Would not allow 26-ft truck with barely any trash in it to dump a couple of items. Closes at 4:00 p.m. which is extremely inconvenient. Staff is unreasonable. Glad I am moving out of Huntersville.

Insanity from the beginning, I arrive and like others have said the girl at the front looks at me like she is annoyed I am there to use the facility. She takes a look at the truck and say $35. I had 4 bags of bulk trash. She said it was higher because the truck I was in had a company logo. I told her this was my personal trash and I am a resident. She said it didn't matter. Only government can operate something this poorly and it will continue to exist! Shameful, I am more than dissapointed!😐

Front gate attendant very helpful. I am new here so she took the time to explain everything. Paid my nominal fee and got a sticker. Happy to have this convenience. I feel better about taking my unwanted stuff here rather than toss in the trash. Thanks Huntersville.

Weigh station girl couldn't be less helpful. Saw branches and split rail fence in my dump trailer...said I had to go 30 miles over to concord recycling. Could I have just gone over the scale twice, pulled out the wood fence posts, and then done the same with the yard debris? Of course...but that would mean scale girl would have to actually work. They'd rather have you waste an hour and a half of your time and money than 5 minutes of theirs. Terrible customer service.

Began charging $15 for dumping off bulk trash. Is not user friendly any longer.

This was a great place to unload clean bulk trash and other recycling materials quickly but now has become more of a hassle.
The city is moving in the wrong direction. We're going to start seeing more rubbish on sides of streets.

So very easy to use. We'll organized and helpful staff

They are organized, and many folks are working there to direct you. Nice to recycle shredded paper, textiles and styrofoam

They charged for weight. But they don't allow trailers over 12' crazy. And the lady on scale wasn't nice. Nice place, but. Not contractors friendly

Calling the phone number given on the web site is less than useless. The person had no idea what to do with old gasoline and could not give me an answer regarding how the process works. I only wanted to know if my container would be returned or not. His answer was to go to the center and ask them. Very poor use of tax dollars. I would have given NO stars but system would not allow.

I'm 75 years old. I had 8 computers that I needed to drop off. The area that I needed to be in was coned off. Show that left me about 35 to 40' to drop these off the Box Set aside for electronics. There was 6 employees gathered around that Box Talking. I asked if I could pull my vehicle closer to the Box I needed to put them in. They said no. I told them that was a very long way for me to walk with the computers. THEY suggested I use one of their shopping carts. No one offer to help me.

Great organization! Plenty of room to drop most things needing to be recycled or discarded. I wished they recycled styrofoam and other plastics. Security guard seems pretty helpless, didn't seem to know much when I asked a few questions. From other reviews, he doesn't seem well liked.

I’ve been using this facility my whole life and have come to assume that every time I show up rules will have changed in a way that hurts homeowners and taxpayers that fund this facility.

Save yourself a trip and don't go here unless you just have boxes to recycle. They have no scales, so their prices are completely arbitrary (they claim they will have scales soon, but I still expect made-up pricing). The rules here are completely different than the other recycling centers in the county and are bogus in general. This dump is closest to our house, but we choose to go elsewhere any time we possibly can. I feel silly reviewing a dump on google, but that's about the only recourse we have because "its the rule" - WHOSE RULE??!!

Great recycling center. Most of the employees are nice and easy to work and provide you with more help then they are required to. If you pay attention there are some people on the yard who I think are doing required community service that aren't always as helpful though.

They have implemented some new policies that charge for items they used to allow for free. I believe this is because so many people abused the policy in the past. I.e. I used to dutifully pay to dump my construction debri there, while people rolled up in a uhaul next to me with a full truck for of trash and dumped for free.

Now there fee schedule is based on yards of trash. It may makes senses if someone is dumping shingles but for regular light bulk trash I now take it to Griffen in Huntersville which is less than 1/2 the cost of the new fee schedule.

W Martin helped me change my flat tire. This was my fault as I Jack Knifed my trailer. He was very helpful and honestly, that makes me feel great about our Mecklenburg community. W Martin is a great employee and we need more people like him! Thanks for the help. W!

I wish reviews would allow people to choose a negative star, for this issue it is needed. My husband and I have always used North Mecklenburg recycling center when doing home improvements with no problem. Today we went to dispose some carpet from our home, only from one room so not alot. The lady at the entrance had a rude demeanor, like having to deal with people was an inconvenience to her day. She looked at a us said that we would have to pay a 25.00 fee in order for us to get rid of the carpet. Seriously? We have to pay 25.00 to bring it to the disposal location, however if we put it on the curb and call 311 the city will pick it up for free. How does that make any sense? It's a joke that Mecklenburg county tax paying residents are charged a fee,( outside of the taxes we already pay), for being proactive in disposing of waste, instead of junking up their neighborhood. I leaned over my husband and said, "no thank you were will take it back home and let the city pick it up for free." It'seems like the city is up to some crooked schemes to make more money.

Visit several time a year and have always had a very pleasant encounter with employee(s). Areas clearly marked, overall facility kept organized!

Small business owners beware! Not only do you pay your fair share of taxes to Mecklenburg county, you get billed nearly twice as much because you have a company logo on your truck. I borrowed a truck and was charged nearly twice as much as the rate said I would be. When I ask I was told that I had a business logo. The cashier didn’t want to hear that I bored a truck and told me there was nothing she could do because we were on camera.

I've been a resident of Huntersville for 17 years. Needless to say I have used this location on many occasions over the years. Employees are always helpful and it's actually pretty darn easy to navigate around the place. I've read most of the reviews that have been posted here and I seriously questioned some of these folks. This is not a fine dining establishment, a high-end retail store nor any place you go shopping or spend quality time. This is a recycling center people! It's not going to be what most of us consider to be neat, tidy or clean. These guys work outside year round in the massive heat and humidity of the summer and the cold in the winter to make sure that the trash that we don't want is adequately taken care of. I personally think they do a pretty darn good job.

Great Experience here. We only had some cardboard boxes and some metal rails to drop off.. The guard quickly let us in pointed the direction where we dump our stuff and there was no charge for the few items we had. quick and easy experience

Have used this center many times to recycle lithium batteries, paint, cardboard, old grills...haven't ever had to pay anything. Employees are helpful in making sure your items go in the right place. Bring your license to prove you're a Meck Co resident. All in all a great experience.
