I have recommended JCT Electric to all my family and friends. We had a Generac Generator installed by them recently and we are very happy with their service from the cordial receptionist, owner and the electrical technicians who installed the generator, they are 5 star service. Thank you again for great and reliable service.

My 22kw Generac standby generator took a nearby lightening strike. I called JCT to request an appointment and then sent details including photos showing issues and suggested parts to bring and save additional trips. I noticed the starter was an issue, could see a charred terminal and the unit would not turn over. As an electrical and mechanical engineer, I have a basic sense, well more than basic actually of this equipment.

Jake showed up with a battery and new controller and said the repair order only said “lightening strike” and that he was not given the details I sent. Great communication in the office. Of course nothing would run and the old terminal board was actually functioning. Oh that was a $600 part, half of that if you order it on-line.

Joe the. returned with the new starter a week or so later. Took 20 minutes to install it, and unit would turn over, but not fire. No other diagnosis. I was told I need a new regulator. So a week or so later Joe returned with a new regulator. I kept the old one to open and inspect.

The unit would not fire after a new regulator was installed. Hmmm. I asked him to check for spark. One cylinder was not showing a spark ant the plug. So one cylinder (likely starter coil or magneto for that plug got toasted during the strike). The lack of initial diagnosis was the real issue. Had I not asked for that check, we would still be just replacing parts. Once the unit would turn over that should have been an instant check point.

Joe was going to schedule a follow up call to now replace the magnetos (that cause the spark plugs to deliver a spark). They never called back, likely because the job was now a bit more involved to gain access to them, and likely more involved than what they liked to do.

My whole issue is their lack of proper diagnosis ability. If they were factory trained, this is the first procedure they should have been taught.

I wished I would have kept the control panel, but having kept the regulator, I did take it apart and it was just fine. Everything was in order, but was way out of adjustment from their fiddling.

Since they never called back, I just ordered new magnetos and finished the job myself. Took an hour and a half, since it was my first time doing this component change out.

All I would suggest is that they return to Generac for the diagnostic training and share what the customer has told them so they show up with all of the parts. They kept little on the service truck, and had to order everything that they thought was the issue.

Choose your repair support more carefully.

Got an estimate from Jake, that went great, I felt very confident that I was on the right track. Called a few days later to accept the deal and sign the contract, the call was taken by a woman in the office who was the rudest most unfriendly person you can imagine. Honestly I’m glad she answered so I would know who I was really dealing with. I’ll be looking for another company to install our $16,000. generator. Don’t bother with this company, find someone who appreciates your business.

We gathered three estimates for our Generac generator and JCT surpassed their competitors in timeliness, price, and attention to detail. From estimate to installation, we were kept informed by the whole team. We had a minor locking issue which was resolved quickly at no cost and were extremely happy with this vendor and experience!

I had JCT install a Briggs & Stratton 26kw whole house generator. They did everything they said they were going to do and as scheduled. They handled everything (permits, switches, load protectors, total installation, gas line hook up and inspection). The installation crew was knowledgable, worked well together and practically worked non-stop. After the inspection passed, they returned to start the unit and train me on everything it did and troubleshooting. I am extremely happy with JCT and totally recommend them to anyone needing a generator.

From the start these guys starting with the front desk were more than professional. The guys/installers arrived on time and started work immediately upon letting me know what they would be doing and how. This was at 7:30 am. They ran all of the gas and power lines doing an amazingly neat job on all lines going inside and coming back out of my crawl space where the meter went in the house. Sine I have two 200amp services they installed both boxes and again it was a very neat job all the way around. They completed the install at 12:30 pm and prior to leaving explained next steps to me and how the system would work and that the inspector would now have to come and approve prior to them starting the unit. This was Friday, the inspector came on Monday approved and contacted JCT, they then contacted me and asked when was best for me. Friday was decided. It was pouring down rain Friday morning but installer was still on site on time and completed start up in the rain. Very pleasant experience from this organization and I can’t even imagine them getting a 1 or 2 rating other than by someone that couldn’t be satisfied with any type of service. Inspector was nothing but complimentary about this company and their installs.
