I scheduled this company to clean two small spots in one room and 2 young men showed up who said they were subcontractors for Oneill Family Carpet Cleaning. I thought that was strange. They told me to clean one room would cost $450 and they had to charge extra because they had to carry heavy equipment up one flight of stairs. It isn't heavy and can easily be carried up and down stairs with one person. They weren't insured. I asked if the company who subcontracted them was insured and called Oneill... but they were unable to provide me with any insurance information. I thought $450 was too high and they tried to lower the price to $400. They said they had to charge me $100 for each of the 4 chemicals they use. I asked them to show me what they use (they showed me 2 bottles); and saw the same sized bottles can be purchased for about $50 each (eta: the manufacturer states the estimated coverage area for one of the solutions is 13,000 sq ft per 6 lb container, and my room may be approximately 500sq ft). They said there are 2 chemicals in each bottle, which isn't true based on the ingredients. Then, they tried to lower the price to 250 if I paid cash and offered to follow me to the bank, since they were already there. They pretended to call their boss, speaking in another language. They said they forgot equipment 15min away and left for over an hour. I refused service and they said they need to charge me a service fee. I scheduled the same service for less than $150. I highly recommend avoiding these thieves and the company who "subcontracted" them.
