Phil N. Great is our reliable HVAC service provider and I am so glad I found them based on other stellar recommendations. Tyler has been our faithful technician and always helps us with honest maintenance checks and issues. We had a piece in our heating unit fail in January when it was freezing and he and team got us the part quickly and installed in a day. Denise is wonderful to work with regarding scheduling and invoicing. Catlin also helped us out on a bigger project. I have great trust in them because they aim to fix the units and get them running as long as possible instead of just trying to install new units for thousands of dollars like the other big companies. I highly recommend Phil N. Great and they will have you feelin great in no time :-)

For the past 8-10 months we have been dealing with an issue on one of our systems. Our old service provider had been trying to diagnose and solve this issue along with about $8,000 of repair work/guess work that proved to be completely ineffective. I finally decided to ask my friends for a recommendation and they ALL overwhelmingly recommended Phil N. Great. Because our issue was very inconsistent it was very difficult to predict when to call them out to take a look….but that’s exactly what I did and they were able to come within a few hours. Not only that, but the owner Catlin came with Tyler and spent 3 hours here trying to solve our issue - which they did! I can’t tell you how much time, frustration, and money we have wasted this past year on this unit. If you are even thinking about switching up your service provider then think no more - Phil N. Great is absolutely fabulous! They know their way around the most complicated systems, provide top notch service, offer extremely fair pricing and are a true delight to work with. Quick schedule to replace my upstairs heat pump. Install team were careful on removal and installation of inside unit from a very tight attic space. Tracked down a leak in refrigerant line that was caused by previous construction work. One glitch after system was running for an hour or so, but follow-up very prompt within the hour to correct. System is running well. Overall good job and good service.

Elias and his team were very professional and installed the entire downstairs AC/furnace in my house within about 4 hours. They answered several questions about my system and the upstairs one as well, which I just wanted checked out, and didn't try to upsell me anything. The entire install price was FAR better than 2 other quotes I received, as well.

The owner came out himself to get my heat pump working again. He was courteous, attentive, and very knowledgeable. The condensate line was the issue, and he had it corrected within about half an hour. This company guarantees their work and materials for two years, so the repair was free.

Bill with Phil and Great was extremely knowledgeable and timely when servicing our older HVAC. He provided excellent information about our system and was able to get us up and running during peak season. We’ve used Phil and Great at a previous house and their pricing and service is always transparent, honesty, and fair.

Phil N Great has been fantastic to work with. They gave me a great price when I had to replace one of my units a few years back and have been responsive and easy to work with on regular maintenance and any other issues that I've had with my system.

I called with an A/C issue and was genuinely impressed that they were able to come out the same day. From the moment Tyler arrived, I felt reassured — he took my concerns seriously and quickly confirmed that there really was an issue with the system even though the temperature was okay.

Tyler diagnosed the problem efficiently and explained everything clearly. He was professional, fast, and truly customer-focused. I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again or recommend them to anyone needing HVAC help.

Catlin was recommended by a friend and I could not be happier with the service. We replaced both of our units about 6 years ago and had maintenance through the installing company. But every summer one of the units would fail and require a few hundred dollars of work. When it happened again this summer we had Phil N Great come out and they fixed a couple of small, silly things that have our system running better than ever. This was a few days after we paid a lot of money to “fix” the issue with a national company.

Also their prices are 80% cheaper than what I had to pay with the other company. When I called to complain to the other national company, they simply said that they could not compete with the prices. They refunded some of the difference but they couldn’t make up the whole difference. Seemed odd to me that the small guy out-priced the national guy, by a lot.

I called Phil N. Great in the morning and had a technician at our house shortly after noon. Tyler was very professional and friendly. He was able to quickly solve our problem and explain what he needed to do. We will definitely call them again!

The team works hard and speaks plainly. We're happy to rely on them for semi-annual preventive maintenance. Because we do, today's repair was discounted 10%.

Tyler came out to inspect our unit as to make sure it was working efficiently due to this extremely high temperature/humidity days. He did make some adjustments. Our unit is new & Phil N. Great HVAC just replaced our old unit recently. Following up on their two year service warranty. Contacted them yesterday of issues & came out this morning (Monday). Great company & service!!!

Phil N. Great Heating & Cooling in Cary, NC absolutely lives up to the name — they’re better than great! From the very first phone call, their team was warm, helpful, and incredibly responsive. It’s rare to find a company that combines friendly service, fair pricing, and true professionalism, but these guys nail it.

Our A/C went out on a 90* day. Our daughter recommended Phil N. Great, so we gave them a call. They were able to send Bill to us right away and he was able to diagnose and repair the issue right away. He was friendly and helpful and explained what broke and what to watch for in the future. Great job and great company.

Our air conditioner stopped working and friends of ours recommended Phil N. Great. Bill was our technician who came out to work on it. He was great! He fixed the problem, was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The price was really reasonable, so all around we were so pleased and will be using them from now on. We even signed up for the maintenance plan so we can keep our air and heat clean and inspected every year.

Phil n Great always does a great job for me, and I have used them for several years now. They recently installed a new HVAC system, and they also assist my real estate clients with their heating and air-conditioning needs. I highly recommend them.

We had a new system installed by PnG a few months ago. Here are my takeaways:
-The owner answered my questions in detail, was very knowledgeable and was the deciding factor when choosing between 4 quotes
-Their price was very competitive amongst the 4
- The system has been great so far, quiet and smooth
-We did have one issue with a floor staying too cool. They had a technician out quickly and he immediately diagnosed the issue and had the damper adjusted.

Back in business within 30 minutes! Bill was great!! Very helpful with all of my questions!

10/8/25- Tyler came by for a system maintenance check. He was very friendly and efficient!

1/29/2026- I was having problems with my furnace short cycling, causing my thermostat to go off-line And never letting my heat come up to the temperature set on thermostat. Tyler adjusted some things in my furnace, but more importantly, he explained to me what was happening and why it was happening. Super experience with Tyler and Phil N’ Great! These folks are local, they are not a huge company, and they are so trustworthy !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Tyler is the maintenance individual that arrived at our home. He was very professional from the moment he stepped into the house. He removed his shoes without being asked. He proceeded to address our minor concerns before beginning the system maintenance work. During the maintenance he discovered that the drain pipe for one of the units was severely clogged. He cleared the clog, which was no small accomplishment, and completed the overall system maintenance. I am on a yearly maintenance contract with Phil N. Great (which is shown in the pricing below) and very glad that their team is so skilled and professional whenever we need them. I highly recommend them to any homeowner.

PhilNGreat has been my go-to HVAC and duct work maintenance company since 2017, when they corrected an HVAC installation by another company that failed to pass inspection. They are honest, skilled at diagnostics, responsive during emergencies, and cost-conscious on behalf of customers. My HVAC just received its semi-annual spring service, which involves inspecting both the inside and outside units, changing air filters, and washing the outside unit thoroughly. The PhilNGreat owner made a cover for my unit out of chicken wire years ago to keep leaf debris out of the unit's top. The attached photo shows the cover as well as a happy, clean HVAC unit. Thanks to Tyler, their technician, for a job well done!
