Daniel and Will are both phenomenal. We hired them for a consultation and talked about our vision for the space. They listened and added even more ideas for increasing the value of our yard for wildlife. I was adamant we wanted more birds, bees, and butterflies and Daniel came in ready with all kinds of suggestions for how to accomplish this. He’s been so helpful and easily accessible. I text him with questions and he always gets back so quickly. He’s a joy to work with and I would recommend anyone have him do a consult before choosing plants.

Daniel and team were fantastic! Daniel is very knowledgeable about North Carolina’s eco system and after a great consultation, he created a plan to rewild our yard. His crew was friendly, efficient and very enjoyable to have around. They planted a wonderful variety of native flowers, bushes, trees and grasses which will reseed and spread in the coming years. We were thrilled with the results and would highly recommend him to anyone who is thinking about making their yard a natural landscape.

Eco Backyards turned my yard into a garden for wildlife! I am so happy with results! Dan strategically used native pollinate plants, shrubs, and grasses throughout. He brought ecological design ideas that I hadn't considered before to address excessive stormwater runoff from our roof that would occasionally flood our shed. He removed the overgrowth of invasive plants behind my shed, meticulously weeding out the kudzu and preserving several bushes of buckeye and other flowering natives. He consulted me on ideas for fully utilizing the space behind the shed that are low cost, creative, and natural. His distribution of the mulch was surprisingly quick and effective. After all work was complete, he walked me through my yard explaining the different plants installed, their benefits to wildlife, and how to keep them thriving. I highly recommend Eco Backyards for any small or large scale landscape needs you have especially if you want to create habitat for pollinators and other wildlife. They're the best!

In a recent consultation with Daniel, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised to find a most personable, impressively informed and helpful guide for quite a number of design elements for our yard. He pointed out invasive plants currently in ground while suggesting an array of native plants that might be used in their stead and in other areas. In a particularly worrisome part of the yard with poor drainage after rain, he spoke of creating a “rain garden”’ with various native plants to embellish it and that would thrive in that location. He was very specific about how to deal with wildlife vis a vis plants that attract and ones that repel. My wife and I found ourselves wishing we had called on Daniel and Eco Backyards years ago! We are anxious to get started with a step by step, eco-friendly transformation of our property and we are VERY thankful for the consultation with a true professional gentleman. We had a great experience working with Daniel and his team at EcoBackyards. Daniel listened to our goals and put together a design that addressed water flow issues, incorporated the installation of native plants, improved upon our existing beds, and helped the roots of a favorite magnolia. My experience with Daniel/Eco Backyards is beyond words! My daughter used them and is so happy with the job they did that she recommended them to me when we moved into our new build home in Matthews. I am getting an education from Daniel on the native plants, ecology, design and gardening for wildlife. Daniel visited to consult on erosion issues in our yard. I wish I had him out two years ago when we bought the 1.5 acre property! He shared detailed information on removing invasive plants, dreamt up two rain gardens and shared exactly how I could create them, and told me where I could move my little pollinator garden so it might thrive. Daniel, in his consultation with me, was very knowledgeable about native plants and how specific species could create the desired screen between my house and a neighbor. He proposed a plan that made best use of my existing plants and supplemented them with wildlife friendly plants. He has terrific plant nursery sources and supplied very healthy specimens. Daniel and his crew installed all of them according to the plan and transplanted several of my existing shrubs to other parts of my yard where they would thrive. Daniel is helping us take a fairly “blank” backyard and turn it into a garden for wildlife and for our family using native plants. He spent 2.5 hours during our first consultation answering questions and explaining all about the trees and plants already growing there and giving us a vision of what he could do to prevent erosion and help make a steep hill more walkable. Daniel has a deep knowledge of native plants and a good eye for design. He and his Eco Backyards crew did a fantastic job of removing a hedge of Chinese Ligustrum and replacing them with gorgeous Wax Myrtles and other native shrubs. He expanded beds in three areas to give me more room to "play with plants" and incorporated a rain garden. Daniel had many good suggestions and welcomed my input. He was open to modifying the initial plan to meet my budget with several cost-saving tips.

Daniel and his rockstar team did such a fantastic job converting 1/3 of our front yard lawn to native plant and pollinator oasis, we’ve gotten so many compliments from neighbors who walk by on how stunning everything looks (even had a neighbor hand paint wild flowers on a card and drop it off saying how much they love the front yard!) I can’t wait for the plants to establish themselves and fill out.
