to have on our property for several days. Had gotten several quotes. Thomas was in the middle and seemed most knowledgeable and responsive. Thank you.

Moved to the area almost a year ago now and have used Thomas Landscaping for all my summer yard rehab projects. They have been very helpful with picking out plants that will work and look best in what I have to work with. The prices are also very reasonable as well which is always a bonus. The staff was also very friendly and responsive towards my needs and questions. Would highly recommend and will be using them for all the seasons to come!!

Went to purchase some loose stone / gravel for a patio project. Not having any idea of how much to purchase leaned on their expertise after giving them the area (LxWxH). The very nice individuals at the company said I needed two cubic yards. After talking to them and before purchasing I searched on the internet and found out, using the same measurements, that I required one cubic yard.
Going back to order I asked them why they thought I needed 2 cubic yards and was told "online must be using a different calculation and the calculation we use is how the owner has been doing it for many years". They seemed turned off by my questioning. As they were the experts I compromised and went with 1.5 yards.
1.5 yards has turned one project into 3 (ended up spending many hours using the stone in other unplanned areas) and I still have stone left over!! 1 cubic yard would have been perfect and they recommended double!
The staff was kind and friendly but they were either looking to oversell me for more money or have a very poor formula for calculating how much one needs. Use one of the many online calculators to figure out your landscaping needs instead of having them calculate it for you to save time and money. -
T Landscaping is where it's at! We absolutely adore the front staff and the owner in general! They are very accommodating, personable, and outright amazing! We had one issue (problem provided by one of their vendors), which when we reached out to their staff, they immediately escalated it right into the hands of the owner, who addressed it quickly and effectively! Any time we need any landscape products- and we are within 20 minutes of - we go directly there.

Spent a lot of money with them in the past. Tony Zucco (vice president) came over to give me a estimate on 4/3 instead of Richard Thomas who I had the appointment with to give me a estimate. Estimate for topsoil, spreading it, plantings, lawn fertilizer etc. Spent a hour of my time. Yada yada yada. All big talk. He didn’t seem to have any suggestions or a clue. He said he’d text or email me a estimate. Ha. He has all my contact info. Guess what? Close you eyes what do you see! Nutin. Not even a phone call saying he/ they don’t want a $2500+ dollar job. Maybe to big or extreme or to too much work for their guys. Will never recommend them or do business with them again. Go elsewhere. Idiots

Don’t go with them! The first year we tried to get a quote on landscaping design, and we had an appointment set up. They showed up when it was convenient for them, not during the appointment. And we had another landscaper here at the time, and they “pushed” their way into the appointment and scared off the other guy. Then we hired them for just putting in mulch in our front bed. It was sloppy and thin. This year we had them just deliver the mulch for us, so we could do it, and they delivered the wrong color. The truck guy, said he noticed it was different, but though we had changed our mind. We called to complain, because we wanted the correct color, and they made it sound like it was our fault. They kept blaming us, they said they delivered what we told them and what was on the quote from last year. But we wanted what we actually got delivered last year. After a long time of going back and forth on it, we finally said fine, what will it cost to have them pick up the mulch and deliver the correct one. They said $20! $20!!!! All that over such a small fee, and now they are losing a customer, and as many people as we can tell not to go to them. So we said fine, put it on our bill. Well a week went by and they didn't deliver our mulch...they came to pick it up. So we called and they said we had to pay for the fee first, instead of them billing us. And they said that we would have to wait 2 weeks for an opening for them to deliver it to us. We complained again, as it wasn't our fault, why should we have to go on the bottom of the list. Plus, we had already lost our planned time last weekend to pt it in ourselves. After a lot of fighting, they finally delivered it to us. They are RUDE, don’t care about the customer, and sloppy!

We had our front porch steps redone with pavers, a new walkway installed and a patio added to tie it all in. Heather was wonderful, Tony is a true professional and the young men that assisted with the project were hardworking, courteous....can't say enough about everyone involved! Tony was very creative (not to mention patient as we kept adding to what we wanted done!) Heather assured me it would look amazing and it absolutely is that and more!

Extremely poor customer service by lying, yelling at customers, grossly disrespectful, mocks customers and would only give vague responses. When there are questions/problems Richard disappears and Heather will yell at you, be disrespectful, and mock you in front of customers & employees. Richard built up a good business & Heather ( President ) is tearing it down! Been a customer for years and never saw things this bad. Material available at two other locations in town & I offered to buy the material for delivery in 5 days. Heather refused to work this way, and told me it would take 2 weeks to get my check back due to the accountant. Richard told her to return the deposit today, she printed it at the front desk & I picked it up but had to endure additional disrespectful yelling.

Great customer service! I needed a truckload of rock delivered quickly for a last minute patio project we were able to squeeze in with our contractor. I called Thomas and was able to get it delivered within 24 hours. The product was just what I wanted and even the delivery person was friendly and polite. Thanks for going the extra mile even for a small customer order like this- it really makes a difference!
